Fully working skateboard

Archive: 6 posts

Recently i have been working on somthing, somthing big, somthing that has never been done before on LBP!! I have kept it secret for ages in the worry someone would steal my idea.
But i realised how nice and friendly you guys here at LBPC are so i'm confident you won't.

Anyway the basic idea was made because i was getting really annoyed with all theese skate ramp levels and wanted to make a change to skate levels and improve them thus my idea was born...

In my level instead of going down ramps you stand on the skateboard and it automaticlly goes along, You can also press R1 on the skate board to jump. after many attempts and fails it finaly worked... and then it broke again lol but i'm pretty sure i can fix it soon. I'm not going to tell you how it works it's harder than you would think and i don't want anyone copying me... But i may post some pictures up here soon...

Please comment on what you think and any suggestions to help me or maybe if you don't fully understand what i mean. (Sorry this was so long)

wow keep posted on this id like to know more and see some pictures this sounds pretty impressive and how do you keep on the skateboard in mid air if you have to grab to jump?
because as we all know enertia keeps the board on your feet until the highest point but you have to grab when your comming down? so how would you combat that problem

Well this has been done before in LBP, probably by loads of people. (Perhaps not of the best quality, tho) I had a pretty good one myelf, but my save-game thingy crashed so I gave it up.

I'd like to hear about how it functions etc. so come with updates soon!

Ok, i'm guessing that your skateboard jump function is either a piston with a piece of wood connected to it, pushing quickly down making the skateboard jump or some rockets giving the skateboard a boost upwards.
This is just guessing, but something I would really like to see, is a skateboard where you could actually grab the skateboard and then use the jump button to jump, but I think this would be pretty hard to make...

I'm very intrested how this looks, I hope your going to upload some pics so it will be easier to understand how it works. There have also been some made skateboards that you can control by your self ( but they were really bad done).

Well...assuming sackboy can get out of the range of a sensitive prox switch by jumping even when grabbing something, all you would need is an and gate.

There have been many diffrent versions starting originally with a dark matter block with a piston to another block (Think it was rubber). And another piston coming down from the possibly rubber block to the skateboard. I then thought of an obvious idea to change the piston on the skateboard to a winch which makes it a LOT more flexible.

Thanks to your feedback i will try and get some pictures of it ASAP.

Oh and there's no rockets involved either.
