How long can you hold your breath?
Archive: 30 posts
Well since all the buzz of water on LBP is about, why not discuss this![]() I have always been a good swimmer. I could never swim fast, but i was always able to hold off on my on, and could hold my breath for a long time, and loved to dive down at the bottom of the deep ends of pools (except sometimes when i couldn't take the pressure) So how long can you hold your breath, longer than our little Sackboy? I went and did a little research and i found out the average person can hold there breath for about 30-45 seconds (which makes sense for our sackboy). What was a shock to me was I thought the record for longest breath was between 3-4 minutes, wow was I off! The record is about 17 minutes  I can still hold my breath for at least 2 minutes. | 2009-12-14 21:31:00 Author: JKthree ![]() Posts: 1125 |

I can only hold it for 15 or less seconds. sucks I know, I'll be the first one to drown when the world floods. | 2009-12-14 21:34:00 Author: Unknown User ![]() |
Well thats 1 minute and 45 seconds.![]() People only ever use 10% of their lungs, i had mine tested and i can optimize about 40% Still learning to free dive. (2:45 is my record. I've just eaten lol) | 2009-12-14 21:35:00 Author: CreateNPlay ![]() Posts: 1266 |

I'm a good swimmer as well, and I've only held my breath for about 30-40 seconds. I'm sure I can hold it in longer, but I've never tried. | 2009-12-14 22:22:00 Author: Ricano ![]() Posts: 434 |
Well a few months ago i had this weird phase where i could hold my breath for as long as i wanted. Some people might remember me posting about it... bad times xD I think the longest i went for was about 90 seconds but i didn't dare go any longer because it gave me a stinging feeling in my lungs. | 2009-12-14 22:40:00 Author: Dexiro ![]() Posts: 2100 |

David Blaine suspended himself underwater for 17 minutes, but passed out XD. It's not the conventional hold your breath. Alright, 55 seconds for me. But it'd be a lot less if I was swimming... And I'd probably float... | 2009-12-15 00:18:00 Author: Incinerator22 ![]() Posts: 3251 |
I usually hold my breath for about 40 seconds when I have the hiccups. ![]() | 2009-12-15 02:27:00 Author: GreyMRP ![]() Posts: 588 |

Long enough to dive the full length of a 25m pool and a bit more. A few years ago anyway. | 2009-12-15 16:34:00 Author: Syroc ![]() Posts: 3193 |

I free dive so pretty long. It takes a lot of practice. 140 mins or longer depends on some variances like the depth of the water. | 2009-12-15 16:43:00 Author: divemonkey1 ![]() Posts: 41 |
Hmm, I don't really know. Let me see. Okay, I'm holding it... Still holding it... Still holding it... Going blue in the face... Blood vessels bursting... Mmm...uh...pft...huk! ... | 2009-12-17 06:17:00 Author: Ungreth ![]() Posts: 2130 |

48 seconds! (anyone else use minesweeper as a timer?) | 2009-12-17 17:17:00 Author: comphermc ![]() Posts: 5338 |
1 minute 6 seconds, I could hold my breath longer probably. I've heard that a good tip is to breath really fast before holding your breath so that you get loads of oxygen first but I didn't try that there. (anyone else use minesweeper as a timer?) I just did there. ![]() | 2009-12-17 23:16:00 Author: S-A-S--G-U-N-R ![]() Posts: 1606 |
