Train bomb survivals.

Archive: 33 posts

Whats up with all theese lame and cheap train bomb survival levels. not only are most of them broken, Ugly, and identical. They allso seem to be getting up to the first cool page easily.

I mean i just played a train survival level. With no description, The scoreboard rested on Dark matter without any kinds of decorations. The train itself was ugly, The background was nothign but 2 diffrent kind of cheap trees with diffrent lenght looping for eternity. The level was absolutely broken and after a few seconds it bounched me up to the air were i went to an empty area not intended for the players.

This wouldnt be anything special if it werent for the fact that the level had 100 000+ plays. 1000+ hearts. and 4 stars. I mean what the ? It was so horribel that it was funny i must say though. But how could it get so many plays ?

I think its pathetic though. I want to be able to jump to the cool pages and simply expect great innovative viosually beautifull levels that have been buggtested before release. But instead i have to search for the hidden goodies that lay barried over a million train survival level....

There are even worthless levesl on most hearteed and highest rated =(

Well, you must not be looking on the right creators' pages then. Try Cuzfeeshe or Morgana for a slew of quality hearted levels. Then pick the creators of the levels they have hearted and check their hearted levels. If you start at the top, it will increase the odds of finding the good stuff.

i actually find that quite offensive, that you are stereotyping my age group as H4Hers

now if you were to say

ZOMFG H4H RATE 5 STARZZ PLZZZZ" ands so on....... Trophy hunters spamming the game to brag to their friends about how they have 8000000 platinums, >_>
that would offend some trophy collectors but because it only applies to the spammier ones...

An interesting lessen can be learned from the Train Bomb Survival levels (and many of the other junk survival levels out there):

1. Many people like fast, frenetic fun.
2. Many people like quick experiences that give them an adrenaline rush.
3. If it's a pretty quick experience and they have fun, they will play it over and over and therefore push the level up cool pages quickly.

If you manage to bottle this experience in a high-quality level you can get the plays AND other creators' respect. It's the same reason the classic arcade games of the late 70's and 80's were so popular.

A few recent examples:

CompherMC's Brain Chain
SteveBigGun's Pong game
Treas Bubble Caves
Tig-W Wrecking Ball Survival

Maybe build your own highly addicting level that copies the frenetic pace and beat them at their own game?

Yup.. as CCubbage says...

Most of them are being played because they enjoy the excitement and I think they also enjoy a wacky level that they can mindlessly play with friends. Even if it is ugly!!.. Which by the way, that part makes no sense to me.

So think up something great that captures that same excitement and multi player ability with some really great graphics and sounds!

Anything said would offend someone. If he said dogs, guess what? Cats would be offended.

You get it?

We've talked about similar things before - fads, trends, copiers, whatever...

I've had masses of fun on some skateboard-type levels. I've played certain survival levels a dozen times trying to get a better score. I've spent over three hours and a sleepless night trying to actually get in the top ten playing a fiendishly addictive level by Cub (CuzFeeshe).

I've moaned and complained like a big baby at the fact that some Hotel/Train/Bomb Survival levels are rated 4 stars, and Space Race (jwwphotos), Mars Attacks 4 (GruntosUK), Perpetual Distance 2 (KoRnDawwg) - just to name a few - are rated 3 stars. Go figure!

I've played stupendously brilliant levels that have less than 100 plays.

The point is, people will do what they want. As a creator, you have to do what you want, too.

However, you did kind of answer your own question when you commented about how the Cool Levels were full of poor levels...

But instead i have to search for the hidden goodies that lay barried over a million train survival level....

If you haven't got the time or inclination to search out decent levels, what makes you think anyone else will. Therefore, cheap, quick levels rise up quicker to Cool Levels and the cycle begins again.

People can't complain about quality. There is a massive amount of high-quality levels out of the 1.5 million already published. Spend just a few moments searching, and I assure you they are there if people can be bothered to look. But, and it's a big but, if players lazily play what's straight in front of their faces, then no one has any right to complain.

