We're doing it again! 16 players competing against each other to win 1000xp and a $5.99 or less game of their choice from the US PSN store!

For those of you who didn't know, 16 people from the LBPC community have been playing a LBP version of Survivor - competing in challenges, voting each other out - since November. There are currently 7 players left and that game looks like it will finish mid-December.

A new game has started!

Regular Game Format:
Once we get 16 players, I'll divide them into two teams of eight. Every 2-3 days there will be a challenge where the two teams face off and one is declared the winner. The losers must vote one of their team out of the game.

Players will each be invited to their team's group page. There, they can interact with fellow teammates and get all of the latest updates on the game.

Once a good portion of players have been eliminated (exact number to remain secret until it happens), the two teams will merge and competitions will then become individual. The winner of these individual challenges gets immunity from being voted off. All remaining players will vote for one of those remaining.

Once we get down to the final two, the seven most recently eliminated players (9th-3rd Place) will each cast a vote for who they want to win. Most votes in the final vote becomes the Sole Survivor.

Rules and format for each challenge will be presented to the players following each vote.


Doesn't LBP max out at 4 players?
Since LBP maxes out at 4 players, I've devised challenges that will work around that limitation. Some challenges will have the individual contributions of each team's members adding up to a whole, some will have head to head battles, some will require 2-3 from a team working together. Since we had quite a few players either bail or stay and be completely inactive, I'm increasing the recruitment period and will do a RADICALLY different trial this time around.

Want in? Here's what you need to do.
Post in this thread saying that you want to play. Once you do, I'll send you an invite to the Survivor: LBP2 group and a questionnaire to fill out. Join the group and send back the completed questionnaire and you'll be accepted into the trial.

For the trial, I plan on taking around 24 potential recruits and spending a week seeing what they've got. I'll interact with them, see them interact with each other, and present simple tasks - sort of pre-challenges to see what everyone can do and whether or not someone's serious. Once the trial period is over, I'll take the best 16 players into the real game. If there are more than 16 that really stand out as awesome, then we can do this with more players.

However, there are some requirements for potential players:
Be willing to play a few levels with me as a part of the trial so that I can personally see what you're capable of.
Once the 16 are chosen, you must let me know who, if any of the players you have a preexisting relationship with.
Be willing to check the forum at least once a day and play in a challenge once every 2-3 days.
Be willing to stick with this game for as long as you're still in it. If this starts right away, we'll probably end sometime in mid-late February.
Be able to take in game screenshots and either post them online or send them to me.
Be knowledgable of and able to use the LBPC chat and messaging system.
Be able to respond to messages and group posts in a timely manner.
Be willing to follow the rules of a given challenge.
Be willing to follow the rules of the overall game.

They are no real limits to who can join this game. Please be somewhat coherent and have at least some grasp of how to play LBP. I also advise anyone who wishes to play to look up the basics of Survivor.

As I said before, the winner gets 1000XP and a PSN game of their choice costing $5.99 or less from the US store.

Wow, lots of interest already! Indeed there were quite a few (and still are D: ) duds in this first season. I believe its been more of a test run so to speak in several ways. Getting used to irregularities with cometchat, and lbp lag, and random bugs, etc ;p

But for all you people thinking about it, it has been a good bit of fun. Its a fair amount of commitment, and there are errors (talk to S3x if you want to hear about those ;p) but its been a rather entertaining way to play the game.

I'm going to be involved in this second season in some way... i'm not sure how yet though, we'll see after i win season one (If i win that is )		2009-12-11 20:41:00

I'm not sure about what I'll do. There were so many flaws that I doubt I would want to do it again, but at the same time it might be better this time assuming mrradical learned from some mistakes.

I'll see how the rest of the current season goes. I'm with Burn, I have been thinking for days that I could just maybe help mrradical with the organizing of this one, or help in some way like that, however if it's ran better this time I might enter again.

