.:Welcome to the Sig Contest :.

If you enjoy making works of art known as 'sigs'
Then this is your contest to enter!

How it works:
Anyone can join this contest as long as they provide an entry for the first round. Each week there will be a new theme to construct a sig from. After each round(one round per week), one contestant will be eliminated and will not be allowed to continue the game.

Disqualifications:
Remember, the sigs you create and choose to publish in this contest must be "school appropriate" in the fact that they do not contain profanity, nudity, or discrimination. Keep it G-rated or you will be disqualified from this contest. Also, all the work submitted must be YOUR OWN and not someone else's. If you have any questions regarding these policies please send me a message.

Size Limit:
The max limit for each round will be 500 pixels in length by 200 pixels in height unless specified in the round's theme.

Prize:
First place in the Sig Contest V.7 will receive 500 XP!
(after a contestant is eliminated their name will appear silver)

Round ONE:

::.Freestyle.::
This weeks theme is freestyle! Meaning you can do any theme style pretty much whatever. Go all out and good luck! (im doing this to see how much you guys improve as you progress)

This sig concept is quite interesting. I think if you expanded on it and tried to experiment with different settings and effects you could get something amazing! I suggest checking out c4d's and using them with your work to create subtle effects or whatever you can come up with. Keep at it and im sure you will become a lot better good job m8. On another note using text in two areas rarely works well so try keep them together.

Well this sig looked quite good. The vector shapes and text effects were nice. The whole sig however felt a little empty as even though it had a clean look you could have added a whole lot more. KIU m8 and GJ

Man you have come far! You have improved so much since i met you. The sig is pretty decent in my opinion. However to me it looks a little boring. You could have added some fancy effects and stuff that would have made it 10X better. The render also should be blended a little better and the black line should go bye. For me this isn't your best but it's a solid effort. Keep up the good work man hope to see you improve over the course of this contest.

Hey good work i quite like this one! The tag is pretty crisp and clean one problem though it's a little too basic for my liking. The soft brush lighting looks very tacy and kind of brings the tag down. Either lower the opacity or use burn and doge (second option ) The text draws your attention away from the focal so that isn't too good and meh scanlines i hate them . Overall though Good Job!

Hmm like CNP's i say text is a bit too large and draws focus away. Another note is the border doesn't work i suggest using a plain black border. The brushing is pretty good i guess but the render isn't very well blended so meh. I say decent effort from you keep up the good work.

Sad that you didn't get a chance to finish it buddy. Since it is haddrawn i think its still a pretty solid effort. The boarder i would change though to a 1px black one? Text is nice move it down a little and it would be better. Anyway GJ and KIU.

Ahh coxy this sig of yours was pretty good! Render needs a little sharpening in some areas. The c4d's and fractal? look quite nice one problem the black c4d is a little chunky either erase it or choose one that suits it better. Render also needs to blended a little and the text draws the focal away so i suggest moving it closer to the render in future. Good job though KIU

A decent tag however i suggest you develop your style a bit more as i have said to the others a little too basic! Im not saying basic is bad or anything but if it's too basic it doesn't look as nice. On another note the bg was quite nice i liked the fading gradient effect. Render was moved too much to the left i suggest moving it more to the right. The text looked nice however it was away form the focal so it drew my attention away. The empty space kinda killed it as well. A pretty nice try anyway. KIU

::Winter::

Well since it is the season i have decided to make it a winter theme. Add in snoorw whatever the hell you think relates to it. Have fun and Good Luck (yes this time someone will get knocked out)

Hmm this one is quite interesting although i don't really lie it as much as your other stuff. Effects are pretty decent the c4ds are a little strong in some parts if you erased it a little it would be better. Depth is there but text kinda kills it for me. The effects dont really work on it and it should be a little closer to the focal nonetheless it is still decent. I guess work on your c4d placement and text.

Man this tag is pretty nice. I love the texture and style of this. Sometimes simple works. Anyway one problem i find with this is the box behind the text it seems a little too long? Sorry for the lack of advice Good JoB and KIU.

