Favorite Videogame Water Levels?
Archive: 26 posts
With water coming in LittleBigPlanet soon, I have to ask what everyone's favorite videogame water level is. For me it's probably the first water level of Donkey Kong Country for the SNES. I liked all of the hidden bananas and treasures. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GH-UGtfGH8I My next favorite would have to go to the Manta Ray Racing level in Super Mario Galaxy on the Wii. I played that level so many times trying to get the best time and ended up loving the dynamics of the water. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oW_fB0qJI8A Actually now that I think of it, I loved every water level in Mario Galaxy. They were all so much fun! Here's a few videos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-GNCSxaATQ&feature=PlayList&p=76B46D5444463086&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=89 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RmYt8hJ740s&feature=PlayList&p=76B46D5444463086&index=30 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcZeupmGA0E&feature=PlayList&p=76B46D5444463086&index=111 | 2009-12-15 00:35:00 Author: Sack-Jake Posts: 1153 |

...Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time's Water Temple. *mauled* | 2009-12-15 02:37:00 Author: GreyMRP Posts: 588 |
I was gonna go with the first DK one! Boo! That was just gaming bliss. How about Jolly Roger Bay in Mario 64? or however it was called... lol how about the water park in Duke Nukem 3D : Atomic Edition? | 2009-12-15 02:42:00 Author: Foofles Posts: 2278 |
A 3D Mario game? Seriously? The swimming is clunky as **** in those games. Anyway...The Azure Palace! Duh!? | 2009-12-15 03:18:00 Author: qrtda235566 Posts: 3664 |
Does the part in Uncharted count, where your on a speedboat shooting at mad men, and explosive barrels? If so, then yeh, that | 2009-12-15 04:27:00 Author: Ricano Posts: 434 |

A 3D Mario game? Seriously? The swimming is clunky as **** in those games. The 3D Mario games... they're not all the same :/ Hmm how about Bioshock | 2009-12-15 14:02:00 Author: Dexiro Posts: 2100 |
The 3D Mario games... they're not all the same :/ Hmm how about Bioshock The swimming was still a bit clunky in Galaxy but the atmosphere and pure charm made up for that imo. Technically, Bioshock 2 will be the first game in the series that features real gameplay, fully submerged, in water. | 2009-12-15 14:05:00 Author: Zwollie Posts: 2173 |
I didn't think the swimming in Galaxy was that bad. It's kind of clunky but it works well | 2009-12-15 14:06:00 Author: Dexiro Posts: 2100 |
Modnation Racer levels with lakes in them =P | 2009-12-15 14:44:00 Author: Snappyguy Posts: 710 |
The intro to Metal Gear Solid How about the entire game of wave race 64? The water still looks better than water in most modern games They all use the flat plane with wavy distortion, looks stupid and fake. | 2009-12-15 15:26:00 Author: Foofles Posts: 2278 |
...Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time's Water Temple. *mauled* The one where you are adult link! I recently just beat that temple again, cause i have been playing ocarina of time. It is the most ANNOYING THING EVER MADE! Probaly the hardest part of a video game ever without guides. The shadow temple is pretty annoying but not nearly as hard as the water temple. That Zelda Twighlight Zone was fun but it was a little too easy compared to Ocarina. Is majoras mask fun? i have never played it | 2009-12-15 15:54:00 Author: Snrm Posts: 6419 |
Endless Ocean for Wii. I had a lot of fun with that game when it first came out, before I started hating my Wii and loving my PS3 xP | 2009-12-15 16:46:00 Author: Sackwise Posts: 305 |
The 3D Mario games... they're not all the same :/ Hmm how about Bioshock I've played all of them, and in every one the swimming is awful. There are only three in the main series, I think, and in all of them the swimming is just awful. | 2009-12-15 19:46:00 Author: qrtda235566 Posts: 3664 |
Is majoras mask fun? i have never played it It's very different. Some say it's the best Zelda. I found the 3 day cycle a bit too tedious. There are some great levels once you are past the swamp levels. Playing as a Deku sucks... Anyway, I found the level that played inside a whale in OoT worse than the water temple. Hated it. I did like the water level in Mario 64 in which you have to change the level of the water. | 2009-12-15 19:52:00 Author: Syroc Posts: 3193 |
i remember renting majoras mask when i was little for n64 but i was really little and i was sooo confused when the sun went down and i lost. | 2009-12-15 19:54:00 Author: Snrm Posts: 6419 |
I loved the music in the Mario water levels. Swimming was okay. But anyway I really do want to attempt to make Wet Dry World on Mario 64 on LBP But hmmm favorite... Well the best I can think of right now is Jabu Jabu's Belly on LoZ: Oracle of Ages. I hated swimming with that mermaid suit. But the challange of finding out where to go, the puzzles, and the switch hookshot, or whatever its called (its like the hookshot but it switches places with whatever it hits) made it fun to solve. Found a video with sound (even though a guy is talking the whole time) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7JbhB8_L04 I think the difficutly on that might be harder than the water temple from Orcarina of Time, but it wasn't as annoying | 2009-12-15 19:57:00 Author: JKthree Posts: 1125 |
Actually, Bioshock does have a scene where you are entirely submerged in water: the intro. Also, the swimming might be a little clunky in the Mario console games, but like JKthree said, the charm makes up for it. All of the levels I listed were all very memorable to me. | 2009-12-15 23:29:00 Author: Sack-Jake Posts: 1153 |

I don't like water levels that much, but as far as water graphics go, I've never seen a game top Super Mario Sunshine. | 2009-12-17 07:02:00 Author: TheJollyRajah Posts: 466 |
I'm seeing a remake of one of those levels in LBP. | 2009-12-17 20:45:00 Author: Sack-Jake Posts: 1153 |
OMG I loved Mermaids Cave and Jabu Jabu's belly (OoA). I also loved the water temple in majoras mask. | 2009-12-18 00:00:00 Author: bonner123 Posts: 1487 |
