Planet Xladylyn1 Grab your space suits and prepare for an adventure like no other! This is about my 23rd level and I would say its probably my most exciting and entertaining to date. I tried to make it funny too... I hope it is! It was inspired by the Planet X level seen on the Timesplitters series! But its not a replica. Video Added: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HzIknAkk704 Enjoy the level, here are a few screen shots: all | 2009-12-13 09:16:00 Author: ladylyn1 Posts: 836 |

I played this last night and I enjoyed it very much! It was very sharp and fun to play. No real complaints about this one! :star::star::star::star::star: and a heart! | 2009-12-13 15:23:00 Author: piggabling Posts: 2979 |
I played this last night with a friend, and I absolutely loved it! I can't fault it - everything was pretty much perfect! Quite comical and funny at times, and I have to say I especially enjoyed the look of the aliens! The way they shot, looked and talked! Very good visuals, and it forced me to go back and play it again once I had completed it. This is one of the best levels I have played on LBP, for sure. I had to give it :star::star::star::star::star: and a heart, and I reckon this is a level I'm going to go back and play again and again! Good job! If you don't mind F4F click here: The Mine (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=18967) Much appreciated and again, well done and thanks for a great level! | 2009-12-13 16:03:00 Author: standby250 Posts: 1113 |
Awesome level. Best Iv'e seen in a while and very much up to your standard set by WWTWB series. How long did it take you to make? your only back from university and this pops out? Must of had it all planned and then just built it quick. Anyway I got a few points, well one point... It was near perfect. >Thought the voices constantly changing was weird. One minute You sound like the king and the next something like a zombie. Same with Bill. Whispers then something different. 5 stars and a well deserved heart. | 2009-12-13 16:11:00 Author: KQuinn94Z Posts: 1758 |
Thanks for the comments! Wow such a great response...yeah i got back from uni last sunday and worked pretty much everyday on it this week. Tbf I had planned out the story. The voices I used were to mimic the characters feelings rather than setting a voice for a specific character and keeping it... I could easily change it I suppose. Anyway thanks for the great feedback, I feel it is my best level... just wish it was 5 stars! | 2009-12-13 16:17:00 Author: ladylyn1 Posts: 836 |
Just played it - Xcellent! I enjoyed the visuals, and thought the characters were cute. Also, a great intro! I didn't find anything obviously wrong... although the bolts on the rocks you climb near the beginning looked a bit odd. Kind of seemed they should have been hidden (also would give the player a bit of a surprise when they start rocking back and forth). Nice job! | 2009-12-13 20:28:00 Author: CCubbage Posts: 4430 |