*can hear mrradical now "oh god, not another season of her complaints, even though they were valid" lol *

Yeay, great to hear that another round is planned! It's been fun following this one so far. I appreciate, though, what commitment it demands from the contestants (and from mr Radical, too!) so it's good to see so many people have already expressed an interest in joining in...nobly sacrificing themselves for the entertainment of the rest of us, lol! Long may it continue.

Trying to organise something like this to run smoothly with people in different time zones and with the faults in the LBP itself must be well-nigh impossible and I?m sure everyone involved has learned a lot from the whole process.

I hope it does continue as it has been genuinely interesting seeing people compete in the different challenges, their different approaches and attitudes and how a range of skills is required to succeed. Good human interest stuff! 		2009-12-11 22:44:00

You can't see in front of you so whoever is first is bound to get smashed into the gas because they can't see. Half the deaths have been like that. And I hate the idea that an amazing platformer could make a simple mistake and end up losing the round.		2010-01-13 23:48:00

That tie breaker is really great viewing. Tense stuff and not Marquess of Queensbury rules either by the looks of it, lol!

Honestly? We actually went a few times because mr radical had to iron out a few bugs that were just completely unfair (the bubbles appearing in two locations in succession namely) so we did have some practice... technically ;-; But it wouldn't be fair for the first few times to count, the game was cheap then D:.

Anyway, mr radical and ittlebigdude then proceed to show off and play the level for at least five minutes, so yeah, it's possible... if you had powah >_>		2010-01-17 22:41:00

I've been watching the videos of challenge 3 and its true that looks like it could make a really fun and original survival level if you expanded on it a bit! Great to watch anyway. Loved the music too - it had a great underwater feel to it but also created a real sense of jittery tension/panic!

As of right now, we're taking a break from the Survivor concept after this season ends. It's been difficult to keep the game going when on average, half of the players in a season are inactive. However, we're starting up a new contest in February. Instead of teams and voting, everyone will play on their own and earn points in each challenge. The player with the most points at the end wins. You should focus more on the cosmetic part fo the challenges. And you should even make a tribal immunity statue a individual immunity necklace and 1 hidden immunity idol. For this season about the idol even though i don't think it was a good idea to force the players to collect 10 stickers !!! To get to the idol. Going to the idol shouldnt be so hard. The real struggle should be figuring out were to go. Allthough i mannaged to guess that the idol was in the blood ocean level ( Beacuse it was the newest level. But i didn't have enough time to look for it. And the level seemed to be abit to cheap on temperature. So it would propably be easier to hide the idol there than on an overheated level. Allso an idol that required you to look for 10 freaking stickers should have worked as the idol from exile island ( You don't need to play it. It will protect you iff you have the highest numbers of votes and it is usable to the final 4)

I think that you should have an exile island. Were the leader of the winning tribe sends someone were they will receive a dissadvantage of some kind in the next immunity challenge and get a change to look for the hidden immunity idol ( So that the system encourrages activity) In exile island. The players should have to fight their way up to the skull of exile island were they will be givven the clues to the location of the hidden immunity idol.

I must say im abit dissapointed in the clues of the hidden immunity idol.I mean " the idol is in the blood ocean level " or " no No No. Study the clues on the show. The clues on the show= This note covers must information wich you better head or else it's your'e own loss." You should have refrased it " Many have spilled their blood to find the idol they craved. But they were unable to get themselves saved." In that way you are not giving away were it is. But you are hinting that the hidden immunity idol has something to do with blood.

You should have a set of clues. Were allthough it is impossibe to find it without any clues. It is possibel to find it with the first clue: but very unlikely.

For exampel. The second hidden immunity idol on the first season.

Clue 1 = "There are no great bosses, or monsters to slain, But there is great power for someone to claim. If you depart to the left all the efforts invain. No stickers are needed., Just endurance in this game "

The idol was hidden in the blue level. Were players could go to the left or the right ( Unlocking the left part after finding a sticker) This clue does give a clue to the possibel location. Because you can figure out that there are 2 paths on the level at the start and that there are unnecesary stickers you don't need ( and a sticker switch at the start) And the clue sounds reaaaly cool to =P

Clue 2 = The immunity idol is locked up and opens with the firm grips, You have to unlock it, or else it may slip. Trough several sponges you unlock the treasure. Retreiving the idol could be your'e great pleasure.

