New to LBP and to LBPcentral

Archive: 16 posts

Hi everybody.

I joined LBPcentral 2 weeks ago and got so engrossed with what the various forum sections have in them that I completely forgot to introduce myself.

I'm in Australia [yes, another one] and only got LBP a few weeks ago, just in time for the 1st birthday it would seem.
I've just about finished story mode ,just 3 levels to Ace and those 4 player ones to sort, and thoroughly loved the MGS pack as well.
I found LBPcentral through another forum site that seems to have closed ,possibly a previous incarnation of this one?

Anyway,I have just started trying to get my LBP creator head on in the last two days ,just testing things out basically.
I've been reading the tutorial sections today, pretty much all of them,a lot printed out,an absolute Gold Mine of information all in the one place, got to love that, although I am still a bit confused with some of the more advanced stuff,it will come I suppose.

The "What makes a good level" really hit home, especially after playing some truly dire levels that have been published [That thread should be in the Game manual in Big Print],and realized that I was heading down the slippery path of mediocrity by going about level building the wrong way.

So I wrote a story, then the script, worked out whats needed, now all I have to do is build it.

Sorry about the long winded first post, but this is the most excited I've been about anything in a long time.

Cheers.

Welcome! Glad ya mad it!

Looks like you are finding your way around nicely!

...as far as create mode, it really does take awhile to get used to all the tools as well as get in the mindset of how to build stuff effectively. However, anything we can do to help with, please don't hesitate to ask if you don't happen to find a topic covering that in the Help section.

Have fun!

Welcome to LBPCentral. Like me I'm sure you'll find this to be one of the friendliest and helpful online gaming communities anywhere. The Mod's and CC have done a great job keeping this site going. Make sure to check out the SiteGuide (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=p=81138#post81138) to get familiar with how things work around here. Also make full use of the User Control Panel (http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/usercp.php) so people can get to know you. The UCP is full of helpful tools and apps. It is where you fill out your profile, bio, add people to your friends list, create photo albums, create blogs, send and receive PM? the list goes on. Take advantage of it.

At the risk of sounding like shameful self promoting check out my blog. Little Big Planet: A Social Experiment (http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/blog.php?b=822) I think it captures the spirit of this website. (To all the veterans... please let me know if this is too off the wall and I will remove it from my welcome speel)

Make yourself at home and welcome to the family!

Well, hello fellow Aussie! So you're the BLACK Wiggle? Does that mean you try to lure children towards the more sordid? I hope not! Either way, I expect you're wearing your black skivvy!
Anyhow, yes, welcome to LBPC. It is engrossing, and obsessive, so prepare for massive disturbance in your real-life for a while til it passes through your system.
Slight exaggeration there by MrsSpookyBuz as I think there are only 5 or 6 compatriots here on LBPC... but she's English, so that explains her relative ignorance about our fair land (love you MrsSB! )
Have fun, and don't worry about mediocrity to start with. if you start at the top of your creative game it's only downhill from there. Cheers!

I actually got the nickname "The Blackwiggle" from the guys in the Wiggles.
We live in the same area and used to run into each other playing pub trivia, they had just changed their name of their band from "The Cockroach's" to the Wiggles.
I turned up to trivia one cold winters night wearing a black skivvy,so I got christened the Black wiggle there and then.

Welcome! Pub trivia you say? I love pub trivia. Too bad an ocean prevents me from sharing a table and geeking out on you. Maybe that's a good thing afterall.

Have fun!

btw - you were welcomed by the creator of Splat Invaders..... oh yes you were (CCubbage if you aren't familiar - check out his stuff - will blow your mind.)

Wow... so you were buds with the real thing? You should have joined them right there, on the spot. You too could have just been knocked off the #1 highest entertainment industry earners in Australia (AC/DC beat them this year, so.. that's acceptable ). You must be getting on a bit then if you knew them when they were the Cockroaches... If you're a bit of an old geezer, check out the (almost defunct, but still a good read) 30+ thread in the Find Other Happy Gadders section fo the forums, and there you'll get an idea of who the other more seasoned members of LBPC are (myself included.. will be 40 next year :S). Also the social groups. Loads of us in there too. Have fun and we'll see you round. Also, feel free to send me an add if you're interested. Could be handy to have someone in my own country to jump online with occasionally.
Cheers!

Heya, blackwiggle. As far as that right path/wrong path thing...it's great to know what you WANT to do, and I personally storyboard stuff...but there's something to be said, at first, for strapping a few rockets to some cheetahs and going for it! You can regret your foul deeds after you've had some fun committing them.

Send me a message if you have any questions. It's cool to see people coming here because of Logic Pack...'course, if you want switches, better to go straight to comphermc or rtm223.
