Yes! Leerdammer is out! Alright, anyone want to go play Online Create with me? EDIT: Well, i searched for people on LBP.. Either they wanted to play other levels, had to leave early, or were just unfriendly ("What do you want to make?" "Your Mother"). Not many people on LBP today, even though Leerdammer is out. | 2009-11-30 16:51:00 Author: robbit10 Posts: 450 |
Not many people on LBP today, even though Leerdammer is out. Strange i found the opposite i had the most friends online i have ever had at once (10 that's nearly all of them) and every single one of them were playing lbp. This has been an awesome day!!! | 2009-11-30 21:50:00 Author: Doopz Posts: 5592 |
Anyone else notice: Checkpoints can now be activated using switches. Race Gates can be made thin again! Play, Create, Share scores have been removed ? we thought these scores were a good idea but they never worked in the way we wanted them to. They may return one day. Maybe. Just thought I'd point these out. | 2009-11-30 23:15:00 Author: dawesbr Posts: 3280 |
Anyone else notice: Just thought I'd point these out. Yup!! On a few threads now. Pretty cool huh? ..you can also attach switches to the scoreboard if you like. | 2009-11-30 23:29:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |
Also, changing materials makes a humorous noise and magetic keys no longer fling upwards when you detach them . Sadly, the connector glitch that allowed you to use bolts and rods and other connectors on your sackboy was patched . Horrible too, because I had so many plans with it in online create. | 2009-11-30 23:40:00 Author: Incinerator22 Posts: 3251 |
[...] Sadly, the connector glitch that allowed you to use bolts and rods and other connectors on your sackboy was patched . Horrible too, because I had so many plans with it in online create. Wasn't there a big risk of corrupting your profile data when using that glitch? | 2009-11-30 23:53:00 Author: Gilgamesh Posts: 2536 |

This update was amazing. I just had a create session with people from Britain, Germany and Australia, with no lag at all. | 2009-12-01 02:02:00 Author: Arkei Posts: 1432 |
Well, I found something else they patched out. You are no longer able to make center-less wheels. I'm not sure why this was patched to be honest. It's a relatively unknown little glitch, and it can be quite handy. Not only can you not make them anymore, you cannot place one that has been saved as an object. I can see the bolt on the object when I go to place it, but as soon as it's placed, the bolt is deleted. I have used this glitch in the level I've been working on, and I hope that it doesn't corrupt it somehow. I had a workshop level that had one in it, but that is now getting the failed to load level message. I will assume that these are unrelated, but am preparing for the worst. ---- Also, you can no longer place checkpoints into the glitched layers. It didn't do much before, and they didn't work right regardless, but now when you glitch a checkpoint back, it will revert to the back-thick layer upon entry to play mode. I didn't exhaust all possibilities, but I assume it's been patched completely. I hope this isn't the case for other objects glitched into the background layers. Cheers. ---- On the plus side, has anyone noticed the reduction in lag. I played with several different people today, and had no problems what-so-ever. Also, the switch activated checkpoints are a godsend! This fixed a problem I was having! It's been a day of highs and lows! | 2009-12-01 02:08:00 Author: comphermc Posts: 5338 |
One thing I've noticed that has been updated is the DLC backgrounds. Before, they had no ambient sound, but now they do. The MGS background has a windy sound, with faint explosions in the distance. The History background has a strong, eerie wind sound. The Monster Cave background has wind, water dripping, and insects chirping. Also, you can no longer place checkpoints into the glitched layers. It didn't do much before, and they didn't work right regardless, but now when you glitch a checkpoint back, it will revert to the back-thick layer upon entry to play mode. I didn't exhaust all possibilities, but I assume it's been patched completely. I think checkpoints have always done that with glitched layers, I think I remember someone saying something about having trouble doing that glitch, but they succeeded somehow. | 2009-12-01 02:37:00 Author: warlord_evil Posts: 4193 |

I forgot to mention in my last post - I'm pretty sure that there's a new sound effect for surpassing someone else's score in a level. It's a neat little sound | 2009-12-01 04:21:00 Author: hilightnotes Posts: 1230 |
Well it's all great so far except for the fact I still can't connect to the people I want to connect to. The update has made no difference whatsoever to that We've always had connection issues, but managed to get it together in the end, but today, alas, nothing. I'm hoping it was just maybe an overload of people on the server or something like that... I dunno... bummer... | 2009-12-01 07:35:00 Author: BabyDoll1970 Posts: 1567 |

