That's super wierd...I've seen many a 'strange lights in the sky' video and pictures...but never something which had a spiral so mesmerizing... It's not like it's a small spiral either...2009-12-10 00:20:00

Well I've just watched a video and, this is probably a stupid idea, but the spiral arms seem to be sucking in and then the center goes black. It seems eeriely like a black hole in that sence, but this close to Earth it cant be...

I think it would be some sort of military weapon or scientific test or something.
OR ALIENS!

/plot thickens

EDIT: Or a time/space continuum breakdown.
EDIT2: Or a missile that broke the sound barrier and relieved some air, causing a hole in the trail of gas or steam or whatever.

It's weird it happened on the day of Obama's Nobel Prize ceremony. Not saying that it means anything, but it's still weird.2009-12-10 06:58:00

The idea that it's aliens is more of a fun one than realistic

I'd say it's some sort of light bending comet that we're not familiar with, or some sort of man-made thing that we're not meant to know about

Just thought of a really boring theory. Maybe it's just a REALLY powerful projector, you know like a batman style searchlight thing

Isn't it supposed to be a failed rocket or something like that?

I'm all for a wormhole, mind you. Much more interesting than broken rockets.

I hate to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but the blue light trailing to the right makes me think that it was a weapons testing. Like smoke out of a black powder gun you know. I know with all the advancements we should already have it should be possible. And the US military is missing money, large amounts of money. They are saying that a new tank, nicknamed The Bear costs alot to make, but when it was first shown, the guy who designed it stressed that not only was it effective but it was very cheap. So if they are doing that on a massive scale then they would have plenty of money to fund experiments. It would make sense to say that they were doing research and development when it misfired or did not operate correctly.

Or we are seeing someone trying to mimic Flash Forward LOL

Isn't CERN in that area?

CERN is in Switzerland/France, but they are working underground anyway. 2009-12-10 08:49:00

Maybe the doomsday people were right about the Large Hadron Collider after all! We must form an angry mob to dismantle it at once! To the pitchfork and torches store everyone! 2009-12-10 13:37:00

Potentially better video:

I'm going with the rocket theory here although I'm not sure I buy that it's out of control. I wouldn't consider myself an expert on rockets, but this thing is nothing close to sporadic as it's spiraling in what seems to be a perfect pattern. Fascinating to say the least.

Yeah so I'm gonna go with a rocket-- it looks like what I would expect to happen if I kicked-off one of the tail-fins of those classic cartoon rockets.

What I really find amazing is the amount of video available... amazing!

Perhaps the Norwegian government were testing a new weapon that creates mini black holes. Y'know, like the rift inducer from Ratchet and Clank. 2009-12-10 18:05:00

Said to be a failed missile, but I'm skeptical, like a movie heh, something weird happens, oh it was the military screwing up again. Not quite sure I buy it, I'm sure there's a logical explanation but it just seems to symmetrical to be a failed test. Even if they say it happened high in the atmosphere.2009-12-10 19:04:00