And they give you a crown for LOGIC!

The world has gone mad...

I am actually trying to make a highscore challenge, And trying to do it in a way that people will want to play it over and over again so i will get boasted to cool pages. Maybe i can inpsire players to make innovative levels instead ?2009-12-02 22:41:00

The only train level that I've played that actually was great was Guns&Ran, the rest are garbage. They contain no detail and the authors are too lazy to even add a background. It's sad too because the whole "moving background" is a great concept that I wish more creators would use.2009-12-02 23:26:00

Don't hold your breath. At best you might inspire people to reproduce your original idea over and over again.

But certainly go for it - it's always nice to see quality on cool pages.

Well my idea is to hard to become a new trend. Because it requires at least knolledge about " advanced logics " and all the h4hers don't even know about more than moving pistons with bombNscore emitters lol.2009-12-03 11:36:00

This is like the only trend that will never be. People generally don't like hard stuff, hard games or even hard parts in easy games.
The only prime time the "hardcore" will prevail is when LBP will be something of the past and only some hardcore people will still play or something. Think along the line of those extreme shoot 'em ups. A genre completely dead to the masses, only the hardcores still playing those extremely difficult games.

Yeah that sucks. i think LBP will be alive for a very long time. and when ps4 comes they will make a lbp for ps4. Then the masses will go there and only hardcore players will be left on lbp.. Hmmm.......

To bad. People can't even bother to try making good levels =/

I played three of them, all on the cool pages...

One of them was lame pretty lame, it didn't even give you any score, no emitted bubbles, no brains to destroy, just nothing.

The other one emitted so much bombs that it was almost impossible to survive more than 10 seconds.

The last one had some mechanism to release the vagons, which is kinda pointless, really. When I did that, the train somehow got stuck and started to jump around until I flew to the end of the track into some gas. YAY!

I really hate to say this but I would love to make my own because I know what should be done and what not to do, although I don't feel like copying the cool pages or any other levels.

What will be next? Submarine bomb challenges with a sinking floor and flying trains? Maybe with water...

Thats nothing to my experience of train?bomb survivals.

I played one on the cool pages were the description said the lvl would go into a tiebreaker if you can stay on it long enough. So i enterd the level stood into a wagoon doing nothing for 30 seconds. THEN all of a sudden a big giant flaming boulder suddenly crushes the entire train and i died ( nice tie breaker)

Maybe we could submitt our funny histories of train bomb survivals levels, SO LAME, That they are hillarius !

Well, for good levels, forget the masses. There's ALOT of great levels to play out there and they continually come up. Simply because there ARE good creators that still play the game. Just follow the spotlights right here and you have already 400-ish levels to play. You can also sneak into people's hearted list. Most of time a good creator or good players will have legitimately heart great levels and this can be a gold mine when you're looking for something to play.

Personally I am totally overwhelmed by great levels to play. I can't even keep up with what the members of this very forum are constantly putting out because most of my gaming time is used for my creations.

I'm with ranger here. I'm sorry, but I could probably fill this entire weekend playing back to back great levels. I'd have to do a little bit of hunting and probably play a few duds along the way but if you go looking, even just put in the tiniest bit of effort into looking, then there is plenty. And that's if you devote no time to create mode.

If you just take what ever cool pages spoon feeds you and don't bother to look around, to hunt down the good levels, then you have only yourself to blame.

Out of curiosity, how many of these awful train-bomb levels have you played?

Maybe it has already been mentioned, but you have to keep in mind a great level takes a really long time to make. Those other levels that hold you with such disdain take a few hours at the most. There is also a larger number of creators that aren't that good yet or so very young they are just having fun making whatever they want. Which in turn means the publication ratio for those icky ones that make your head hurt is unfortunately quite a bit higher.

I try to ignore the bad ones and play the gems..
