Just a little thought here, but why did Mm chose bubbles for a scoring mechanism? Why not cotton balls, or the original fluff idea? I wonder...

Probably just an artistic choice. They probably bounced around ideas and tried things, and point bubbles worked out well. Also, they are certainly more generic and would have wider appeal across different level types than fluff. So, in other words.... the idea worked.

I guess I don't understand why there wouldn't be bubbles. If they had made it out of bits of fluff, I could've just asked "Why not bubbles?" I'm sure they considered all the possibilities, and in the end decided on bubbles. I'm confident that there's not much else to it than that. Original fluff idea? Edit: darnit, CCubb.

Fluff wouldn't fit a sci-fi level, nor would it a medieval-themed level. Bubbles, however, sort of could. They're generic enough.

I think a better question is "Why is dissolve green"? I mean, why not make it red, or blue, or rainbow, or orange, or covered with peanuts? It needs to be something, what's wrong with what it is? :kz:

I think Ccubb's got it right, although I would have gone for the word "abstract" that generic. They are just little glowing orbs. In a way they don't really "fit" anywhere, so they never seem out of place I wanna know what's inside them, it looks kinda tasty...

Yes, Splat Invaders II would have been impossible with pieces of fluff as a scoring system - it would have been strange to have E.T. give out candy... and have little pieces of fluff pop out of him. The cool thing is - if you REALLY would rather have fluff than point bubbles, you could make the point bubbles really small and stick a fluff-like decoration on top of them.

Why does sonic collect rings? actually that is explained, i forgot what the reason is, but I think it is a source of power so the more he collects the more powerful he becomes. Mind you my source is from the 90's television show.

Sackboy's bubbles is a source of power too ya know, but that doesn't explain why they're bubbles. And so that sonic explanation doesn't explain why they're rings either... Matimoo, cool video. Those look really cool...

Bubbles are really fun in a way....Not to mention fluff and cotton in a war level or an intensly themed level would just be odd.... But you can put decorstions on bubbles to make them better!
