For this challenge you need to make some sort of vehicle capable of crossing over a large gap. It can do this however you want, whether it be jumping over, extending to the other side, flying across, building a bridge for itself or anything else - the more creative and original your idea, the better! http://community.eu.playstation.com/t5/image/serverpage/image-id/37160i1A4784CC8A8A371B/image-size/medium?v=mpbl-1&px=-1 For all the details abut this challenge, check out this thread at the Offical Playtation forums (http://community.eu.playstation.com/t5/LBP-General-Discussion/PS3-Contraption-Challenge-09-Gap-Crossing-Vehicle/td-p/9820255) which tells you everything you need to know. You have until Sunday 27th December 2009 to get your level/s published. All of the finalists will be featured in a video as usual, but this time it should (not 100% certin at this stage, but it's likely) be shown to the world on the Europen PlayStation blog. ![]() Good luck, and have fun! | 2009-12-11 12:09:00 Author: Nuclearfish ![]() Posts: 927 |

Yeah that logo brilliant, You are a brilliant creator nucleor. (this is were he says he didn't make it ![]() Thanks! (yes, I did make it) ![]() ![]() Anyway, enough about the logo - I can't wait to see what everyone makes. It's quite a tricky challenge, but hopefully you'll all think of some interesting ways of getting across. | 2009-12-11 17:13:00 Author: Nuclearfish ![]() Posts: 927 |
It just has to go over the gap right? Not be able to move further after that? ![]() | 2009-12-12 13:25:00 Author: Syroc ![]() Posts: 3193 |
Can the level itself go beyond the scope of the challenge? I had a way I thought might be neat to cross the gap - it was easier to do than I thought and I am done ... so I started playing with the level ... added a front end setup, some lighting, some sound ... ended up creating a second gap for it to cross - because just one gap wasn't satisfying ... and after all the work it looks stellar (in my own noob opinion) ... The question is, if I wanted to continue to make a level out of this thing - a real level - can I still enter it if part of the level contains the contraption/solution? | 2009-12-12 14:14:00 Author: Jaydetiger ![]() Posts: 64 |

It just has to go over the gap right? Not be able to move further after that? ![]() Yes. It still should be a kind of vehicle, so it's best if it at least drives/walks/moves up to the gap to begin with. But then all it needs to do is enable Sackboy to get across the gap, so once you're across it won't need to move further. Well, there's really no limit as to how much you can do. But it would be best to publish a shorter version as well. Doesn't matter if you still have multiple gaps to show off it's re-useability, but when the time comes to play all the levels and vote, it's better if they only last a couple of minutes max. Is anyone else thinking of a robot lemming step builder drone? What are you waiting for?? Go and build it! Now! ![]() | 2009-12-12 19:28:00 Author: Nuclearfish ![]() Posts: 927 |

Well, my frog tank is pretty hard to use, because it takes practice. You have to be on level ground, and wait for the tank to be completely still, ect. But once you get the hang of it, it's pretty consistent. I probably could update it to make it easier if I made it lighter, but it wouldn't be as realistic. Shoul I do something like that? Another question, can it be attached to baloons overhead,or peach floaty? The gap is about 3 or 4 tank lengths long too. Is that ok? | 2009-12-13 00:35:00 Author: Incinerator22 ![]() Posts: 3251 |

Two entries published: CC09 - Moonwasp CC09: Emitroporter (I'de also love feedback from anyone on the Emitroporter because I think it may be on the edge of rules but I wanted something a little off the path) | 2009-12-13 16:59:00 Author: Jaydetiger ![]() Posts: 64 |

Why does sackboy find it so hard to jump when hes on a bridge!? eh.. i'm sure players will get across fine.. its the contraption that matters right!? ![]() Published my entry: "CC09 entry =)" I would love feedback ![]() | 2009-12-17 22:52:00 Author: R0GUE--Elite ![]() Posts: 118 |
Tried your contraption, and i found it GREAT! In the beginning, the look wasn't so good. But when i saw what it did, i totally changed my mind. Ingenious, works well and it's very very interesting. Suggestion: change the title! Give it a good name! Bridge-Maker, Gap-Passer, everything, but a simple "CC09 entry" is banal! | 2009-12-19 21:53:00 Author: Dante95 ![]() Posts: 504 |
I got a great couple of ideas for this! ![]() | 2009-12-20 09:01:00 Author: ktang77 ![]() Posts: 592 |
thanks for the feedback, dante. I'm calling it ROBB (rusty old bridge builder) I'm sorry that you didnt like its aesthetics ![]() oh, and thankyou nuclearfish, for the comment ![]() "...very contraption-ish!" - it is a contraption challenge after all! ![]() | 2009-12-21 13:08:00 Author: R0GUE--Elite ![]() Posts: 118 |
If anyone is still wanting to enter, you've got the rest of the weekend to get your entries done. ![]() Well, my frog tank is pretty hard to use, because it takes practice. Is that ok? Sorry for the late response. Doesn't matter if it's difficult to use, but it is better if it's easier. You can use balloons or floaty of you want. And the gp can be as big as you like, but at least big enoguh so that if your vtank were to st drive over it it would fall down or get stuck. (TSFRJ's train is a good example - the gap is tiny, Sackyboy can jump it, but the train can't get across). | 2009-12-26 15:33:00 Author: Nuclearfish ![]() Posts: 927 |
