Brain Bug in latest update

Archive: 7 posts

Well, not really a bug, but a change that makes bugs in existing levels.

Apparently, brains in complex objects must now be on the plane of the object it is on in order for it to work. While I'm not too sure that is indeed the case (I did not experience this bug, it was actually Takelow in one of the levels of LBPC: The Game that pretty much makes it impassable at one point). He hasn't made any changes in 3 months, and it was fine before the update, so I just thought I'd let you know that the latest update changed how brains work on complex objects, thus making levels in which this existed ineffective. At least that's what Takelow believes, and we'll have to take his word for it, but I played it and he didn't update it in 3 months and this whole thing didn't work.

So yes. The way brains function in complex objects has changed. unless it's some other game altering bug... either way, Takelow still has to completely rework a complex piece of machinery, thanks to this bug (whatever it is, seems like his guess may be right... anyone wanna check? :kz.

So what do you mean? What is "the plane of an object"? I don't get it.

Brain in back thick layer + glue to middle thick layer = bad?

Am I close?

If that's it, then I doubt highly that's exactly what the problem is. I'm guessing the object has had something else go awry.

You are, comphermc.
I don't know if this is a general issue, or if it is an isolate strange behavior.
Nevertheless, i had such emitted objects in a level and since the last update, they don't work anymore.
Basically, for some reasons, i had a 3 full layer block of matter with a wheel under and a brain above. The brain and the wheel were on two different layers, but the object was moving correctly as soon as emitted. Since the update, the wheel is not working anymore...Arghhh

I assume you have tried rebuilding from scratch? Just to test there isn't some random corruption in the captured object.2009-12-09 18:28:00

I've had some strange issues with this kind of thing since the original release of LBP... I had a post a LONG time ago (about a year) where I had a creature working, and then it stopped. Not sure whether its this update or something that can go wrong sometimes when the brain is on a different layer. Most of my issues seemed to happen when I had a front thin layer, but the brain was on a thick layer behind it.2009-12-09 20:02:00
