Mario Brothers 3 music

Archive: 8 posts

Hey guys, I am making Mario brothers 3 from world 1-1 to Bowser. I might need some help with some of the finer stuff and finishing touches, but for right now, I just need the music. I have World 1-1 made right now and it takes up 2 or 3 bars of thermo, so I have room for a music player. I would like something that doesn't take up a lot of space and plays on a loop.
Would like also if you could join me online create so I can learn to.

Can anyone help?

Awesome, thank you. I used up a couple more bars of thermo, but I'm not using that much already.2009-12-05 05:43:00

Hey thefrozenpenquin , I can understand you are making a custom level music? Therefore I ask you if you implemented a way for the music to follow you during the level, such as player tracking devices.
I say this because I too am making a level with custom musics.

If you didn't implement, I could suggest you looking for LadyWulf (Or was it Lady_Wulf? I dont't remember.)'s level. I saw a nice tracking device there, that didn't seem to break. When I used one that uses pistons to make the tracking device move both horizontally and vertically it would break from time to time.

The only thing I dislike about custom in game music is the lag that mess up the music's timing when playing the level with 2 or more people.

I'm thinking of attaching the music to a portable player and putting it on the player tracker from the Logic Pack due to it's durability.
I was also playing around with the idea of having multiple speakers for the same note in intervals so when the key passes the switch it activates all the speakers attached. Then the music player could stay stationary and you could hear the music throughout the level.

Don't worry, I'll help with that part. I've been putting music in levels since the game released. XD

I do agree though, the logic pack has the best tracker I've ever seen.

And Alvaro is correct- custom music usually sounds bad in levels because of the lag. I personally would never use custom music in any of my "real" levels, and it usually isn't worth the hassle. But I'm willing to do it for anyone that wants it.

You can't go wrong with Mario though
I haven't had any custom music on a level but the way Mario's music plays, a little lag shouldn't be bad.

On an off note, Rajah have you ever done the Simpson's theme? It's killer on a piano, my friend plays by ear and he stumbled on that one. Ever tried the Looney Tunes theme?

Hey, I remembered another thing you could consider while doing your custom music : Wether you will use streamed, "long lasting" sound notes or not, because some musics, when they play their sounds, they don't go just with a simple short "la", they go "laaaaaaaaaaaa"... I see music levels with streamed notes, which seems to happen when you place lots of sound notes one after the other, so that they are played fast . Too bad it might be heavy on thermo >_>... But again, when you want the music to be top notch quality, you will want to detail it to the maximum. D:2009-12-12 06:15:00
