Anouncing Pirates of the Caribbean Water!

The trailer looks fantastic, I really can't wait for this to be released! Loving the new background, nice to have another jungleish one besides the Temples background.

And just look at the new decorations and materials:

That flaming torch will be incredibly useful! The netting and black sails look cool, and the seaweek stuff should be handy.

I can finally build my "A Journey" level how I wanted to have it in the first place. Proper torches in the caves, cannons for the ship, bricks for the castle (although I might leave like that), wooden blanks for the ship instead of a wooden box, pirate-y music and of course water. o/2009-12-15 18:52:00

I agree that there are plenty of community levcels better than Mm ones. No doubt about it. And I get really annoyed when I read comments like "Mm need to release levels, there aren't any good ones online!".

But I think the thing that makes Mm levels so special (for me at least) is that whilst they may not be jaw-dropping, you know they'll great fun to play and will be made to perfection. It's also not often we get 5 levels that form a story (plus a survival challenge to go with it) in one go. And of course there's the satisfaction of finding and collecting lots of prize bubbles that contain stuff you'll actually want to use.		2009-12-15 19:32:00

The MM levels don't blow my mind either but there are very, very few levels that are as much fun as the story levels. Sure there are plenty that look in their own way better or using more amazing techniques, but the best fun and gameplay I find in the MM levels.
Karakuri Nights by o-tera is one of the few user made levels that come close to that for example.		2009-12-15 19:42:00

This is going to be the first year in my life that I am getting myself something for Christmas.
Now, what do I get my girlfriend so she won't complain about me not spending time with her? I know the simple answer is to give her a controller and let her play, but I have tried. o_0 I had like 5 minutes at school to check littlebigplanet.com earlier, and saw it up! Then I saw the price, and though it was $12 for each package, and was kinda annoyed for the last couple hours of school.

Then I realized that was the NZ currency


Anyways, yeah this is soooooo awesome!!! I'm also glad they didn't hike up the price (unlike I initially thought when I saw it). Everything looks so awesome.

Meh, but having a paintinator would generally set the time of the level. You won't be seeing a paint gun in prehistoric times but water can be placed in the past, present and future.

I personally think much more features will come out of water. And, even though I prefer MGS series over PotC anyday, I feel this pack will be the best ever. PotC suits LBP in oh too many ways...

Some levels now focus mostly on use of the paintinator, but those aren't the best ones imo. The paintinator offers some variety in game play mechanics and I think water will be the same way. (run/jump/swing -> swim/dive/gulp!) Since the water level can be dynamically changed, I think the most enjoyable new levels will bring in water for a part but not make it the main attraction. And the BigBigPlanet is covered 3/5 by water after all, so I'd think many levels could find a place for it.2009-12-16 21:16:00

The levels look a little sloppy because Mm wants to show off all of their new stickers. For example, they could have made palm trees of 2 different materials, but instead they chose to stick the PotC palm tree sticker on a block of cardboard.

Also, they like to keep most of their switches, winches, motor bolts, etc visible. It's probably to keep Sackboy in the real world and make the level seem more crafty.		2009-12-16 23:10:00

I honestly didnt notice much difference.
however, i agree they have a slightly more "grungy" look, thats because of the pirate theme. I also agree with Sack-Jake		2009-12-17 16:13:00

I think they kept the toy / craft look because anything too realistic may have impeded on the old E for Everyone rating.

With that in mind, we'll probably see the patch first, before the DLC going up on the store.

I woke up at 9 today and expected it to be there...
Then I downloaded the updates and that took about an hour, then I thought I could update the PS3 in the meantime and it'll surely be there when it's ready...

And I'm STILL waiting.

no, behind the first redcoat you meet that has gas on his spear. if you fall down from above him you can glide in some hole and you're out.

The pack is pretty cool all in all, a bit underwhelming here and there though.

Edit: While I was writing the above sentence, I found out what was a tad underwhelming about it...
I was in the beta, water is not new to me at all.
It actually must be a pretty darn good feeling when you get to see water this way for the first time.

The new stuff is really, really, really good.
Since I never create futuristic levels, this is exactly what I wanted and, in some cases, needed.

Costumes are nice, Davy Jones is especially cool. Very cute indeed!! 		2009-12-22 18:41:00

Yer overall I preferred MGS because I tend to like more logic-y things and this pack was mainly focused on just showing off water and basic platforming.

The kraken was a real tough one though, took me a few times to get it done but as i said before it more showing off water and I highly doubt that boss battle took as much logic as metal gear's boss.


Still it shows off water and it actually had some neat uses for it like on one of the levels you have blocks you have to arrange while underwater then lower the water again to climb the blocks. However there really wasn't much of that.

I'll have to go through and use my stickers though, maybe there is more treasure yet :arg:		2009-12-22 18:48:00

JUST shoot the cannons when you're fighting the kraken. Don't sink the ships. Just destroy the cannons and wait it out. Watch out for the tentacles the third time. Stand in the middle. Easy ace.2009-12-22 20:02:00

Nooooo....
I've been disconnected from the server while I was downloading the update (it was 92% done) :eek:!!
Is it bad? can it cause some problems??

And my PS3 just can't connect anymore... I don't understand, my connection works, as internet on my computer is available

I have a message saying I need to redo the internet settings of my PS3

I'm really really angry right now...
