I think they've actually fixed a major bug with sticker switches - the delete using triangle thing is no longer an issue. Can't remember exactly what the issue was, but it was really annoying some people here a while back and it's fixed now.2009-12-03 01:22:00

I remember that glitch, it caused problems with directional switches when you would delete the sticker activating the sticker switch.

Ooh I didn't know that was fixed. I had trouble with a sticker switch removal creation I wanted to use because it didn't work when removing the sticker with triangle. I'll have to check that out and see if it works now. I'll let you know. Thanks for the info rtm.

@applepod I haven't used it that much yet to have been annoyed by it but I know what you mean. I think it's good in some ways but could be a nuisance in others. I think it would have been better to have the option to use either the new or old sticker switch as you wanted depending on the situation.

I hate it because i made a vault and it used a sticker to emit a button and that basically ruined it. :/2009-12-03 01:46:00

Yes I think the new look of those switches is a bit annoying for nothing. I mean, they already are noticeable and now they are litterally flashing...

For the new sticker behavior I think it's ok though.

not unless they're invisible

Yes of course if you put them invisible they are invisible but I like to tell the player "stick something there" sometimes. But I might not want to tell the player " HEYYY' LOOKEE HEEEEEREE!! THERE A STICKER SWITCH TO STICK STICKERS. DON'T YOU SEE IT? LOOOOOK"

No probs, I tried it pretty much striaght away because I'd noticed it fixed in the beta - I've been hunting around for the little things fromt he beta that made it accross.

Absolutely. I mean, they are changing the visuals of people's levels for them, plus changing certain gamplay mechanics - this needed to be a tweak option.

Perhaps you could make the sticker switch invisible, then create a object on the thin layer that is shaped and stickered like to look like the sticker switch that doesn't flash. But unfortunately, that doesn't work for thin layer objects...

I don't think it's that big a deal. You could already see which sticker to use because it appears at the top of your popit, now you are just saved the effort of actually placing it. That, and it looks a bit flashier.2009-12-03 12:24:00

I'm okay with the change, and I'm glad the triangle (deletion) issue was resolved (which wouldn't register well with the switch when you inverted its behavior)... I don't like this new strange noise played before the sticker is actually placed, and I definitely think noises should be customizable (similar to magic mouths), and the whole flashing thing optional... (it could subtly change gameplay on someones primarily 'sticker switch' themed level).

I would also have liked to see sticker switches icons visible, but not take up space. I dislike waving a sticker around the range and getting 'caught' (cannot place here) on the icon... maybe the icon could be displayed like a sticker (have tried this before, but never seems to look right)

NM my last post... I'm currently finding new uses for the change, I just need to get creative with invisiblity (this green 'alertion' when the sticker is waived over the spot could prove useful)

btw rtm223, is the sticker delete bug with inverted on/off on the switch fixed for sure, cause I couldn't get it to dissolve a block earlier when I tried to lift or delete the sticker on play mode?!?

You bet I would come up with workarounds

I'm quite the opposite to be honest...I absolutely love the new alterations. I have no idea why, it's just a sticker switch! 2009-12-03 21:14:00

Hmmmm, I didn't do much testing, TBH, just checking that you couldn't use triangle to mess it up and I only tried in create mode with directional switches. I do know if you don't have the sticker in your popit then it won't register you removing it, but I doubt that is the case here...

Wait, last night I tried removing a sticker using triangle, and the switch didn't respond. Is this fixed for you guys, or are you all spewing lies!? This is what I did:

Placed a block of DM and attach it to a block of cardboard via a piston.
Attached a sticker switch to the block of DM, set it to directional, and wired it to the piston.
Stickered the block of DM, causing the piston to extend.
Picked up the sticker using the sticker edit tool, which cause the piston to retract.
Re-placed the sticker, causing it to extend again.
Deleted the sticker using triangle.
Nothing happened. It did not register. The piston remained extended even though it had no sticker.

This what we're calling fixed, huh...?

It's definitely not fixed.

I tried the inverted sticker switch gadget I made ages ago that works ok if you use X to remove the stickers but doesn't work if you use triangle and it's still exactly the same. I can still remove stickers with the triangle and it still doesn't work.

I like that when you put it on the right thing it turns green or red and makes a noise. Makes the game look a lot nicer too.2009-12-05 12:02:00
