Appalachian Trail

Archive: 4 posts

anyone done this, or want to do this? I so do, i love the natural beauty of the outdoors and love to take pictures and just experience all that nature has to offer. I may only be 16(almost 17(couple more days)) but this is a life ambition.

For those of you who may not know, the Appalachian Trail is a approximately 2,178 miles or 3500 km long. It spans across more then 15 of the United States. It starts in Mount Katahdin in Maine and goes to Springer Mountain in Georgia or vice versa. The temperature can go from beautiful to terrible in the blink of an eye. Over 3,000 annual attempts are made to traverse the trail every year. Only around 200 actually do it.

I recently just got back from The Blue Ridge Parkway and the Shenandoah Trail with my family(for Thanksgiving) and it was amazing. I'm posting all my pictures on my profile if you want to check them out. I recommend everyone who likes the outdoors and hiking to do some. I would love to try rock-climbing as well(and i'm afraid of heights!). (***pictures are up***)

I was just curious how everyone else felt about this trail or hiking in general.

Hiking is wonderful fun (if a little bit tiring)! I've done a bit around England and some in Peru. I hope to walk the Inca Trail in Peru and a trail across a desert in Africa. Also some mountain walks (because one of my passions is also rock climbing!) Even though I to am afraid of heights
...wait...are you me?

Oh, yes definitely want to do that one day. The only thing keeping me from doing that is time and money.
For some reason I also really want to walk around GB for some reason.

I used to be a boy scout and this is something that we always talked about doing... part of it anyway. I guess we just never got around to it. Good luck if you ever attempt it.

As for me... I think playing Oregon Trail is as hardcore outdoorsman as I have time to be these days.
