Sony To Work On Fixing Create Mode Before Releasing DLC

Archive: 40 posts

A recent post from Sam on the LittleBigWorkshop says that Sony will work on fixing Create Mode, before releasing DLC. (Including the Spacesuit/Buggy.)

There is no scheduled release date for additional content on PSP just yet. The development team are focussing on issues relating to the stability of Create mode before looking at preparing extra content to go on the store.

To me, I'm pretty happy with this.

I'm sure most people will be. Sony's first priority is fixing the bugs.

Great news, hope that goes quickly, I was gonna build a level on here, but I've decided to help my friend out with a ps3 one instead. Hopefully when that's done, the psp's create will be easier to work with 2009-12-03 21:12:00

Thanks for bringing us this - I'm very glad about this.
Mainly because it's so broken at the moment...DLC would just be a little useless

A step in the right direction. This is good news.

Maybe I'll finally be able to give up my PSP bug-solving experiments.

Sounds good.... just a bit ago I had a section of my level disappear when going into play mode from create (had it backed up so I didn't lose anything)... but the weirdness really worries me and I think they should release fixes as fast as possible to save the game from getting a permanent bad reputation.2009-12-03 21:31:00

Agreed. I just don't get why things just go randomly wrong in create mode. I lost hours of work because of problems like objects turning dynamic, undo working 20% of the time, things you save don't save, things changing places, mechanics that were working perfectly suddenly breaking and it taking three times longer to set it back up then the initial set up, sensors that were fine stop working or do the wrong thing, emitters that were set up perfectly going haywire and have to be reconfigured, three-way switches turning into two-way switches, and on and on and on... I had to recreate so many things, more than once, since they just kept randomly breaking later on. I don't get it.

I don't even go out of Pause mode anymore, since everytime I do so it causes problems. I have set up entrance points everywhere just to safely test things.

I hope they fix the problems soon. A lot of people are having problems with the game itself, not just the create mode. Some can't even get past the first loading screen. The music in my game turns off whenever I pause the game (and remains off for the entirety of the level). This includes community levels and story levels. I'm really starting to wish I had a PS3..

Yeah, my logic was all over the place when working on Armorboy portable. Granted it's all solved now, I think I'd rather wait for it to stabilize before going forward with the level.2009-12-04 01:32:00

You can't edit objects, whether your own, story level ones, or community ones. You also can't capture already captured objects.

I understand the community and story level objects, but it's really limiting not being able to edit your own. I mean, why take out the ability to copy objects AND the ability to edit captured objects?

Man this is really starting to tick me off.... i paid 40$ for a beta basically. Its just so dumb. they really need to step it up. if this was MM they would have been on top of all these problems wayyyy before it even released. cambridge officially sucks. i wish MM would have done this instead. they should have use the same team that made lbp ps3 instead of some cheap spinoff that made a spinoff game to go with their bootleg team. sorry bout the rant jus makes me angry. first we had to wait 2 days which turned into a week for the U.S. then a update. and now create mode blows so hard....2009-12-04 18:17:00

I was really angry at Sony and SC when it initially released. The UMD version of the game glitch riddled, the PSN version delayed (ironic, since this game was a driving force of the digital only PSP Go), Sony lying about why it was delayed (they first claimed it was because of problems with PSN then later came out with something being wrong with the game), and then the PSN version coming out a week later with the same glitches the UMD version had. I've mellowed out a bit tho =P

I'm still wondering what, if anything, they "fixed" during the delay of the US PSN version of the game. It was apparently delayed due to problems that were never revealed, and then released with none of the problems of the UMD version fixed and the patch not even included. WHY it was delayed I still wonder..

Yesterday when I went to my news, it said welcome to the first LBP beta.

It didn't say that before...

They changed the news, to say that it's now all of a sudden a beta, and not a finished product?

I for one am very dissapointed. no in lbp psp, but in sony cambridge. They need to be more thourough and professional. Just because they KNOW we are going to buy a game doesnt mean they should release it unfinished and crippled. They are acting like soulless money hogs, and e3ven though sony IS a soulless money hog, its not this bad. They need to step it up and quick!2009-12-07 07:47:00

Sometimes Mr. Suit says to you, "We are releasing the game on this date. Make it happen." You can quit and let them find some other poor schmuck to do the work (which happens fairly often), or keep your job and do the best you can. Sony Cambridge chose curtain #2 and did an admirable job on this game - a heroic effort to be honest - and I'm sure they had little to no say on the deadlines.

Could the game have been better before it was released? Yes. Could the game have been better and still been released when it was? I'm not so sure.

I understand your feelings, but Little Big Planet was an obvious great success and a highly anticipated title for the PSP. Heck, it was the driving force of the PSP Go, it being advertised along side the system. Unless those suits lost their minds for a day and told Sony Cambridge to "get this game done now!!," no company would risk their profit with a rushed product that is prospected to sell incredibly well. I honestly believe they simply dropped the ball, and I hope they're brave enough to admit that. Even though the game is great and has incredible potential, and even though Sony Cambridge put a lot of time and effort into making the game, it isn't and shouldn't be acceptable to release an unfinished, unpolished product. When content mentioned in the instructional manual isn't even in the game, you know something is wrong. They aren't like the people on this forum, fans of the game who put time and effort to give enjoyment to others; they're paid professionals doing their job putting time and effort to give enjoyment to others for a manufacturer's suggested retail price. Glitches are unavoidable with a such a massive game, some slipping through even with extensive playtesting. But there is no excuse for the amount and type of bugs, most obvious, in this game. We did pay for this game, after all. I can guarantee many people have took their game back and those who bought the nonreturnable digital version are jaded and will never have faith in the company again. Heck, I was one of those angry people. The all digital system's main draw having it's digital version delayed without warning or explanation, finally being released with the 2.01 patch not even included, while both the UMD owners and digital owners have to deal with freezing, levels breaking apart, and corrupted saves.. it was nearly enough to make me and others boycott the game, and I bet you some have. I gave them a chance, however. But this really is not a good image for Sony Cambridge, and I am not going to feel sorry for them.

