The ConvoluteratorSLS10 This level is all wrapped up in itself! Travel through a winding temple-style level chock full of sticker switches, platforming madness, and spinning things. Race against a rather generous clock and score some mad points! all I didn't release this one publically at first because I wanted to check something about certain people of the forum. Now that I have the reassurance I need, a public release is now possible. Enjoy, leave comments, and tell me which level of yours I should (very, very harshly) review. | 2009-11-30 04:52:00 Author: SLS10 Posts: 1129 |
I had the joy of play testing this level and it was great! The stickering was something new and I loved how you would be traveling through the same parts of the level in different ways. As SLS10 said, the level is all wrapped in itself! I gave it 5 stars when I play tested it, aswell as a heart. Seriously people, play this level. | 2009-11-30 14:05:00 Author: iGotFancyPants Posts: 1355 |
I played it way back when I first got a beta key... very nice, loved the idea of having to sticker things as fast as possible as part of a race. ^-^ Don't know if you had any updates in this one, but I thought the springy platform segment was hard if you didn't fix it for this one... ah well, I'll play the finished version soon. | 2009-11-30 20:28:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |
The only addition I made was a photo booth about 2/3 of the way into the level. Other than that, it's the same thing. Not that that's a bad thing though, right? Heheheh. | 2009-11-30 22:12:00 Author: SLS10 Posts: 1129 |
Great level again from SLS10. Great level design here with the level all "convoluted" as it is. As well with keeping the players busy with numerous obsticles/puzzles that keep the players busy through out the level. Never feeling repetative and always feeling fresh. Thats what i like about your levels is the flow of obsticles is always good, keeping the player busy from one obsticle to the next with little to no down time,(thats probably one of my biggest annoyances is having to run and extended distance from a to b just becuase the creator couldnt link the obsticles well). Here everything is overlayed on itsself and really shows off this sort of skill in design. good job. | 2009-12-01 14:30:00 Author: deboerdave Posts: 384 |
Really good level once again SLS10! I really liked the backtracking and all the obstacles that you made. The only (very minor) negative that I found was that the second sticker part could've had a better camera. It's like things you need to sticker were almost off the screen. Other than that great job! | 2009-12-01 21:08:00 Author: brnxblze Posts: 1318 |

My level of the day to play. SlS's last level is in my top ten of all time, So I can't wait!! | 2009-12-04 18:10:00 Author: KQuinn94Z Posts: 1758 |
I really enjoyed this level. Its refreshing to play something totally gameplay based (rather than story or visuals inclined). The 'beginning to end' race is a good way of encouraging replays and I will certainly be going back. It doesn't quite have the 'wow' factor of other levels, but thats not the point of this level. Its fun, VERY well designed, clever, and original. | 2009-12-04 21:54:00 Author: TheAdipose Posts: 533 |
Howdy, SLS10. I had two quick runs through the level, and I liked what I saw: lots of platforming with no lull in the action from start to finish. It was a smooth experience, with not much negative to remark upon, so I'll just toss around some ideas that I think could make it even better. First, I'm not a big fan of materials with patterns on them (though that's probably because I can't work well with them ). But when you have multiple multi-coloured patterned materials all over the place AND the camera is zoomed out (as was the case in the first room), it's hard to figure out where your attention should go. Don't get me wrong, the platforms are perfectly placed and the whole room works just fine, it's just that some visual cues could help a great deal in knowing where to jump next to progress through the room. I've noticed you used no lights whatsoever in the level... perhaps it would be a good idea to add a few here to highlight points of interest. The button on the right hand side for example was something I didn't even notice at first, until I was on the platform right next to it. Another thing that had me wondering is why all those logic elements (mag switches & keys, dissolve and dark matter) were in plain sight and visible. In a sense it's great if the level is originally meant to be a tutorial level on how to put simple logic to good use, but if it's not the purpose of the level, hiding them somewhere out of the players' view would improve the aesthetics a lot. One final nitpick, though this is nothing major and just a matter of preference: when placing score bubbles for the player to explore and pick up in a race level, it's usually a good idea to place enough bubbles at the end of the detour to justify taking it in the first place. In other words, if the time it takes to go for those extra bubbles is 15 seconds, you should add enough bubbles to (more than) make up for the lost score that 15 seconds means when finishing the race, that way the player is rewarded for exploring and collecting bonus bubbles, not penalized. The one place where this occured to me in your level was above the hamster wheel puzzle (which I thought was brilliant, by far the most fun in the level!). To summarize: The level's a joy to play for platformers like myself, and if the visuals and sounds matched the quality of the gameplay, I'd not hesitate to give it 5 stars. Even in its current state I'd rate it: :star::star::star::star: and hearted it as well. Good job all around! As for F4F, the level I'm currently participating with is in my signature, I'd appreciate if you could write up a feedback on it as well. | 2009-12-05 16:42:00 Author: sny Posts: 144 |
