Looking for suggestions.

Greetings Friends,

I have some questions you may have a pointer to:

1) What editors will allow me to create images for my levels?
2) How can I increase or decrease the depth of a plane since there are only 3 to work with.
3) I have Bryce 3D and would like to import some shapes, what format can I use? DXF?
4) Is there a way to create an object and have it rotate on the horizontal axis not just vertical.
5) What good 3rd party paint tool can I use to paint my creations?
6) How can I achieve symetry when creating wheel spokes for example?

Ok,no more questions just a big thanks to all whom may have a suggestion or two.

Thank you all for your time in reading this email, we'll keep in touch!

Best Regards,
Ken

Um.....what? You can't edit levels like its a PC game.

You can use a PS Eye to make stickers of whatever you want. This is also used for getting things painted of a certain color (people also have these stickers as gifts in there levels if you don't have a PS eye.

You can't rotate something on the horizontal axes since this game is on a 2D plane. However there's a glitch to automatically make a sackperson move Search "Odd gravity" in-game, or maybe make a conveyor belt. They're also tutorials on how to make both here.

You must not own the game or have tried create mode!!

1. The editor in the game.
2. R1 and R2 in the editor.
3. I have Bryce as well... but no way to import items.
4. Nope..
5. You can't.
6. The in game editor provides for a grid that is handy for some things like this.

If by question number four you mean that you want to plan your level out, then you could try signing up to Sackpad which is a flash program in development which is a quick and easy way to decide upon where everything is going in your level so you don't run into problems. It's nearing beta stage now so you might get a chance to try it soon.

Thanks very much for your input folks.

Yes I am new to this product and yet see much opportunity in engaging in level editing. I have many 3D tools and graphics tools but I'll have to constrain my creativity to the constraints set by the makers of this wonderful product. I shall study this site with due diligence and hopefully submit some work in the near future.

Respectfully, Ken

Hi JKthree,

Thanks for your suggestion! What is a PS eye and how may I acquire it?

Hello there, MAX13!

My best advice? Buy the game (if you haven't already), play it, enjoy yourself, and then after that, start experimenting in Create Mode, where you can build some wonderful things.

After that, I can only say that I'd be really surprised if you're disappointed.

PS - The PSEye is a little add-on for the PS3. It connects via one of the USB inputs, and it acts like a camera, webcam, microphone, and other bits and pieces. They are available at many retail outlets and on online gaming sites.

http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=PS+Eye&oe=UTF-8&cid=16357339131123019385&sa=title#p

They should be found at just about any store that sells electronics, Walmart, Best Buy, Target. Just look where the games are and find where the accesories are, Speaking of which if you aren't comfortable with (or can't use) a credit card to get some DLC (and some are a must for level creators such as Metal Gear Solid) there are PSN store cards found in the accesories section too where you can buy them and redeem them for whatever you want on the Playstation Store.

You can ask on that too (or at least someone will help you on that)

As for on how to work with the level editor on how it works, i think its best that you see for yourself. As you go through the game you'll learn the basics and how everything works, from pictures for the PS Eye to the basic tools for levels from rockets, to switches.

Though you need to go through a good amount of story mode before you can do somethings like the level editor isn't accesible till after the 1st world. So it might be best to play through at least half of story mode before entering the level editor for the 1st time.

The only thing the tutorials doesn't teach you in game are how to make complex switches such as AND switches and other things like slapping and things that were added in patch updates. Well there's various levels that teach you as well as tutorials, here.

Well thats all i can think of. Just ask away if there's something else. Someone will help you.

Apart from what everyone else has said, I suggest playing around with it. The tutorials are somewhat compulsory, anyway.

Oh, and if you need help with complex switchwork such as OR switches or counters, go check out the Logic Pack. Also, I HIGHLY doubt you'll be constrained that much; the game levels are made with the same engine as the one we are given in Create Mode, except we get a thermometer and they don't, I think.

Actually according to our friends that visited with them just last month at the game conference, they use the same editor we do. Unless of course I misread something!
