*is not american*

God I love new year...setting off fireworks in the road and almost blowing someone's car up...

Anyone else remember how the guy on telly described the fireworks in London as 'a pizza of explosions'?

I'm not insane. He really said it. Someone mentions it here:

Lol we weren't trying to blow up the car. We weren't really expecting anyone to be driving around London at midnight on New Year 2009-12-03 19:28:00

Yeah... I would say that is a true statement at times. A buddy of mine usually has quite a bunch and we fire them off after the clock hits midnight.

Some years it has been kinda cold out, but you get over it!

Well, as a family we don't do the fireworks thing. Some of my neighbors do but that's more a 4th of July thing around here. New Years in WI generally means drinking a lot, going to parties or a bar, eating lots of great food and spending the night with friends or family.2009-12-03 19:58:00

I wish we had more blowing up of Random objects where I live in Washington state, but I live in the city.

Some kids play with fireworks year round (which they aren't supposed to), but most of our fireworks are on the Fourth of July. There are big firework displays at the Space Needle and someplace in New York, but I don't know if the average person not living in a city does much with fireworks on New Years.

We need a holiday where we just blow stuff up, or watch bomb squads blow stuff up because if everyone were allowed to just blow a bunch of stuff up there would be a lot of problems. We would all go to some place and give them stuff we want to see blown up. It could be called Mythbusters day.

I love the New Year's mayhem. I like fireworks and setting them off. But from a 2 years ago accident, I decided to pop them AWAY from my house, and lawn... and my neighbor's dog.

Those fireworks that go in the sky didn't go in the sky as planned. As soon me and my baby cousin got out of the way (I was helping him light the thing), he accidentally knocked over the tube, and it was aiming at us! We moved out of the way in time (and yes, I ran, so fast that I think the adrenaline made me shoot **** out of my ***), but sadly, my house got hit, the lawn caught a miniature fire (the size of a large trampoline) and my neighbor's dog got a minor burn (which we never told the owner about). So ya, hectic.

*A knock on the door*
Me: Yes?
Neighbor: I just read on LBPCentral that you shot my dog! You never told me! WTF!?

I think there's fireworks all around the world.

But..
if you really want something special, go to Aruba on New Years Eve. It's an actual custom for them to shoot up the fireworks on New Years Eve, and the whole island is alight and shaking. It's really amazing.

There is this one place in Japan I think were the coming of age ceremony consists of you holding a giant home-made fire cracker (pointing down) that is spewing fire all over the place. You're not the only one doing this either, other boys coming to age are standing around you doing the same thing. The whole thing is a mess of fire and minor burns are not rare.2009-12-03 23:17:00

Yes, we do fireworks, though where i live they're illegal lol. Its because it gets rather dry in southern california (its a friggin desert after all ;p) and fireworks have a nasty tendency of lighting everything (and i mean everything) on fire.

But people do em anyway ;p

Fireworks are outlawed where I live (NYC) but people still set them off all throughout the year if they think they can get away with it.

I guess our big thing is the ball dropping.
