Desirable Trial by Coxy224

Here's my second level, took about 3 or 4 hours and I think it's pretty good.

It's a simple platformer - no real story but just for a quick playthrough. It's not epicly long, but I think it's a nice length for a short burst on the psp.

So......

Hey Coxy224,

Another exquisite bitesize level! And it took you only 3-4 hours??? I must be really slow...but anyways, I enjoyed your level. My only suggestion would perhaps be changing the color palette as it reminds me of jackofcourse's "Little Platformer," and I feel this level has a lot more to offer on its own. And the material shifting took a bit from the aesthetics, but I know this is beyond your control.

Good job again: 4/5 stars, and I've hearted you before already.

Craving a longer level,

Excellent level, and one that I really enjoyed. A simple platformer, yes, but still very enjoyable. I can't wait to see a longer level from you!2009-12-12 17:45:00

Hidy Ho Coxy! I'm glad that you posted on your thread, because I had not noticed the thread until now. Anyway, I gave the level a play, and I enjoyed it a lot. I think the length is about normal for a PSP Platformer, and it was a lot of fun. I enjoyed the way you hooked up your springboard at the start. I would have used a piston, but you used a sping/winch system. It's always fun to see how different people approach the same thing

As has been mentioned before, the only real issue is that one grab switch which is a bit out of place, but that is not your fault. I wanted to make sure that you know that if you had used the corner edit tool on that circular object the switch is on, then that wouldn't have happened. Sorry if you already knew that. I had built about 75% of my level "Now and Then" before someone told me that, so I was ecstatic to find out, and I try to tell everyone that I can

Great work on the level, and I hope that more plays start pouring in, because the level is a lot of fun!

Yeah I love trying out new things, and the piston was going all weird and wobbly so I had to find a stabler method of making it.

Didn't know that at all, thanks for telling me!

I wasn't really sure what you were getting at with the title of this level, but after playing it I can say that it is absolutely the perfect name. It's a trial. Unlike other trial levels, however, it is non-obnoxious and actually fun. So simple and yet so effective.

Anyway, I loved this. If this is 3 or 4 hours for you, then you must work at light speed. It takes me that long sometimes just to adjust the timing of something I've already built, only to completely scrap it the next day because I don't like how it turned out. This is a great level visually - very soothing and straightforward but still layered and interesting.

I can't fault you for the material shifting issues, and it sounds like you know about them now anyway. I don't think there's a solution to preventing 2- and 3-way switches from getting screwed up, except perhaps for making them the very last things you add to a level before publishing it. Regardless, the few minor shifting issues I noticed really don't impact the level negatively in any way.

5 stars and hearted. You already have an author heart from me, so no soup for you! Great stuff and keep up the good work. Looking forward to your next one!

Nice work on this one Coxy! Got a chance to play it today and it's simple but very fun. Nice use of mateirals and it's well designed. Couple of minor layer things where the back layer was lower than the first made layer switching a bit tricky near the fire part at the end but it's minor at best.

I like your psp levels because they aren't terribly hard with the psp joystick and they look clean and bright. 5 stars & hearted!

Played it and loved it. It's one of those levels where your mind doesn't have to fustrate over an obstacle to hard, yet it's challenging.

Review
A quick boost of fun, Coxy224's Desirable Trial is both relaxing and visually beautiful. Using simple obstacles and minor deaths, Coxy has presented another great "relax" level like the short and sweet level, LittleBigAutumn[PSP] (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=19287). Although the layer switching is a minor problem, Coxy has made it up with the levels beauty. With the level done in only 3-4 hours, I wouldn't be surprised that Coxy has a new level on the way with all that spare time. Hopefully the fun is longer, seeing that this level keeps you wanting more.

:star::star::star::star::star: and a heart on the level.

P.S. I played it a couple of times to get the highscore. I just love getting on the scoreboard of levels I review.
