Things that your parents say that annoy/bother you
Archive: 52 posts
For example: If it was time for me to get off the video games, my parents would say something like "Shut 'em down" or "Save it up" It really REALLY annoys me. Discuss. | 2009-12-14 03:25:00 Author: Sackwise Posts: 305 |
"Three guesses and the first two don't count!" I don't get it... | 2009-12-14 03:26:00 Author: chezhead Posts: 1063 |
When I was little, I would ask them to buy me a toy or something. And my Dad would always say, "Let me think...ahh..NO!" | 2009-12-14 03:39:00 Author: Tomvis Posts: 99 |
I can't wait until Vortex or one of the other LBPC parents reads this thread and makes "Things that your kids say that annoy/bother you" | 2009-12-14 03:43:00 Author: hilightnotes Posts: 1230 |
<--Parent, @hilightnotes anything Hannah Montana I say You get three guesses and the first two don't count. Its our little way of saying how obvious it is. My mom used it on me to. @Sackwise: your parents must be in there 40's. That sounds like mid-life talk. Trying to sound "young" and "hip." I don't think you should try to sound like your kids, you're going to fail. When you're a parent, you have to understand that you are old even if you are still in your 20's. Just don't expect me to act like it lol. | 2009-12-14 04:20:00 Author: thefrozenpenquin Posts: 479 |
I always hated it when after saying "I want this" to my dad would say "it's good to want." Still can't stand that. | 2009-12-14 04:32:00 Author: Morgana25 Posts: 5983 |
If I miss one of my mom's phone calls, I dread calling back, because I know that the first words out of her mouth will be "Oh, too busy to talk to your mother, huh?" It drives me nuts! | 2009-12-14 05:31:00 Author: mrsupercomputer Posts: 1335 |

If I miss one of my mom's phone calls, I dread calling back, because I know that the first words out of her mouth will be "Oh, too busy to talk to your mother, huh?" It drives me nuts! my mom does that to mess with me | 2009-12-14 07:22:00 Author: thefrozenpenquin Posts: 479 |
Calling me up with absolutely nothing to say. you get all stressed because you can't find your cellphone and want to pick it up before it stops ringing to hear this on the other end: Just calling, no reason. DRIVES ME INSANE!! | 2009-12-14 08:31:00 Author: Zwollie Posts: 2173 |
Aw i don't have much xD I hate it when my parents make it out that they're better than me with computery stuff. I put Google Chrome on my mums computer a few days ago to save her downloading the new IE and i got "it's a virus". I brought a HDMI cable and got an argument based around "Our tv isn't HD it's HD ready!". Oh yeah and i HATE it when people call mp3's in general ipods... (she does that too) "I might get a Phillips Ipod for christmas" There's no such thing! D: | 2009-12-14 08:56:00 Author: Dexiro Posts: 2100 |
[QUOTE=Sackwise;350731] "Shut 'em down" QUOTE] Sounds like they want you to keep playing to me, like if you were playing a FPS: They pop their head around the corner and say "Shut 'em down" | 2009-12-14 11:30:00 Author: BlackToof Posts: 172 |
My father lectures me on things that he's lectured me about 700 times in the past. Things like: Sara, now remember, you have to shut the washer hoses off after you've finished your wash in the winter, or they'll freeze and the pipes will burst" ... now, this is sound advice if : a. he didn't say it every time I did my wash and b. if I wasn't 31 years old. lol. he doesn't even live at the house anymore, and he still does it. I guess that's what parents do, though, isn't it? | 2009-12-14 14:31:00 Author: xkappax Posts: 2569 |
I hated it when growing up, and I would ask my mother, "Why not?" And she response would simply be, "Because I said so." Case closed! Glad we sorted that one out, mother!! | 2009-12-14 14:38:00 Author: comphermc Posts: 5338 |

"do your exams good or we'll take away your computer" annoys me alot. and then when the results are there, I usually have bad results nothing happens | 2009-12-14 14:58:00 Author: oldage Posts: 2824 |
This is of a somewhat different flavor, but I recently saw my mother say "EPIC WIN!!!!" on Facebook. It was horrifying. | 2009-12-14 15:18:00 Author: CaptainCowboyHat Posts: 153 |
"do your exams good or we'll take away your computer" annoys me alot. and then when the results are there, I usually have bad results nothing happens If that's the wording they use, then I don't think they really have a right to punish you for exam results . | 2009-12-14 15:19:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |
This is of a somewhat different flavor, but I recently saw my mother say "EPIC WIN!!!!" on Facebook. It was horrifying. Definitely. My parents are starting to catch on to computer slang, and whenever they text "lol" my blood boils... they use it more than I do. | 2009-12-14 15:44:00 Author: TheJollyRajah Posts: 466 |

Definitely. My parents are starting to catch on to computer slang, and whenever they text "lol" my blood boils... they use it more than I do. My mom tried something like that once, I laughed at her for 3 hours straight while keeping my finger firmly pointed at her face. She just talks about the weather these days. (No not really, not that cruel...it was only 15 minutes or so) | 2009-12-14 15:50:00 Author: Zwollie Posts: 2173 |

My mom used to do a really annoying thing when I was in highschool. She would wake me up at 6:30 and make me get ready for school. School didn't start until 8:20 and I lived 10 minutes away. You do the math. | 2009-12-14 17:47:00 Author: xkappax Posts: 2569 |

Now, I can see having the crumpets in an oven, but tea belongs on top of the oven.... not that we drink tea too much in Florida.... or crumpets.... actually, I think I may be the only one in Florida that knows what a crumpet IS.... | 2009-12-14 18:51:00 Author: CCubbage Posts: 4430 |

We call our evening meal tea. Anyone know what a pikelet is? I do, just wondered if any of you lot did too? | 2009-12-14 19:42:00 Author: mrsvista Posts: 755 |
I've heard of a pikelet before. Isn't it like a raisiny oatcake or pancake? Actually does anyone here know what an oatcake is? Apparently they aren't sold at all outside my area but they're really popular here. It was weird when i first found that out, it's almost like leaving your area and realising noone else knows what an ipod is. | 2009-12-14 20:48:00 Author: Dexiro Posts: 2100 |

I'm always told they originated here but i suppose they would say that xD I searched pikelets as well and they look awesome! They look like a fat pancake/crumpet thing.
