Trophy Data Problem (Burnout Paradise)

Archive: 8 posts

Okay, I'll try to keep this as brief as possible, but I'm in desperate need of help. Even if you're not familiar with Burnout Paradise, you might still be familiar with this problem from other game's trophy data.

I have had Burnout Paradise for around half a year now. I have earned many trophies, and have a class B liscense.

But just last night for the first time ever, I played it with an online connection which automatically downloaded the 7 most recent updates.

But what urged me to play it last night again was the fact that in compare trophies and even viewing my trophy data under games section of XMB, it says I have 0% trophies, and therefor it doesn't even show anything at all in compare trophies. This makes no sense.

So after the updates, I play it and I get a simple trophy that I have gotten long before just to test and see if it saves the trophy, and it did. It was the one for driving through an auto repair. I chose to redo a simple one for the test, and then I get the message at the top right saying I earned that trophy and it even shows in XMB.

So when I go to check my achievements, it still shows all of my achievements I achieved months earlier, but it doesn't show them in XMB. So it shows everything still locked, including all the liscenses I already got, even though in game it shows I've gotten them.

The only trophies showing now are the few I got last night.

This is a major problem considering that I've done over half the stuff there is to do in the game.

Does anyone know what the problem is?

Okay, I just Googled it, and I think I found the answer.

Apparently I got all my achievements before the trophy patch was released. Therefor the achievements arent converted to trophies unless you got them after the patch.

This whole time I thought the achievements were your trophies, but the achievements were in game only, until they released the patch which gives you a trophy also.

So I read that I can backup my current save, and then delete it from the PS3 to start a new game. I have to get the trophies again in new game, then I can put my current game back on the PS3, assuming I want to keep my current game, and I'll still have the trophies.

It's upsetting that I have to do all that again. Goes to show Criterion didn't think all this out very well before releasing the game.

Yeah, it happened the same to me, still it's hard to come back to a game when you're forced to do it.
I still need the online trophies for Burnout, so if you like, drop a call.

Actually it's the same for almost all the games that got post release trophy patches, anything you've done in your save won't unlock a trophy but anything stored server side like in warhawk will.

Well...the game came out at the start of last year, and the trophy update was in September if I remember correctly. They made a big deal about needing to start again to earn trophies because there was no way around it.

It ****** me off because I'd spent the last week 100%ing my bike license and then I had to start again :/

Wow, lol.

I'm new to the bikes thing. When I had earned over half the achievements I only had cars, but even though I had internet at the time, it didn't set me up with an EA account or Criterion, whatever it is, until last night.

So even though there was a slip that came with the game saying to go to the store to get free bikes download, it was never available for me until I just played the game last night.

Great, now all I have to do is figure out how to do this backup thing to keep current game while starting a new one to redo trophies.

Does anyone know if I can keep the backup on the PS3? I've never dealt with that.

I've heard 2 different stories from people online. Some say they aren't sure, but you probably need to put backup on a device like a thumb drive or something, while others say you can have the backup on the PS3 (something about difference between game data folder and save data folder), then delete the game you backed up and start a new one.

I think you can create another user and copy the save to them.2009-12-01 21:01:00
