What's your favorite obscure game?

Archive: 21 posts

Most of the threads that I see here are for the more popular games out there. I know that I've got a few games that I really like that aren't really on everybody's radar. Let's all share what obscure games that we're really into, or just want to get out there a little more.

For me it has to be No One Can Stop Mr. Domino!

The title alone should have made this thing huge when it came out on the PS1, right?

In it, you play as a domino and you lay out tracks of dominoes with the goal of getting a really long chain while avoiding obstacles and working against a time limit. Weird stuff, but it was a lot of fun.

Anyone else?

Jet Set Radio Future

I suppose it's not THAT obscure but it still seems as though noones heard of it, it's like one of the best games i've ever played!
In terms of gameplay it could be considered a pretty normal game but the theme and personality is just completly unique

Mine is a PS1 game too. It's my favourite game ever and I've played it at least 7 or 8 times.

Front Mission 3

I downloaded a demo from the playstation store of a new one in the series called Front Mission Evolved a few months ago but heard nothing about it since. I just hope it's coming out on PS3.

well it used to be a game hardly anyone new but then Mm took it shadow of the colossus.

But that isn't very obscure anymore.

I totally love katamari though its something to do with the awesome visuals matched with the brilliant soundtrack that gives me clump spirit.

a game i would love to play is the PS2 game Mr Mosquito but i believe it only in japan and its not worth importing.

It was an N64 called Glover, I think, and you were a little glove dude and had to guide this ball around a whole bunch of colorful levels. It was an awesome game. And another game that I liked that wasn't so popular was Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy. It was a fantastic game, just didn't get enough recognition. It was the only good Zelda-like game I've played besides Zelda.2009-11-28 17:45:00

Friel. It's an old game that I downloaded for my old pc years and years ago. It's not in english, but it's a puzzle game, sort of like tetris, dr. mario, etc. You have to arrange skeletons, bats, and little blobby things in groups of five until they disappear. My friends have told me that only an insane person can be good at it.

Erm... I'm kinda good at it. :O

N64 games: Space Station Silicon Valley, Body Harvest, Rocket: Robot on Wheels. some of the developers behind these awesome games have gone on to make additionally obscure games you may or may not heard of: Infamous and the Grand Theft Auto series.

For more recent fare: How about Mother 3 on the gameboy advance?

Another vote for Glover. Sadly it disappeared from my collection.

Also Blobbo

Glover was an amazing game. Loved it. I used to be afraid of that evil glove guy when i was little, though >_>

I personally liked Evolution Worlds for Gamecube, even though it got rather bad reviews. One of my favorite RPGs. It's actually two games in one D: it's a re-release of the Evolution series (for Dreamcast)

Mini Ninjas? Every time I mention that to somebody they say "what?"
I LOVE that game. I wish it was longer though :[ Hope they make a sequel with more forest/jungle-ish levels. I hate all of the snowy and castle ones D:

It's called Friel. I forget who makes it though. If I think about it, I'll go on my pc and take a screen shot of it. I know I still have it. ^_^

Many of these don't seem very obscure to me (loved Front Mission 3 btw, brilliant game). When I think of obscure games RAD comes to mind (stood for Robot Alchemic Drive). Not too ancient either, it was a PS2 game. Not my absolute favorite game...but it was very unique/different/memorable. You controlled a giant anime style robot via remote control...fun stuff, hilarious/intentionally bad dialog.2009-12-01 22:47:00
