LeerDammer Questions

Archive: 9 posts

Okay i am a bit confuzzled about some things in the 'leerdammer" Update... and i was hoping to get my questions answered by someone who actually gets it.

1. Will my game still autosave?
2. What possible bugs could this bring? and could they do damage?
3. Will lag be reduced in online create?
4. Why name the update after CHEESE?

So, if any of you have the answers, i would like to hear them!

1. autosave? Like when you play levels and stuff - ya. When your making levels - no. Just like it is now.

2. bugs? Well it IS LBP There's always the possibility of bugs it's software. Beta should have found most if not all of them but there's always that chance. If your worried - backup you data before you download the update.

3. Lag? It seemed to in the beta. It's dependent on what kind of connection you have and what those who join you have obviously but it did seem better in beta.

4. They name all their updates after Cheese. Check the update list on their site.

1) I guess so
2) Making new content as often as mm do there is bound to be a few, but if they are very bad like the gamebreaker glitch they'll surely patch them up quick
3) Probably still be some but according to mm they've cut down lag for the release
4) Why not?

As an answer to #4:

We name our updates after types of cheese. The reason behind this has been lost in time, or perhaps just behind the coffee machine, but legend says it all started as as a bit of a joke, and went too far.

In answer to number 2 it does save automatically but to pretty much nulify what morgana said you wont be able to back up your LBP save befor the update because afterwoods that save will be useless.2009-11-28 13:41:00

Really? Our regular LBP saves worked fine in the beta. From what I understand you'll be able to back up your save data now and then import it whenever you want after Leerdammer.

Also, regarding the lag question, 95% of the time in the beta I had little to no lag. I would rather play levels with friends on the beta than in the regular game because it was so much better. Who knows what will happen when there's thousands of people using the servers though...

Maybe to clarify and an attempt to answer what I think you are asking in #1.

Yes... your profile will still autosave just as it does now. That is the default profile in progress so to speak which you can think of the same way as it works currently.

You have the additional option to backup that profile as well as select levels to backup. So in case your profile does corrupt, it is that default one and it is a matter (or at least in the beta it was) of blowing that away and once the game recovered, pulling in a recent backup of your profile. That profile may not have your most current levels on your moon and then you simply import those to a slot on your moon or copy it down if you had them published locked instead.

Levels on the other hand save as soon as you hit save!

I had a handy recovery guide I made in the Beta forum that I will move out to the tutorials when I get a chance, probably later this evening as I am heading out the door here in a bit.

That's what I meant to say jww. I guess I didn't explain so thouroughly - thanks for clarifying it.

As for the backups working - they should. Beta ones did, and every other update to LBP hasn't messed with my backups so I'm pretty confident it will work.
