Capture tool dynamic/static trick

I didn't want to hijack Gilgamesh's thread so I am posting this thread. I'm sorry if this has already been posted somewhere else, but this issue has been bugging me and I am a newbie to the create mode. Here is the issue I was having, and how I got around it. Maybe this is how it is supposed to work, but maybe others can benefit from this as well.

When you create a static object and capturing it with the capture tool after placing it (like a copy) in your level the object would change it's state and fall from where you placed it after you unpaused the level.

Here's the trick. When using the capture tool, make sure you are not paused. Then capture the item, then you can place it and it will stay static.

Now you still can't tweak the captured item, but at least it property doesn't change from static to dynamic.

Interesting find. I haven't suffered from the objects changing from static to dynamic myself (thankfully), but I have seen other instances where a setting made in pause mode doesn't translate correctly.2009-12-02 15:21:00
