Blog Enhancements Request

Archive: 9 posts

Dear lovely wonderful admins,

I've just finalised a 3000 word blog post, that sort of needs spoilers and I realised that Blogs don't accept [spoiler] tags. Obviously I should have checked this first, but is there any chance we can activate these tags in blogs.

Pretty please?

While I'm asking this, I could kind of use [table] tags if they exist. I'm pretty sure you've said no to this before and I totally understand why, but maybe in blogs it might be ok? Not holding out much hope though.

Overscore might come in handy for me too, but it's not really an issue either, so I'm not really fussed.

I had no idea the [spoiler] tag wasn't allowed. What error do you run into when you try to use it?2009-12-01 05:36:00

OK, I've found it. The tag is supported, and the html is generated from the tag correctly, but the following file defines the styles for the spoiler divs:

and it's not pulled in by the blog page. So you just get some plain-formatted divs on the blogs. It should simply be a case of adding a couple of lines to the blog pages to add those styles and you're done!

I know you could have worked this out for yourself but it was fun digging around for it

My original Post here:

Uh, sorry, I'll make myself clearer. I'm not sure it's exactly "not allowed", it just doesn't actually render properly. Using the following code:

Here is some Spoiler Text

Here is some more spoiler text

produces the following in a thread:

Here is some Spoiler Text

Here is some more spoiler text

If I post the same thing in my blog, it looks like:

Here is some Spoiler Text

spoiler with title
Here is some more spoiler text

As you can hopefully see here:

edit - I just did a quick dive into the source and found that the html is the same:

In the thread:

<!--spoiler-wrap-->

<div class="spoiler-wrap">
<div class="spoiler-head folded clickable">Click here to see full text

Yeah, I've encountered the same error before (actually, it was the only thing keeping the spoiler tag from working in other areas of the site). I believe it's been fixed - let me know if it hasn't.2009-12-02 03:45:00

Thanks, CC. I can confirm it works wonderfully.

Now, get on that blog, rtm!

Yes indeed the blogs are working fine except for in the preview - when you are editing blogs. Not exactly a big issue, just an FYI...

I assume my other requests (tables and overscore) are "no"s then?

Wow rtm, you definitely need to replace my computer teacher. lol

Offtopic, but I used the auto-correct function as a one-minute joke so that when my partner typed his name it'd say diapers, and I got a conduct with "vandalism" written on it because my computer teacher spent two hours trying to find the giant blue icon under an auto-corrected word

Tables definitely cause more problems than they're worth, in my experience. I can look into the overscore thing though.

Thanks CC, I figured the tables would be a no-go. The overscore would be convenient, but I can certainly work without it, so if it's any hassle then don't worry.2009-12-03 10:08:00