This clue basicly gives away that the idol is hidden at some secret part that unlocks after you grab an amount of sponges troughout a level. If someone bothers to check the level they will be able to see there are blue sponges that doesn't seem to have any actual function in the blue level.

Clue 3 = A colour of heavens, and oceans alike. The soaly nyanses that calms you at night. The idol is hidden in a temple of trials. Endure it's great test and stay alive at the tribals.

This makes the player guess that the idols level is associated to " blue " and that it is some kind of temple like enviroment with several puzzles/trials you have to endure to prevail.

Clue 4 = A foggy settings will turn a darker fade of blue. You can get past the blue gas and succeed commming trough. You can do this alone you will not need a crew. Once you accomplished your'e mission you'll see this is true.

" turn a darker fade of blue= the description of one of your'e level. And there was alot of gas to get past."

This clue is enough. You will not need any more clues to figure out what the level is. If you can not do that you shouldnt be in the competition at all.

Another exampel ( for the absolutely frist idol that i founded)

Clue 1 If being victorius is your'e obsession. You need great power in your'e possesion. The idol is hidden, and deserted. Find the key and you will earn it.

Clue 2 The real key is a sticker, found on an seperated course. Use the key at the lock, and you'll prevail of course. A hidden immunity idol requires a hidden elevator, that will take you to another plain. work hard and don't quit, and immunity obtain.

Clue 3 The second key is coloured blocks, hidden in the second section. If you find the locker, It might be the path to idol protection, then all thats needed is courrage, and a keen sense of dedection.

You need rymes to the clues. And maybe you need to hire me so i can cosmeticly upgrade the level and take care of hiding the idol/building tc and exile island for you.

Incase the idol is hidden in exile island in a cave at the top of the mountain in the exile island, in a dark room were the players can " sense their way trough and over the pits with the sticker clues and has several hard pits"

Clue1 Why is your'e fate so dark that you can not even predict, If you want to redeem your'e misstakes you will have to be fit. The light never seems to cease but it is dark indeed. But light is not needed to save you, all you truly need is idolity and greed !

It is possibel to guess that it is in some dark place.

Clue 2 The idol is proctection granted by a higher force. If you intend to find the idol, then search near it's source. The hidden immunity idol is not exposed to the naked eye, Nor is it hidden under the sea. Finding the right dungeon might be a key.

Here you can guess it is hidden at the mountain somewere in one of it's many caves.

Clue3 When eyes is no more other senses are sharpent. Advance your'e self with sense like a serpent. This tool is for images but is usefull for more. Use it correctly and you'll very well score.

A clue about the methods of finding the idol.

Clue4 At the very top of the skull island. You will find the dungeon you'd like. Use the sticker/decoration edditing tool and avoid the great spikes. The idol is enlightned by the heroes presence. But don't let them know you have it,or the tribal will be tense "

Now there is no way to miss the idol.

You should have 1 challenge published at all time ( With alot of cosmetic work to make it remind of the real survivor) But somewere on the level. Players can find a key to exile island. Exile island should be like a towering island in 4 parts. The first part = first clue is availible after the first challenge. and so on. There are diffrent kind of obstacles to over come ( very hard of course since finding the idol shouldnt be easy. But plausibel) So basicly have an exile island with alot of good hiding spots for the idol (allthough the first idol should not be hidden in exile island) And with REAL WATER ZOMG.

