"A Player failed to load your profile"

Archive: 17 posts

What's going on!?!?

Everytime I launch LBP to play, it says "A player failed to load your profile"... That player is ME. I wont even spawn. It just shows my pod, and I won't come out. But when I connect with another profile, he comes out!

Is my profile corrupted?!? How can I fix this!

When did this start happening? It could be the Leerdammer update.2009-12-01 19:37:00

It sounds corrupt.... some profiles that already had some corruption have become unusable after the update.2009-12-01 19:38:00

A friend of mine just messaged me about the same problem. If you have a backup copy just delete your current profile and load the backup.2009-12-01 20:46:00

What kind of internet connection do you have? I remember way back when I used wireless, I had a certain kind of connection that didn't let me connect to multiplayer in certain games - maybe the leerdammer update made it so you need the better connection?

Or maybe it's something corrupt like the others have mentioned. Definitely try backing up and restoring it first.

It's not the multiplayer part. It's my own pod. My sackboy wont even come out in my own pod, but other sackboys can. I can still see all my data and all the stuff I've completed, but I can't do anything cause im not even there!

Oh, BTW, I don't have a back up

Maybe send it in to MM for repair? And hilightnotes, the issue is NAT type, a setting which determines how your network router sends and receives data over the internet.2009-12-02 16:08:00

How do I send it in for repair?

You have to export your profile to a save data file (if you haven't done so already or if you don't have a save data file) then copy it to a USB drive from the XMB. Then copy the "PS3" folder on the drive to a zip, rar, or other archive type with Winzip or Winrar, then attach it to an e-mail going to MM support requesting a corruption fix. Does anyone know what address to send it to?2009-12-02 21:36:00

AbstractSam, did you ever resolve your problem?
After the Leerdammer update, I started receiving the same error.

I tried backing up my save, but I can only do it with the one before the update as I can't go into the game and export saves..

I have not yet resolved the problem. I've sent Media Molecule a email but they haven't respond, so as of now I am using someone else's save.

SOLUTION:
I deleted my profile in "Game Data Utility", and that did the trick. cause i had a backup in "Save Data Utility" it was fine. If you don't have a backup then I reckon you're scuppered.

UPDATE:

I figured this out by myself.
I was annoyed about what happened, and I've spent the last week thinking of ways to get my profile back, and I thought of this.

I was kind of skeptical, but I thought it would work and it did!
Deleting the corrupted file in the new "Game Data Utility" made the game think I had just updated the game because I still had my previous save in the "Save Data Utility".
So, upon start up, it ran me through the 5 step sequence walkthrough of the new stuff in the update.
I immediately backed up my profile, and it has been working flawlessly!

I'm glad it worked.
I'm currently at 99% completion, and I'm counting down the days until the Pirates of the Caribbean DLC comes out.

Okay. This just happened to me, just now, for no reason. I deleted my game data as advised, and I lost absolutely everything since a month ago when I got the update including costumes I made, pod decorations I made, all the progress I made playing through the water levels, just earlier today... and of course, my latest level, my cinematic masterpiece which I was just about to finally finish now that water is out.

Just thought I'd share to say... back up your profile regularly!

I'm gonna go cry.
