Custom Costume Sharing

Archive: 21 posts

My idea is that, if you can put objects into prize bubbles, you should be able to do the same with custom costumes, so others can have your cool costumes. However, you're probably thinking that this could be a way to get free costumes. But, it wouldn't, because, just like objects with DLC in them, you couldn't use them without buying the proper DLC, or if it had a story costume, you'd need to collect it before you could use it.

So, what do you think?

I always thought that costume designs were supposed to be personal and able to show the creative potential of the creator of the costume. Though you wouldn't have to put your costume in a prize bubble. Actually this sounds like a good idea after all.2009-11-29 02:15:00

Someone would put a fake crown wearing one and that would be the end of crowns.
but whatever. I think it could work...

or instead of that, a box that sackboy goes in one end comes out the other wearing the costume, and there could be a tickbox whether it removed at the end of the level or in the case of dlc which would anyway, stay on and be allowed to be saved, However... To combat the crown uprising, the maximum decorations would be limited in the box say to 5...

This would be quite cool, but it could be used for fake crowns, like chezhead said.2009-11-29 17:29:00

Techically, Crowns are DLC, so you couldn't use a costume with a Crown/Beta Vest/any other rare costumes without earning them yourself.2009-11-29 19:59:00

I can also tell between a fake crown and a real one.2009-11-29 22:14:00

how about you can only get the costume if you have all of the clothes needed.
e.g. the prize costume is a dracula skin with chinese dragon hat. You cannot collect it unless you have both items.
Essentially the same as collecting objects with DLC but including story clothing.

That would work. You could use it in that level, but you couldn't save it.2009-11-30 20:42:00

Or maybe you could "Lock" certain parts of the costume popit, So you could create a "test subject" Gown, lock the trousers, tops, shoes, and hands (cant have test subjects with swords now can we?) but let them customise everything else, and locked areas couldnt be stickered on, so you could have a test subject but then allow them to customize the skin hair nose eyes etc2009-11-30 20:48:00

Or...use my idea and make it so if you don't have all the costume pieces, if you put a different item on, everything that you haven't unlocked will disappear. This would combat being able to make new costumes with DLC gear that you don't have. Even though you technically get free DLC gear, you won't use the "full" version (if you have it, you won't lose it if you edit). 2009-12-28 21:09:00

no that wouldnt work, imagine making a Watchmen level, and it requires you to dress up as the silk spectre; using your idea it would make a naked sackboy, using my idea it would be the silk spectre as long as the creator had it, then after the level it would go back to the players costume2009-12-28 21:45:00

But Kernel, I think something like that would get abused.

Basically, the noobs will be making their levels with ALL of the costumes they downloaded into the level, therefore creating levels with a handicap for more plays/hearts because the player who doesn't own the DLC can go into the level to use them. :/

To be honest, you could make it like that. I think my idea could be used, but then limit it to only two or so items in a pack.2009-12-29 14:32:00

i like the idea of their being some sort of box u sackboy walks in and voila hes wearing a costume he does not have see abuse of that is easily blocked with a auto stripper (lol) basically once u end the level it takes off ur clothes and reverts to a naked sackboy and the costume is not changable and u cant save or change it also u should only be limited to give out 2 costumes one for sackgirls the other for us sackboys it would work and also sharing in a bubble custom costumes would be cool even if the guy dont have the story/dlc item he could wear it well dlc he couldnt but if he didnt have the dlc it would work like the items with dlc on it all comes together like hat also the costumes are not re savable or editable2010-01-02 08:42:00