I dunno not really liking this It is a little too basic for my liking. I expected a lot better its still alright though. I hope you amaze me next round. Try experimenting with c4ds and different filters and effects.

Hmm this sig looks pretty good man. Motion blur is implemented nicely and splatter brushing is pretty good. One complaint i make is that the colours are a little bland and there aren't enough effects. Blending should be worked on the rest is nice. Good Job man and Keep it Up.

Um this tag is pretty good i guess...The brushing is nice but it would be even bter if you used clipping masks on them (i will make tutorial) The bg doesn't really work and next time try something more complex. The text kinda draws away your focus should be placed nearer to your focal point (render). Good Job though KIU

I was actually disapointed with this one you could have done so much more. I know you were trying to follow the "I" style but it really didn't come out well. Alot more effort could be put into this. Kiu

Nice one its pretty good. I like the grunge style you did but it seems a little to messy. The compo needs some work. Effects and stuff are good though text could be better. GJ and KIU

hmm i think you are improving loads man . a weak point i have to say is your composition of your sigs. you are about the stage where you should start trying to experiment and develop a style instead of sticking to simple sigs. just keep on working and im sure you will become very good ;p. great job

uhh im afraid i dont really like this as much as your other stuff :o. the fractals and c4ds you used seem a little lq and to me it looks like you just placed them behind the render. you did more than that but i think it would have been better if you used a bg stock or something. the effects and stuff are decent its just the background that lets this down a little. i suggest experimenting with stocks in your sigs. kiu and gj

Yes we have come to the final round i would have liked to have more but o well. So the theme is freestyle again...i thought it would be appropriate as you guys can do whatever you want. So go on put lots of effort into them and show m how good you guys have become .

First congrats on making it this far. You really have become a lot better since the last contest anyway here is what i think. I like the bg that you made the texture is quite nice. However one thing.....killed it :O. The render i think you could have chosen a better one. The blurring and smudging you did doesn't really work. I see that you tried to experiment and stuff which is good . But i think you could have done better. Great Job nonetheless and I hope that you will join the next sig contest. Well great Job on getting to the finals again!!! I quite like this sig its clean and nice. My only complaint is that you could have made it outstanding by adding it more effects and trying to get good depth, lighting and blending. Color is pretty interesting (do note im color blind XD). The text is also executed quite well. I say start using burn n doge and sharpen and blur. Great Job Coxy Keep up the good work.

So I could make a terrible sig that gets a little praise and you could make a great one that Rseah thinks is better - that's all that's going to matter in the end. I know IceMaiden didn't mean to discourage anyone, she's always been so kind in helping my look at sigs, and just generally been my friend on here so you can see why she wanted to tell me she liked my sig.

I have been watching this contest with interest - as I do with all the sig contests.

I must say, I think rseah has provided some very interesting and challenging rounds and I feel sorry I didn't enter.

However, I'm a little confused by the last posts..

I understand that there are only two valid entries for this round, but the way some posts read, it could be interpreted that this was the last and final round... which can't be..

Surely if Mod and Coxy have submitted entries, they are both through to the final round by default; which has yet to be set.

Both contestants entered this round believing that this was potentially the penultimate round and would not have submitted their best work. It seem criminal to end the contest now, knowing that the best is yet to come in the final - which I look forward to.

rseah - could you please clarify what you are doing? I know you will probably do the right thing with a proper final, but at the moment, I'm not sure how this will end.

What is the final round going to be?

Not the place to be posting taht. Have a look around, couple of tutorials on ehre.

But i suggest getting either photoshop (moneyz) or Gimp which is free. Gimp would probably be better for you if you are just starting. Download it from the website (don't know the address, you should be able to google it though) and then head over to youtube or google, and search for gimp tutorials. That will give you a good starting to learn how to do things by watching. Also, check out deviantart.com for some brushes etc.point		2010-01-24 23:27:00
