Need Logic Help (not for the feint of heart)

Archive: 13 posts

I'm stumped. I am trying to mash up the Advanced Elevator from the Logic Pack with being able to recognize you on being on multiple floors. I have been working on a few theories and drawing up plans and throwing paper away for 4 hours or so.

That is the basic breakdown, minus the blueprint for the modified toggle (it started hurting my head). Here is a picture of it though.

To clarify that a little: I have mag switch on the elevator connected to the top emitter. I have mag keys on the elevator shaft. The red switch makes the top piston extend moving the emitter. The bottom emitter spits out a piece of dissolve with blue and purple mag keys plus a paintball switch connected to the dissolve. The blue mag key activates the elevator, the purple extends the bottom piston. The top emitter spits out a paintball to dissolve the block of dissolve when the Mag switch on the elevator activates.
Very confusing, sorry. I did warn it wasn't for the faint of heart.
My problem is that the elevator doesn't come get you, it just continues on til it comes back. So if you fall to the floor, the elevator goes to the top and gets hung up in the middle.

Hellllpppp!!!!

Use sensor switches or whatever they are for the "Sackboy in..." inputs and magnetic lock switches (magnetic key in the elevator) for the "Elevator in..." inputs and a grab-able material in the elevator with a grab switch in the grab-able material for the "grab" input.2009-12-12 14:48:00

This isn't for two floors, this design is for multiple floors.2009-12-15 04:22:00

You will need some variable length piston set up. I have a thread about that. Let me find it...

Here we are. (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=16124)

I'll let you try the logic on your own.

Way ahead of you. Well, except for the logic. Still working on that. Having trouble with the piston strength and finding the aspirin.

And the grab switch should still function as per the two layer design. Tap the grab twice and you negate the first tap. I had an emitter based idea that didn't pan out so well. TheGide has an elevator that stop on individual floors. I'm going to try to tinker with that to see if I can get any ideas.2009-12-15 13:24:00

I have a double tap (with negation) design if you run into troubles.

As for the piston strength... use a 10 strength piston, and two 10 strength winches. The double winches are stronger than that piston.

I would like to take a more active role in helping out, but it's exam week, and I am super busy.

The Emitter in the picture emits a magnetic key next to it for 0,5s - 1s. The winch on the right has a longer minimum lenght than the left one.
If you grab the grab switch in the elevator, while in the bottom floor, it will take you to the 1st floor. If you grab the switch in the 1st floor, the elevator will take you to the 2nd floor. If you grab the switch in the 2nd floor, the elevator will take you to the bottom floor.
Like this: bottom --> 1st --> 2nd --> bottom

Also, I have no idea what you mean with that negating thing, sorry.

Haha, yikes! Get all that Penquin? I am better at understanding the problem when I am in create mode, so I can't quite see the solution yet...2009-12-15 17:17:00

If I can ever connect, stupid connection
I am getting on in 2 or three hours hopefully, got some more stuff taking away from my LBP time.
Anyway, if you are on I will invite you. I have a partial solution by Hibbsi in there as well.

So this is what I was working on? Haha, I never even saw this thread.
The last one I showed you seems to fit the criteria of what you're wanting, unless I'm misunderstanding something, which is very likely.

I might have what you are looking for in my new level 'Dead Memories' It's a multi-floor elevator (4 floors in the level but can be modified to accomodate more or less. There is a selector switch inside the actual elevator that lets you choose which floor you want to go to (like a real elevator) and a confirm switch that takes you to that floor. The elevator can detect which floor it is on and whether it needs to move up or down to take you to your desired floor. The logic is not that thermo-melting either. If this sounds like what you are looking for, send me a message.
