Random scrolling.
Archive: 5 posts
This is hard to explain but i will try my best. When i'm looking at the forums the page seems to zoom down to another post. It's really annoying when i'm reading somthing and it zooms down and i loose my place. I don't think it's my computer (But i have been wrong before about the Cannot connect to players thing) Because it doesen't happen on any other site. Is anyone else noticing this? And also this isn't much of a problem but for some reason when i first tried to post this thread it said: Doopz479, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons: 1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system? 2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation. Then i tried again and it worked | 2009-12-11 22:01:00 Author: Doopz Posts: 5592 |
The random scrolling happens when the site is trying to show you the newest post, and if you scroll up, a image may load or something else, and it will scroll you down again. | 2009-12-12 15:06:00 Author: warlord_evil Posts: 4193 |

ok thanks, at least i know there's nothing wrong with me/my computer Yep, this is actually a feature - if you're clicking the "last post" button on a thread, it will do exactly that: bring you to the last post. The thing is, it doesn't automatically bring you to that post until the page has completely loaded, so it may seem as if the page is "fighting" with you when in reality you just need to let it load completely before you try scrolling around. | 2009-12-12 17:30:00 Author: ConfusedCartman Posts: 3729 |
I bet the culprit are people's signature images. They tend to pretty big, both in terms of bandwidth and dimensions. Maybe there should be a tighter restriction on how big they can be. A limit of 1 instance per thread make sense because who wants to scroll past the same image 5 or 6 times on a page? | 2009-12-23 23:35:00 Author: TTH247 Posts: 11 |