They have always had ambient sounds in them, even before this update. I'm always amused by these updates when people start "re-discovering" the old and think its something new. | 2009-12-01 09:23:00 Author: Zwollie Posts: 2173 |
They have always had ambient sounds in them, even before this update. I'm pretty sure there's new ones too. In the Metroplosi background I'm fairly certain I heard people talking. | 2009-12-01 09:32:00 Author: Nuclearfish Posts: 927 |

I had a listen but nothing seems different to me. As I said, people are paying too much attention to things they took for granted before. Off course things are gonna sound & look different when you actually start paying attention to them!! | 2009-12-01 10:53:00 Author: Zwollie Posts: 2173 |

Well, maybe it worked for you, but I never had background sounds in the DLC backgrounds. I distinctly remember saying it was a shame they didn't have them like the ones in the main game do. Perhaps there was a bug that only happened to some people, which has been fixed. Which is very cool! | 2009-12-01 11:18:00 Author: Rogar Posts: 2284 |

They have always had ambient sounds in them, even before this update. I'm sure that they never had sound, I remember looking at the backgrounds, and not hearing any ambient. Perhaps it's a bug that I and a few other people had. I'm pretty sure there's new ones too. In the Metroplosi background I'm fairly certain I heard people talking. I thought I've always heard people talk in metropolis ambient, they don't talk all the time though, so some might miss it. | 2009-12-01 21:46:00 Author: warlord_evil Posts: 4193 |
I'm sure that they never had sound, I remember looking at the backgrounds, and not hearing any ambient. Perhaps it's a bug that I and a few other people had. I didn't have sound before either...if I changed from another non-DLC background I would continue to hear that background's sounds...but only for that edit session. I noticed this change right away after the update since I was using the Monster Pack DLC background in my new level...I had dripping noises and such that weren't there before. I'm very happy with this update...finally all my levels back under 1 profile! | 2009-12-01 22:04:00 Author: fullofwin Posts: 1214 |
really good update love how you can back-up your levels. One thing I noticed is on cool pages where it says previous the s is bellow the rest of the word.. Of course, thats nit-picking lol | 2009-12-02 00:45:00 Author: Packfan55 Posts: 15 |
Yeah - I have new ambient sounds in my long since published levels. It's kind of annoying at some points, and perfect at others. Oh well... | 2009-12-02 15:11:00 Author: v0rtex Posts: 1878 |
There is now an option to ?Auto-Reject? invitations from other players. The option is in ?Profile Settings?. If you have this set to ?On, no one will be able to join you unless you choose to ?Play Online?. This setting is not saved to your profile and needs to be set every time you play. Why, oh why is this not saved....? If I set myself to antisocial mode, it means I'd like to be in antisocial mode, I'll tell you when I want to be sociable again... | 2009-12-03 21:19:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |
Probably because you might forget you have it turned on, and Mm wants to promote social interaction. | 2009-12-04 09:44:00 Author: Rogar Posts: 2284 |
Well yes, I'm sure social interaction is the reason for the decision, but it's still a bad decision IMO. What is it to them if I don't want to play with others? I'm not going to just because of the default setting, all it's ever going to do is cause the user (me) annoyance. As for the "you might forget", well I might forget to switch it off when I log back in, as I now have to do every single time I might turn off community objects and forget to turn them back on, it will still stay off when I reboot - why is that different? Plus if it's accidentally off, it's less annoying and intrusive to me than if it's accidentally on. | 2009-12-04 10:58:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |
LBP is all about the community, about playing with and sharing with others. The community objects setting doesn't interfere with player contact, the auto-reject setting does. And like you say, if it's accidentally rejecting, you won't notice and might not realise it's off until much later, but if you forget to turn it on, you'll notice when someone is bugging you, and you can switch it on then. Of course, I don't have any friends, so I'm not the best judge here but I can totally see why Mm would reason this way. Or maybe it's a bug, only Mm can tell. | 2009-12-04 11:33:00 Author: Rogar Posts: 2284 |
It's not a bug - the quote is from the official announcement of features. So it's probably supposed to be this way. But the feature is there for convenience - to keep forcing you to re-enable it is inconvenient. In all fairness, it doesn't really affect me that much - my friends know I rarely want to play online, so they generally don't send requests. Most of them are polite enough to send PSN messages first, which is great, I'll respond to regardless of the auto-reject. I just want the personal settings I choose to be my personal settings - is that too much to ask? | 2009-12-04 13:01:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |
This same discussion came up during testing. I was on the side of thinking it was kinda silly to have to set it every time, especially since it sits next to other settings I don't need to set every new session. However, that was how Mm wanted to do this feature. So at least it's there and keeps me from wanting to kick more friends off my list. | 2009-12-04 13:31:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |
