My idea is for ropes and chains that instead of simply rotating around on whatever it is attached to, it can actually coil around it. This would be useful for making things like cranks and pulleys. It would of course have to be seperate from the normal ropes and chains and could also be made of other things like elastic, or maybe even a rod that bends with enough pressure. Please let me know if you think this is a good idea or not.

alot of work would need to go into this and i dont know if it would warrent it as with the rods/strings etc we have now they can do the main job. Nice idea though

This can be done in a (not as pretty) way.. Attach a normal rope to something, and add the normal strings around the thing which is should wrap around. Doesn't look as good, but gets the job done (****it I love saying that..).
