Stickers "glitching"

Archive: 8 posts

I just finished my level, and the last thing I did was placing mayorloads of stickers around the level to spice things up a little.
I did not count, but I think I was above 200 stickers.

I finished everything, wanted to publish it but played it one more time.
All of a sudden the cut-scenes had glitched stickers, partially showing the original material that was beneath it.
After deleting a few objects that had a lot of stickers on them, the problem was solved.

does anybody know more about this?

I think its because there are too many stickers in the level. I made an object with lots of stickers and that happened. Try using fewer stickers.2009-12-06 03:03:00

This bug happened with a patch in late spring or beginning of the summer.

When there's a certain number of stickers in your surrounding they start to flicker and you can see the material behind the sticker for a fraction of second. I noticed this by checking my 2 players level "Dig It!".

When I created it last year, everything was perfect until that patch in late spring or beginning of summer 2009.

So yeah, just another bug on the enormous pile.

the strange thing was, it happened the worst in a cutscene where only one sticker was shown as a black background, and 5 stickers on top of it for some deco.2009-12-06 03:37:00

Is the sticker really huge? There's also some flickering if the sticker is huge enough.

The flickering RangerZero mentions happened in the "Yarg" update. His Dig It and my Splat Invaders suffered from this - it's when a log of material has different stickers in a specific vacinity.

The edge glitching has happened ever since LBP's release - I had it in my first level.

Basically, when the engine needs to process a ton of stickers/decorations it ends up losing the edges of some stickers. It doesn't seem to be large stickers in themselves, but a combination of large stickers and number of stickers - I'm not sure of the exacts - probably hits a rendering limit.

If it starts happening, try the following:

Try making the placement of the stickers more efficient. Don't make them ANY bigger than they need to be.

Look for decorations and stickers that you may not need and remove them.

If you're using multiple stickers on a single piece of material, see if it's possible to create the same effect on a single piece of material and take a picture, then replace the multiple stickers with a single sticker.
