a slight complaint...
Archive: 9 posts
so i was posting earlier about a sackboy plush doll and you know how when you type the title suggestions come up...well i clicked one and it was supposively a very interesting picture i wasn't able to see there was an unkown error...sooo i replied saying there was an error and then the next posts i see are telling me not to bump old threads....i hadn't even noticed the date but then i am like okay if you don't want an old post bumped why then reply to it as well? seems kinda contridictory to me...and then a moderator came and locked it... i guess now i'll be checking dates or maybe not :/ then i was thinkin more and i am like...well if they don't want old posts read (this post was a year old) then why is it still here? why not just get rid of it? i understand if it is an informative post...well if it is very helpful i am sure people can thank it and flag it helpful so it can stay in the archives.... alls i am saying is if the moderators don't want old posts "bumped" then prevent it eh? (so they don't pop up in related searches to someones topic) | 2009-12-11 05:07:00 Author: Unknown User |
They lock it because they don't want to un-organize the forums, but you can look at old posts and threads. If there were old threads everywhere being moved around all the time, confusion would happen, some people might try talking to people that have been inactive for months, without realizing it. Threads you can bump are things that are updated, such as a level. I know what thread your talking about, which was locked. You can still view it, the picture has errors there for me too. There are two reasons (maybe one) that this would probably not be the best solution. For one, like warlord_evil said, a lot of the old threads have useful information that a lot of people might want to know, if these threads were deleted a lot of important information would be lost. Second, unless there is some sort of coding or program I don't know about, it would take a lot of effort to delete all the old threads, there are hundreds upon thousands of threads on this site, some very old, some not so old. How are we suppose to figure out which one is deemed old enough to be deleted? Basically, easier said then done. By the way, this should be placed in Site Feedback, I'll move it for you. | 2009-12-11 05:28:00 Author: Whalio Cappuccino Posts: 5250 |
For one, like warlord_evil said, a lot of the old threads have useful information that a lot of people might want to know, if these threads were deleted a lot of important information would be lost. Precisely this. The "similar threads" feature simply exists to help you find the answer you're looking for more quickly. In general, if you have to chose between bumping a thread that has not been posted in for a while (two weeks or more) or creating a new thread, just start a new thread. | 2009-12-11 05:45:00 Author: ConfusedCartman Posts: 3729 |
Is it just me or is the "Who's Online" feature gone? I see it when I'm actually logged in but when I'm logged off and wish to see who's online (usually located on the bottom of the forum page) it disappears. Anyone care to clarify? advance thanks. I would have posted this on the original thread, but it's been locked. | 2009-12-11 19:28:00 Author: divemonkey1 Posts: 41 |

I would have posted this on the original thread, but it's been locked. It was disabled as part of our effort to lower the forum footprint. From now on, only logged-in users will be able to see who else is logged-in. | 2009-12-11 22:02:00 Author: ConfusedCartman Posts: 3729 |
Could threads not get locked automatically if they havn't been posted in for a month or so? Surely there must be a script that can do that. | 2009-12-13 16:59:00 Author: adlingtont Posts: 321 |