Have the players taking the innative to search trough the challenge levels after competing in the challenge fight hard to get to the idol ( For exampel. Have no check points at all. So that players will get frustrated and be forced to play several times.) But only have exile island up for so long. When the next challenge starts you delete the first challenge and unpublish exile island ( Republish it later and locked again but with the second part of the exile island mountain unlocked so players have the cahnge to earn the second clue to the location, of the hidden immunity idol.) Exile island should be a lethal mountain divided into a 4 sections ( In height. Like a tower but a mountain isntead. You can have enemys or plattforming obstacles in the way). If the key to exile island is hidden in the challenges then the players who are trhe most active and dedicated will found the key to the idol. And will fight exile islands hazzards to get their.

But DONT have 10 stickers you need to collect. Or you will have to make the hidden immunity idol more powerfull.( Like in exile island and cook islands were you can use it as a lifeinsurance. Being immune just by carrying it) You should ahve 4 clues in the nature i described before. You want to give players the illusion that they are in the show so the actual challenges should be in some kind of forest/beach/mountain with the challenge. After compeating players can then search the challenge level to find tbhe key to exile island. ANd definetly don't give away any clues on the webbsite.

Once an idol is used or the person in the possesion of the idol is voting out without using the idol. Exile island should be updated removing the old clues and having the new clues in. And since there is only 1 idol It should be usable up to the final 4 not the final 5 ( Wich means 2 people can be immunie. and 2 people valnurable at the last time the idol can be used. As was the case in exile island and cook island were one of the final 4 players had immunity. Another one had the idol. And 2 were valnurable.

You need to select a theme. I recomend having panama as a theme. And naming the season " lbp survivor exiile island " (s study survivor allstars. Survivor exile island and survivor pearl islands to see the settings.) At every challenge the players should be able to see the tribel immunity statue/ individual immunity necklace to sorta motivate them ( And mantain the illusion that you are actually on the show) Allso Mr Radicall should never ever chat in a challenge( Like he did in one of the challenges from the past season when he made a text massage that blocked the screem on the challenge were 3 people were on the balance thingys) The host should only observe. In addition try to make a jeff probst sackboy for your'e self radical.

You need to have a team flag for the 2 starting tribes and the merging tribe. Good looking ones in addition ( Study the flags on the show). And the competitions should be more survivor like and innovative.

Suggestions

" Have an obstacle course in the first challenge as usual. But make it look more like the survivor gauntlests. Even though you are in the middle of a jungle the wood allways is painted in bright colours in the show. So combined the look of a jungle/beach/ocean with painted wodden pile."

" Have a challenge were you controll a cannon and have to aim at as many targets as possibel while travvelling on a boat.
You should allso have a tribal councill area ( As in the show) Starting with a hike in the jungle to wodden rope bridges and the contestant sets. Jury set. And some kind of room were you can see the status of all the players who have been elimanted and are still alive ( Represented by fire torches ofc)

As for the price. Who could care less about some psn game ? (I was in the first season for the glory of winning.) You should try to get MM involved and give away a beta key to the winner. You should make all the cahllenges and exile island and alot of hiding spots ready even before the game starts. You should have the merge at the top 8 not at the top 10 ( So that less active persons will be voted out. Still inactive ones in the first merge) and The challenges shouldnt demand the specific 2 person to be on at the exact same time ( Like highscore challenges)

I can only imagine the amount of dedication this takes to keep running.

As for the immunity idol, I have tried to find it a few times and have found a few interesting things along the way such as invisible steps and various stickers, but alas, I wasn't good enough. Still, it's cool to have a nice side challenge if people have the extra time.

Not running. Helping you design your'e challenges and the clue to the idol. You don't need to gather everyone together. But you should have a tribal councill area as a cool way of seeing who's tourch is still burning and as a possibel location to the hidden immunity idol.

I think that you need to have an exile island that you republish everytime a new challenge comes as a cool way to get the actual clue. And that you study the clue on the shows. For examepl " See if you can find anything up the steps ( In the blood ocean level as the previus clue stated) " I mean what in.... no no no.....

Have etheir exile island.. Or clues to the hidden immunity idol hidden at the reward challenges. And as for the grand prize. Im in it for victory. But not everyone is. Maybe you should send a price trough the mail ( like a lbp doll or survivor statue) to the winner. This will get more dedicated people in for sure.