I agree and disagree with you Taffey, I wouldn't go so far as to say they're heroic in their endeavor to get the game out on time like it was yet I do think slapping a 40 dollar tag on the game and saying, "Hey buy this it's epic oh and we've got a creator's edition only available to us blokes over the channel but that's broke too..." is devastating to a company..

I'm 100% sure this incident will make/break Sony Cambridge if these bugs are not resolved soon. MANY MANY companies have gotten bad wraps from taking an exclusive title and delaying it to hell only to lose their fans.. hell if it wasn't for World of Warcraft, Blizzard would be bankrupt due to how long their taking on SC2 and D3... not to mention the terrible fan service by breaking the game up into 3 games all 3 of which having a $40+ pricetag on it...

Fanservice is a must in the gaming industry as the internet is such a HUGE tool to convey thoughts and ideas... it shows that we really are in the modern age when we can say, "Hey this game sucks, it feels like a $40 beta.. what's the deal?" and have thousands of others agree/voice their opinions as well..

It doesn't take many people to cause Sony Cambridge to sink I for one am satisfied with the story mode and the create mode is giving me a glimpse into what could be, then again I'm disappointed as to making me pay for a broken game with the promise of a fully functional one...

SCEE needs to step it up big time to do this and do it well... MM should have been the true designers of this psp port and only time will tell if it's a success or a flop...

Hmm, I hope this doesn't mean the Creator Edition DLC won't be available today... but I guess it's for the good of the rest of the community.

Still busy with story mode anyway.

3 words. Sony is Skynet. They know what we want because we have told them. they know how to fix it. THey probably will, because they are good at this. Its a HUGE company remember, and they are trying to "make a mario out of sackboy" so if they want to achieve that, i have full faith they will make LBP PSP a great 5 star title by next year, next month maybe.2009-12-09 02:06:00

You mean prostitute sackboy out for everything from soccer, baseball and olympics up to, typing games and fighting games?

@Sackrates.

What is wrong with Super Smash Bros?

Also last time I checked, Sackboy was already in Rag Doll Kong Fu and that golfing game.

Nada, I loved SSB tho you have to admit, Mario and Sonic have become bigger harlots then Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie..

and what games? never seen those..

Besides why would Sackboy/girl need to be in another game, you can already make every other type of game with him...

Sony is trying to find a mascot that defines their system but that is why most people fell in love with them, they didn't have or even need a mascot instead of pimping out the same character in every version of the same game you just finished playing... can anyone say, "New Super Mario Bro's Wii" RIGHT after Super Mario Bro's for the ds...

Icons had a place back in the day, kiddie systems... don't get me wrong I still love some of the mario games and even sonic games but there's a reason it's called evolution... oh well.. Now a days you're not cool unless you're a tool on the "Man's" toolbelt so... shiny up boys be prepared to get worked hard for your money...

I read trough most of the problems/complaints about LBP psp, and still payed 2 buy the games and wold like 2 say that create mode sucks and that MM need 2 be kicking Studio Cambridge but into gear and update this game 2 the acceptable level. I love LBP but this just is not worth $40 at the point it is now after i blow trough the story mode i feel like that will be then of it for the feeling of must play.i do have 2 give credit 2 Studio Cambridge for intruding moves like kicking and waving but with out multiplayer who are you doing the moves 2?2009-12-21 01:49:00

oh lord... for the sake of my sanity spend the other half of the second you saved on doing "2" and type out "to"...

Other then that butchery of the English language..... I agree and disagree, these are two different companies and I think they did a decent job on the story mode but again the create mode needs to step it up since that is all this game is about...

OK I'm sorry, I understand that I lack spelling and grammar skills. I though story mode is fun but I still have been finding glitches. I have been getting stuck on the edge of a platform in midair and i got stuck between something an egg. when you are working on acing level getting stuck. I do like story on the other hand create mode I keep getting mad, nothing that you normally do in the ps3 version works such as cut, copy, making to wells the same size and even trying to get a bolt centered on a circle.

hey guys...i found out how ou update!(sony should really make it more clear...)all of you thought the update wasn't ready! when it has been online since november 24!

New PSP Online Update

You?ll be happy to know that our development team at SCEE Cambridge will continue to support LBP (PSP) post launch with ongoing game improvements and upcoming downloadable content. This has already begun with a new update available for download now. This first update will improve the performance of some of the physics and tools in the Create mode.
Updates are new to the PSP, so we thought some step-by-step instructions would be helpful:

?Be sure to have online access on your PSP
?On the XMB, highlight the LBP game icon
?Open up the menu with and select ?Update?
?Continue with the on-screen instructions

----

that was from a news update on www.littlebigplanet.com ...again, sony should've made that clearer :/

It is not "BAD" it is just, incomplete. If you get it on friday, and you are the casual gamer, (Oh play 2-4 hours a day) it will probably take you quite a while to finish story mode. (Hopefully) By that time, they should have fixed some of the bugs and improved some things. It took me exactly 6 days to beat it and I played a TON. I poured 20+ hours into story mode alone. You will not get bored. Only P.O. at acing levels.

*JOKING*
Now I know why K-Mart sold LBP PSP for 10 bucks. Beta!

Anyone try to see if the issues we posted were fixed with this update? also Sony Cambridge has to be on the chopping block by Sony's main office after this fiasco but then again Sony has an extensive track record for failing so I wouldn't be surprised if they were being congratulated right now for failing hard...2009-12-22 11:02:00
