Could There Ever Possibly Be Lighting DLC?

Archive: 19 posts

When I look at the shots of PS3 levels, with multicolor lighting effects, then compare them to a PSP shot with no lighting differences, I get a little face like Because I know I'll have to live with the latter.

So I'm just asking, would it be possible to have lighting DLC? I mean they had costumes, water, etc. for the PS3. But then again who knows how badly level creator would glitch with it. Maybe after they fix the creator bugs?

This sounds more like suggestions then news and media...

But on the topic anyway, sure, I don't see why not.

Sorry, I wasn't sure about locating this topic because I didn't think I was really suggesting anything but asking about new downloads for LBP, but then again it does sound like I'm giving an idea.2009-12-13 06:07:00

Someone recovered unused tutorial videos on the UMD version that shows lighting effects, so I hope it is in future DLC.2009-12-13 14:32:00

Yeah, Darth J464 (hey I got your name right ) is right. I also saw this tutorial video on youtube, it seems Sony was planning to include lighting effects, but the lighting effects weren't included in the final game.

Well, I really want those lighting effects, I feel a bit bored with only having the backgrounds to change, that gives slightly different atmospheres.2009-12-23 11:15:00

I can understand that its too difficult to add lights in as an object but night/day time would not have been that difficult would it?2009-12-23 11:46:00

I can see why they didn't include the lighting - I'm sure it was a bit taxing on the hardware. Still, I agree that a simple night/day option should be doable, as would simple global color filter options.2010-02-14 17:35:00

Presumably they require a lot more work than costumes and stickers, but it would be nice to see some new backgrounds with some different lighting schemes included. (please)2010-02-14 18:12:00

When in create mode, I noticed that while switching backgrounds that depending on the background the lighting on sackboy changes. I also noticed that the new wedding theme takes place at night.2010-03-02 00:17:00

Interesting finds, these videos. I can understand why the original lighting settings may not have made it into LBP, since it would be taxing on the already stressed hardware of the PSP. However, simple lighting would be very easy to muster...and I can't understand for the life of me why the picture feature was removed. It would be amazingly handy to have.2010-03-28 05:57:00

Maybe they only made the video and didn't start working on the actual feature.2010-03-28 23:42:00

Yes, that is likely the case. It would've been worth the wait to have them add it, however.
