The Sackies - Best innovative creation

The Sackies - Celebrating the highest level of achievement amongst Players, Creators and Sharers on LittleBigPlanet. The Sackies ? Celebrating the highest level of achievement amongst Players, Creators and Sharers on LittleBigPlanet.

Throughout the year, there have been defining moments where a creator has worked out how to break the mould, and bring new exciting ideas to LittleBigPlanet creators everywhere ? either through glitches or new methods of using existing tools, this award is for the best innovation in a level, perhaps something that has been adopted by people as a common method, or just something so mind bogglingly impressive that you call the nearest person into the room to look at it, no matter how little they might care about it.

And the nominees are?

* Libidius.jp by RRR30000
* Swinging Silhouette by Anposteller (as an example of the 50 layer glitch)
* Little Big Calculator by Upsilandre
* Azure palace by Gevurah22
* World of color by Geosautus
* Moving Parts by AAAlone

And the winner is?

Little Big Calculator by Upsilandre

Published in the beta of LittleBigPlanet, just before launch, this level blew everyone?s minds and help to shape the path ahead for logic loving creators. Although at first it seems to be a simple calculator, a look behind the scenes shows the insanely complex workings of this calculating computer. What Upsilandre achieved here was truly one of the first innovations for LittlebigPlanet, and a mind boggler to boot.

Too bad Hibbsi doesn't have his finished yet. It ninja-kicks LittleBigCalculator.

3 digits, and multiplies as well... Hurry up with that Hibbsi!

----

I feel like AAAlone should have been the winner, but what are you going to do. Congrats to Antpostteller for another nomination. You seem to be cleaning up!

I've never played any levels by Anposteller or AAAlone. Am I a terrible person? :0

Three of the levels on this list were moderated at one point or another, and World of Color never returned. That's a real shame.

Congrats to everyone! Looking forward to the next one.

@ kappa: no, you're not a terrible person. You are missing out though

Tis defo a shame for hibbsi, although part of the impressiveness of LBC was how early it was released I guess. There are a lot of people who could replicate it now, but it was the first.

Little Big Calculator is definitely a worthy winner. I remember when it was first discovered and it literally pushed the boundaries of what people thought LBP was capable of. Seeing all of the logicry alone made it look like the inside of a micro-chip. It was impressive even to those who didn't understand how it worked (myself included).2009-12-14 14:15:00

@rtm: Good! Still, thought, next time I'm on lbp, I will right my wrongs and play levels by both creators!2009-12-14 14:20:00

...awww, I don't think so, but possibly you should peek out from under that box a bit more. Just kidding!!

Congrats to the winners!

Wow... wonder how many catagories there are??

That was the impression I got. Best level will be announced xmas eve or maybe the 23rd, and one award per day until then. I was a little unclear whether they are going to use the existing votes from here and the workshop for that, or if they are going to use those for a shortlist and then get new votes in.

Either way, Anposteller looks like a strong contender, based on the voting from before...

I told Alex Evens at the expo about that level and he thought it sounded "very cool indeed". I don't know if he ever got around to playing it. I know its not a crown, but thought you might like to know

For me, this was the level which I first remember smashing the mould... Something in my head just 'tweaked'. I knew then that LBP wouldn't be leaving the comfy surrounding of my ps3 drive for a very long time... (still haven't started Uncharted2).

Little Big Calculator, did cause me to call my wife into the room though (she was non-plussed, and not easily amused by such things or me!) so it is super worthy! At the time, I wasn't that captivated by logic--I have much much more respect for it now, and still could not replicate it!

I am not going to lie. I would love to be nominated for one of these. Just nominated... so I know mm doesn't think my levels are rubbish.

I hope that doesn't make me sound conceited or anything. Believe me, it's quite the contrary. Even after everything that's happened to me involving this game, I honestly still do have THAT low self esteem. I apologize for this post.

@ard - I am also happy world of color got mentioned, because that really was a great level.

@Mnniska: There are still many more days of awards. I really hope you get a shiny crown. ^_^

I'm sorry, bakscratch. There are many more awards left, though. Perhaps there's still one on the horizon for you. Do not lose hope, okay? WE all know you came up with the glitch. It's called the bakscratch glitch, afterall, or at least that's what I call it.

Edit: these awards seem to be making a lot of people sad.

If we operate under that sort of logic, I would also like to add a "best animation starring a fox and umbrella that play lbp by a girl who is obsessed with crystals and ghosts" ... if I may. (by the way, only joking )

and I agree. LittleBigCalculator is actually the first lbp related video I had ever seen. completely awesome!

Sure LittleBigCalculator must have taken a ton of time and effort to perfect, but I think the award should've gone to the Azure Palace. I mean gevurah22 was far ahead of his time when he made the level. It's interesting as well because it incorporates logic and innovation into an actual level unlike the calculator.2009-12-14 22:46:00

what do you mean "harsh on myself"? ... I was just being silly. ^_^

While we're making up categories... bakscratch, I nominate you for best founder of the 3d glitch. ^_^

Ooh! And I'm nominating Ccubbage as for the chief flamingo technician award!

Who else wants an award? I've got lots of them!

If you make the award really really small, it might be able to avoid hitting any lag.

I know, you could use Shrinky Dinks!

These ones were picked by MM / Sony, then they decided upon winners. The best level is a bit hazy, but in some form it's coming from the community votes. I assume they are taking into account our votes from a while back, but it also suggested there would be a new vote after nominations went up for that award. I'm mostly confused by it.2009-12-15 03:15:00

Each fansite provided a list of nominations for the Best Level category - from there, Mm will play each nomination and decide which deserves to win. As to the other categories, Mm pulled nominations from many different sources - I'm not sure exactly how many or who, but I do know I was asked to provide a few nominations.

I once played that level, it was very nice.
I only found it because I made a level called Jazz, and I wanted to see if anybody else did....

I agree, Omega. If those guys aren't innovative, then I don't know who is! There are very important things missing so far from all of these categories.

and thank you, cartman, for letting me know how the process works. I sorta wish I knew what the "other sources" were... and i sorta wish the community had a little more say in it.

Impossible to argue with Little Big Calculator.

Glad gevurah's Azure Palace is in there because that really was the original, definitive "wow" moment for doing things a little more on the moody side than MM did.

The best part about this is that AAAlone is finally, fully recognized as the man behind Moving Parts.

I just watched Swinging Silhouette and it's jawdropping, but I like this little ditty here too -
