Archive: 19 posts

One is made with lamb, the other is made with beef. Which do you guys think it is? Answer before reading the spoiler please
According to wikipedia: Sheperds pie = lamb and Cottage pie = beef. I think the same but my girlfriend thinks different.

Sorry I read the spoiler before I answered but

Tell your girlfriend she is an idiot. Shepherd's pie, shepherd, sheep herder. That's a freakin' lamb pie. Obviously. As for cottage pie, it's beef because it just is. I dunno, I suppose you could make cottage pie with other meats, but shepherd's pie is always lamb.

Fact.

Yup rtm is right! (Although I wouldn't advise calling your girlfriend an idiot unless you want to start calling her your ex-girlfriend )2009-12-02 00:34:00

What? I give good relationship advice. OK, it's true I have been single for well over a year now, but that's no indication of anything....

Surely?

I guess it's one way to test how good your relationship actually is!

Personally, calling her an idiot is about as nice as I get to my girlfriend...(physical abuse will always hold a relationship together).

(That joke is probably a bit edgy for this forum actually, I apologise )

I have corrected the wikipedia article in question to say that shepherd's pie is made with mince beef. 2009-12-08 23:41:00

Thanks to the Food Network, I just found at that I was right the first time. Shepherds Pie is made with beef, unless your making Turkey Shepherds Pie.2009-12-08 23:47:00

Shepherds Pie is made with beef, unless your making Turkey Shepherds Pie. you are capable of using your brain

Seriously, how do sheep herders have anything to do with cows? Or Turkeys? I don't care what sources you find to say otherwise, unless there is an ounce of logic behind the statement, I won't be accepting any other definition for shepherds pie

As a side note, I make an awesome shepherd's pie. With lamb.

Because! Because! Because shepherds wouldn't want to sacrifice any of their sheep.

After a while shepherds can get really attached to their flock. Day after lonely day...

They're a bit funny in yon hills.

Now that's the kinda logic I can get on board with

@Ayneh: I'm not sure this talk of shepherds getting "attached" to their flock is entirely suitable for this site