Yeah, I didn't know what to do about those bolts... taking them away that section looked a little false- don't know why. But i might do if more people comment about this. | 2009-12-13 23:23:00 Author: ladylyn1 Posts: 836 |
Hi, thanks so much for your input on my Twas the Night Before Christmas level (sorry I ruined your idea for a level). I really appreciate advice from a veteran creator. As for Planet X, wow, it is beautiful and difficult. Going down the incline with those moving laser beams was driving me kazoo! (I had to restart here because of dying, but that's my problem, not your level). I do think the sprung bolts should be hidden though. I agree with the above post. Don't worry if things look funny; it's an ALIEN planet. lol. Anyway, thanks again for the F4F. Great level. I look for it to be spotlighted in a couple weeks. | 2009-12-14 01:20:00 Author: thanatos989 Posts: 248 |
Excellent level! Needless to say, I've been charmed in the first 2 mins! Polished into, nice characters, beautiful visuals and great feel of progression/story. The planet is GREAT looking, nothing short of what I would expect from the guy who made the Wind series after all. Pros: -Excellent visuals -Great polish -Good characters. The aliens are funny looking and sounding. -First Alien giving you the paintinator. Good idea! This is nice little attentions, little details I really appreciate when playing a level. - The little alien walking, the little alien peaking, the sort of trial scene at the end. I am truly impressed. -Amazing progression. I can't say it enough. The pace is perfect, the story is perfect, the scenes are awesome, well done, well orchestrated. Cons: -I would fancy no seeing the bolts, radios and whatnot. This is really subjective though and not really a con. -Characters changing voices in the same discussion. Gives me a wierd impression. (see the discussion with guy when you enter the Alien base per example). To make a long story short, this level truly deserves any praise, any praise and any heart it can get. This level is just as charming, if not more, than Media Molecule level and I've been 100% absorbed. You're a GREAT creator. The level feels inspired, is fun and BEAUTIFUL. It's also polished to no end. This is the best levels i've played since a LONG time. :star::star::star::star::star: + heart . | 2009-12-14 05:28:00 Author: RangerZero Posts: 3901 |
Wow thanks for such positive feedback! It looks like this level lost its 5 star rating due to difficulty and I'm guessing its the lasers... Ok so a few things I might change: ~ The lasers: Could do a couple of things: 1) Speed of lasers. 2) Gradient of slope. 3) Reducing number of frames to 2 Opinions on that would be cool. ~ Make the wobble bolts and radios invisible. ~ Have a look at the voices and see if I can make them more consistent. Thanks again for the feedback! Im pleased to know ur all enjoying the level! EDIT: Ok, so for the lasers. I changed the gradient of the slope to see if that makes things easier. Also added infinite lives here. | 2009-12-14 08:41:00 Author: ladylyn1 Posts: 836 |
Wow. Not many people can say they just got back from college and completed a whole level. Let me tell you what I was most impressed with: the overall design and layout of the level. For those of you who don't know, I was given the pleasure of actually seeing his level in create mode before he published it. So when I say I'm impressed with the layout, I really mean it. Everything was so clean .. the design was just natural. Even the logic looked really good. I know you're a humble guy, but don't take this lightly - you're well on your way to becoming one of those creators that everyone knows. And not because of what you create, but because of how you create. And if anyone hasn't played ladylyn1's levels yet, you need to, and you'll see what I mean. So, back on point. Here's some thoughts: Pros: - this was a lot of fun (which equals replayability) - the visuals were stunning .. especially the outside alien world. Yes they were 'cute' (like the planets that look like hamburgers), but I thought that added to the light-heartedness of the level - you said you added humor, and I have to say, it all worked! Especially the bathroom section when you're going through the pipes - when you enter the pipes, there is a short discussion about being dumb enough to go into them. Was that meant to be a loose connection to Star Wars when they jumped down the trash shoot? - cut scenes were great and well placed - I loved the simplicity of the story - I noticed the voice changes, and I'll be honest, I thought it was meant to convey the different emotions .. and I appear to be correct, after reading your previous post - I loved the intro with the arrows (the design, the music, etc) - it really set the quirky mood of the level - I liked how you were not required to take out all of the bad guys in the end... your boss fights tend to be on the difficult side (which isn't a bad thing), but this one was refreshing. If this ending sequence would have been difficult, I'm not sure it would have fit the overall feel of the level. Suggestions: - When you land on the alien world, to the right of the space ship, but to the left of a star (next to the star) is a little piece of material .. I'm not sure if that's intended to be there? In fact, if you look close enough, you can see what I'm talking about in your first picture on this thread. - I suggest not tweaking the section with the downward slope and the lasers. I thought it was an original idea that was executed well. I've played it twice (once with you) and I haven't died yet on it ... although I saw you get fried! lol An infinite lives check point might help those who had less fortunate experiences than I did. - About the visible bolts that are outside, towards the beginning. Maybe (just maybe) you could use stickers or material to make those bolts look like the tops of scopes. In other words, the aliens use those for surveillance of the planet's surface. Just a thought. - I don't remember seeing any stars at the end of the level. They could be there and I just forgot.. but if there aren't any stars in the distance, that would be a nice touch. Overall: This is my favorite original level you've made.. and actually one of my favorites that anyone has made. It was fresh, it was fun, it was full of new ideas and humor. It just doesn't get much better than this. Great job!! 5 :star:'s Hearted If you ever get grief on your uploaded level pics, go to this thread and our team will help you asap! https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=17390 | 2009-12-14 18:19:00 Author: Powershifter Posts: 668 |
Wow, I really liked this level. The presentation, gameplay, and graphics were near flawless. I also liked the humour in it. I lol'd when the guy blew open the doors. I liked the laser idea aswel, good stuff. My only complaint is that the aliens with the guns which you had to kill from a slope, were a bit annoying to get. But then again I am a n00b. Overall five stars. (I forgot to heart it but I will!) | 2009-12-14 20:46:00 Author: AgentBanana Posts: 511 |

as i am doing a space level at the moment (working on it) called operation Bravo:space continuum i will be delighted to check it out for you when i get the chance (revision for GCSE's) | 2009-12-14 23:54:00 Author: geddez12 Posts: 338 |
That was simply amazing. I don't understand how you built that. My personal favorite sections are the intro and the laser chase at the end. I really don't know what improvements could be made, the atmosphere was perfect. Really the only thing I didn't love was that it was quite easy, but it didn't need to be difficult to be great. This is the best level I've played on LBP so far. 5:star: + heart If you want F4F: https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=p=351542#post351542, but it's horrible compared to this. | 2009-12-15 06:10:00 Author: Tomo009 Posts: 274 |