When it comes to challenges. A jumping challenge... what in.. U should have had the players jumping over a swamp trying to make it as far as possibel not just the plain jungle.. Look at all the decorations they have on the real show. Like in survivor china first immunity challenges were they had a cool dragonh the teams carried while racing.

Or as in Tocantins/vanuatu were they climbed on to a pole for as long time as possibel. Or as in survivor marquesas were they stood on a tolly. Or as in fiji when they stood on 2 small very narrow perges. Or as in china were they sat on a barrel that had water pouring out fo it.) The final immunity challenge should allso be about willpower/endurance as in survivor borneo/africa/marquesas/allstars were the final immunity challenge was to keep the hands on an immunity statue for as long as possibel. Or thailand were they held coins in their hands. Or amazon were they had to stand on a narrow perge. Or pearl islands were they were standing with all 4 on a floating wodden plattform. Or as in vanuatu when tehy were holding a bow. Or as in palau when they were on a boey.)

What a bunch of unabmitius noobs. Despite having clues telling them EXACTLY were the Hidden Immunity Idol was. They were to stupid to find it !!??? What the . I woudl ahve found the idol if it wasn't because my ps3 died and i didn't feel like having YaHoo ( I suspected it was in the new levels, etheir blood ocean or ice castle level. Due to it taking les effort to hide the idol in a low thermo level than a masterpiece that fills the thermo)

I would have founded the Hidden Immunity Idol before round 3 if i was left alive in the game =/ Then i would have used it to give my self idol protection just liek i did in the first season. It is not your'e fault that nobody got the idol Mr Radical. I mean since it was possibel to find and that it was super easy clues. But it was the stupid contestants. Oh yes i can. In the first season i found BOTH the hidden immunity idols location ( allthough Burnvictim found the second one faster than i did ) And i didn't even need any seeriuosly dumbed down clues to do so. You mannaged to get past the idols power but you should have tried to found it since you couldn't be sure that you would be safe trough the final 5.

I remember burnvictim from season 1. He allso found both idols. ALlthough i found the first one before he did. He should have been on this season to. Infact i mannaged to sence were the hidden immunity idol was in this season to. My ps3 died before i could claim it =/ However allthough the group was lazy in not retrieving the Hidden immunity idol. You played a good game in outlasting the hidden immunity idol ( The power of the idol expires at the final 5 when it is the last time to use it) SO great game for all the final 5. But not for incinerator =(

about the hidden immunity idol... here's what needed to be done to get it:

first, you needed to add me on messenger. as soon as you did, I sent you a sticker key. that could be used in my level blood ocean.

once the key was used, a wall would pop up with pictures of the icons for 8 of my levels. these pictures were all sticker switches.

near the beginning of each of those 8 levels, usually in the first 2 or 3 rooms and well before anything got difficult, was a sticker corresponding to the switches in blood ocean. once those were collected and used, 8 platforms would lower that would let you go to the right of blood ocean's starting point. Once in there, there's a small swimming course, some sponge grab monkey bars, and a series of glass platforms to jump on.

at the end of the glass platforms was one final sticker switch with a picture of the blood ocean icon. there was a final sticker just past the bomb section in blood ocean. once this sticker key was used, the hidden immunity idol would lower.

since the instructions said that you'd need to send me a picture of you grabbing the idol, you'd either need a second player in the level with you or a camera to take a picture of your TV.

i actually sent pictures of the exact spot to use the messenger sticker key to everyone on messenger right after joey got eliminated... oh well..		2010-02-05 04:34:00

Yes fatman. I am bitter that i was forced to sit and watch a bunch of incompatible noobs that couldnt even find some freaking idol despite abnormally dumbed down clues...... ANd that i couldn't go for the win since my ps3 died. I think that it is simply so stupid for every player except the 4 that survived the expiring date of the hidden immunity idol.........
