My favorite book of all time is probably I Am Legend. It pretty much invented the zombie genre of media, but did so in a very smart, very thoughtful way... and the ending is just epic. ... Don't mention the movie. DO NOT MENTION THE MOVIE. I have no intention of ever seeing it or pretending it existed. Come on! He's a legend for saving humanity? YOU FRICKIN RUINED THE FRICKIN MEANING OF THE BOOK ![]() ... sorry, the mere thought of that movie makes me want to... ![]() ... right now I'm reading Catch-22. Very... interesting book (actually funny though- it has a very insane sense of humor ![]() | 2009-12-02 21:42:00 Author: RockSauron ![]() Posts: 10882 |
Haven't properly read a book in over 5 years. I think being forced to read every night for an hour when I was young put me off. :/ I did find an old book voucher with no expiry date, so I might buy Slash's autobiography - that's something I'd definitely enjoy! | 2009-12-02 21:43:00 Author: Leather-Monkey ![]() Posts: 2266 |

Harry Potter series is very good. Unfortunate events series is great also, the last book "The End" is by far the best and has a very mind boggling ending. Oh to SNRM I reccomend Walter Paytons Biography (or auto-biography I can't remember.) | 2009-12-03 00:51:00 Author: Mod5.0 ![]() Posts: 1576 |

Last two books I read were Atlas Shrugged and the Fountainhead. They're not exactly light reads but some bits of them are interesting. Rand has a tendancy in her books to lump her political messages into giant chunks and indeed in Atlas Shrugged a whole chapeter is of a character speaking about the world from start to finish with not even description of voice to end the speech marks. Lighter fiction, I think The Book Thief was very good; if you've read the boy in striped pyjamas then imagine that but done to a much higher standard. The story is told from the perspective of death and follows a girl and her journey through nazi germany, her family taking in a jew and it also features very emotional moments which makes you really feel attatched to the characters. | 2009-12-03 17:21:00 Author: Shermzor ![]() Posts: 1330 |
Here are some very good books i've read (recommended for adults really): 1) '1984' by George Orwell... A classic read- George Orwell effectively predicted the future in this book! Published in 1949, Orwell predicted what the future would be like in 1984 and tbf many of the concepts he predicted are used in current life! Orwell developed many well-known concepts in this book, such as 'big brother' and 'room 101'. The story itself is about a young man who falls in love in a world where the government restricts relationships. The couple are therefore forced to keep their relationship entirely secret but all goes wrong when CCTV catches them out... 2) 'War of the Worlds' by H.G.Wells... Forget the hollywood film, the real deal is with this book. The true story occurs in the early 20th century when vehicles such as cars are few and hard to come by. Consequently the alien 'machines' contrast greatly to the human life depicted in the book- they therefore pose as a much greater threat. Wells develops the story well and when it seems all is lost- mother nature comes into play... 3) 'One Flew Over A Cuckoo's Nest' by Ken Kesey. The film to this book is very good, but as usual the book develops the characters and storyline much better. 4) 'The Alchemist' by Paulo Coelho. Another great read. A story with plenty of magic and love. All topped, with potentially the best twist i've ever read in a book. Sorry, as u can tell im running out of time. ![]() | 2009-12-03 17:59:00 Author: ladylyn1 ![]() Posts: 836 |
The Lightning Thief. I never read, but we're reading that in English and it's not bad. I'd rather play games or something, reading takes too long. | 2009-12-06 17:57:00 Author: Sackwise ![]() Posts: 305 |