First off, i'm pleased you liked the level... I think it's the best level i've made too! Pros section: There are a few connections to films (and a game) through the level. Star Wars was definitely one i was thinking of at the sewage pipe scene! The overall idea was based on Planet X off of Timesplitters although the aliens are modeled more on those seen in Mars Attacks. There's even a reference to Anchor Man! Lol, the intro took a while to time... I've timed the 'Ladylyn, Presents, Planet X' bit to finish exactly when the music does... that wasn't easy but im glad it worked. And yeah, I didn't want a massive boss battle for two reasons... 1) like you said I think i've done my fair share of difficult ones. 2) Thermometer was at maximum at that point and really don't know where I got the extra space from. Suggestions section: The piece of glass you can see has a camera on it... When the engine of the spacecraft explodes, that glass moves up and down quickly. I tried cutting it but it just won't go invisible without losing the camera!!! Darn. I've already tweaked the laser section and tbh it is much better. Its basically just got a shallower slope so that it is easier to walk down slowly. I made the bolts invisible and moved them slightly so that it is easier to get up... Nice idea tho, still got me thinking how I could pull that one off. And yeah there are stars at the end! Thanks again for a very detailed review and glad u liked the level! | 2009-12-15 10:19:00 Author: ladylyn1 Posts: 836 |
The piece of glass you can see has a camera on it... When the engine of the spacecraft explodes, that glass moves up and down quickly. I tried cutting it but it just won't go invisible without losing the camera!!! Darn. Two options: Use Rubber. Easy peasy. Use the same setup, but hide it behind another layer. Edit: having played it again, this would most definitely work. Attach it to some dark matter, tweak it as desired, and then move the whole thing behind the thick layer. I played this the other day and thought it was probably your best level as well. I thought the character designs were a little rough, but I like how you altered them slightly in different areas. I guess cartoony worked here. The guy peaking around the wall was hilarious. The platforming areas just outside the crash (at the start) looked very nice. Well done. I was a bit let down by the ending rocket flight. I might have preferred something more climactic than just killing it. Either way, nicely done. Thanks for sharing. | 2009-12-15 14:04:00 Author: comphermc Posts: 5338 |
OK, so I DID play this the day you sent me the message that you had published this, but I am a bit slow to posting my feedback. You saw what I was working on, so hopefully you understand Smooth and very fun. The chase scene almost snuck up on me, though, but good overall. Nice comical characters and dialogue, too. Was there a reference to Anchor Man in there? Anyway, nice job. Keep it up. | 2009-12-15 21:09:00 Author: Hibbsi Posts: 203 |

Thanks for the hint. Looks much neater now. As for the last rocket flight- I was lucky to get one in... As you can imagine the thermo is topped out and pretty much all shapes are very simple. I was struggling from the last scene onwards. | 2009-12-15 21:47:00 Author: ladylyn1 Posts: 836 |

I just cant seem to get the balance right lol. Anyway thanks again for the feedback. | 2009-12-17 10:34:00 Author: ladylyn1 Posts: 836 |
Hi ladylyn, Just played your level this afternoon. Nice opening titles. Striking. I like the font you selected there. Characters were cute and made me chuckle. Some challenging angles in shooting at the aliens, but I like a good challenge! Great level overall. I too would have liked to see a more dynamic ending to the final rocket section but I read your post regarding the thermo so I guess that explains that. 5 stars. :star::star::star::star::star: | 2009-12-20 05:07:00 Author: SHENOA77 Posts: 184 |

Yeah I would have liked to add a better ending, but hey it makes a change from the difficult bosses we normally get! Thanks again for the 5 stars. Note: The level experienced the 'Game Create Error' glitch. It seems to happen when I make significant changes to the level and try to republish. Oh well, a new copy is up now. Also a link to the video has been added, thanks to 'maliciavivaYT' | 2009-12-21 11:34:00 Author: ladylyn1 Posts: 836 |
A couple of updates taken from the new POTC pack: Water added to the sewers section. Alternative music added to the introduction and end of the level. | 2009-12-22 21:39:00 Author: ladylyn1 Posts: 836 |
This was a very nice level, it definitely deserves a lot more plays that it has now. It was beautiful from start to finish. Humorous characters, rich detail, great gameplay; this level has everything! I especially liked the intro at the beginning; it was quite amusing and awesome at the same time. I did get killed quite a bit and got a little irritated, but that didn't stop me from giving you: :star::star::star::star::star: If you don't mind; F4F: The Cave Ruins 2 | 2009-12-24 06:07:00 Author: galacemiguel Posts: 179 |
I enjoyed the heck out of this level, didn't really know what to except when I was going into it and was pleasantly surprised. The characters are simple and stylized wich, imo, is even better for the comedy in this one. Great gameplay & the level tickled my funny bone all the way through. 5 stars and a heart, very well done. Once upon a time, the level had about 12000 plays but don't remind me... (goes off to cry) I'm glad the humour came across... do you think it would be more enjoyable if the difficulty was toned down a bit? (I'm always trying to make improvements). Thanks again! I just tried to finish the level, but I couldn't get pass the "soldier" you have to kill (standing in the upper left corner of the room). I didn't know how to kill him... and I was unable to finish the game Up to that moment, the level was great! | 2009-12-27 04:40:00 Author: Unknown User |
