Terranigma level
Archive: 7 posts
I'm thinking of making an extensive level based on one of my favorite games, Terranigma. The story will start off in the "underworld", with Sackboy leaving his village on a quest to revive the world by defeating the guardians of five towers (which will subsequently each make a piece of the "overworld" appear above you). Sackboy will then venture to the barren overworld to revive all forms of life through different quests (plants, birds, animals, humans). He will then have to face off against the final boss in an epic battle to decide the fate of the newly revived world. I "think" I'll be able to fit everything I want within the bounds of the thermometer, the major problem will come in the form of planning the whole level and mechanics out in detail beforehand. If necessary, I may have to split the level into two parts. Though I would prefer to keep it in a single level as the whole "reviving the world" mechanic is my main drive for making this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zY21TQk87yE | 2009-12-09 14:44:00 Author: Gilgamesh Posts: 2536 |
So that's what Enix did before they merged with Square! Watching the world become more alive after each accomplishment sounds very cool. I hope you can fit it in one level. Would you consider switching to PS3 if it doesn't fit? | 2009-12-09 15:12:00 Author: Rogar Posts: 2284 |
Actually it was Quintet who made the game (they also made ActRaiser, Soul Blazer and Illusion of Gaia), Enix was the publisher. I might consider doing this for PS3, but I already have enough ongoing crazy PS3 projects for the moment. I also somehow get the feeling that the PSP thermometer is more forgiving than the PS3 one at parts. Who knows, if it turns out good enough I might port it over to the PS3 after the PSP version is done. | 2009-12-09 15:25:00 Author: Gilgamesh Posts: 2536 |
Sounds interesting to me. I'm not familiar with the game, but the story sounds great. I'm interested to play this when you get it in beta and/or published. | 2009-12-09 19:53:00 Author: Taffey Posts: 3187 |
Cool, I will play it when you publish it! BTW, I think our world is pretty dead too, so do you have any idea about how to revive it? | 2009-12-10 15:51:00 Author: moonwire Posts: 1627 |

Haha, our world is very much alive if you take the time to look at what nature has to offer. Humans are too self-important and disconnected from nature nowadays, and don't realize the kinds of interesting and amazing things you can find everywhere. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SyBO10VhVmc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZZWtjrOiWg | 2009-12-10 16:00:00 Author: Gilgamesh Posts: 2536 |
