A New Save Bug? Or?

Archive: 8 posts

Okay, I am having yet another LBP problem, and this one is new to me.

Well I recently finished getting the multiplayer story items in a level yesterday, then when I left the game it reset my PS3, and when this happened I knew it didn't save because it only resets your PS3 and requires you to press PS button on controller if the game didn't save.

So then today I get on and sure enough it showed that none of the multiplayer items from that story level were obtained. So instead of 100% it was back to 88% with the items gone from my pop-it. So today I redid the level with a party, and after that the last level and finally earned the Booty Master trophy. But then I just quit the game and strangely it reset the PS3 again, and so I went back on to check and the very last level we did I don't have the items for now, but the one we did before in same game session was there. But the Booty Master trophy is still saved.

This doesn't make sense for two reasons.

1. I thought that official MM items like story items and DLC count as a different part of memory from the limited profile space for non-MM things.

2. And even if it was a memory related thing, why would it save the items it didn't save the day before (and no I didn't clear any space)? It saved what wouldn't save on yesterday's game session, but not the 2nd level of today's game session.

This is a huge problem. Even the costume I was wearing before we played the most recent level is what I was wearing when I started the game after it reset. But when I quit the game that's not what I was wearing.

Is this new? I've never heard of this one before.

I've had both of these problems numerous times. Back in March when I decided to go on and get booty master, I had an online friend help me get what I was missing. Shut down the PS3, came back to it the next day and the items I got with my friend was gone! Poof!

We tried it again a total of 3 times before I suggested in him disconnecting from the game before I finished the level on my own. After that, my items stayed put. You might wanna try that the next time and see if that works.

As for the costume problem you mentioned, I'm still not quite sure what causes that. For some reason, my PS3 used to stay on the "Please wait" screen after quitting a game for a long while before finally beeping numerous times at me then restarting. I haven't had the problem since Leerdammer, thankfully.

Thanks! I'll have to try that and see if it works for me.

I didn't have this problem until after Leerdammer, lol.

Hmmm, it might be because you either turned off the PS3 while the game was saving, or turned it off before the game saved. This has happened to me before, much to my stress since it was Boom Town items and it took me hours to realize thats what I needed to get 2009-12-08 03:52:00

Also, do you quit the game by the XMB or holding the PS button so the controller menu appears?

LBP is bugged since forever if you quit by holding the PS button. If you are online, it will not quit properly and might not save either. The PS3 will always reset.

If you quit by the XMB (tap PS button instead of hold + chose "quit game") the game shall quit properly and you will not have save problems.

This is a save bug? Oh! I thought it was me goofing up my PS3. Also, sometimes when it resets after quitting LBP, my brother will go on shortly after and the PS3 will load, the TV can find it but no picture will appear (this is solved by turning it off and leaving it for a bit)

EDIT: Thought above post was first one D:

Really? I thought it was the other way around. I used to quit by tapping PS, had some save problems, then switched over to holding PS, and haven't had a problem since.

No, the game wasn't saving. I didn't do anything wrong on my part. I've had LBP forever, so why would it all of a sudden do this 2 days in a row? I never had this problem before.

And as I said I didn't turn off the PS3. I quit the game. And even when I do turn off the PS3 I don't do it while the HDD access indicator is flashing.

No, I always quit a game the most common way you're expected to quit a game. I press the PS button then choose quit game on the XMB.

I didn't do anything wrong on my part.
