Black Friday, Blitz, or the day everyone loses thier mind.

Archive: 13 posts

Greetings. I just wanted to say that if you ever have the chance,on the day after thanksgiving, do this:

Bring yourself a lawn chair, a bucket of popcorn, and some drinks to your local Wal-Mart (or whatever major retailer is near you,) and just....watch the stupidity.

I just spent the last 9 hours of my life preparing for, and cleaning up after, a group of wild animals that were at one point, i think anyway, calm and otherwise responsible adults.

Glass things were broken, i was run over with a shopping cart 2 times at least, and i was called names i'm not sure actually have a known meaning.

Not that I am complaining, i should point out. I LOVE the chaos, it makes me smile. But still. it makes you wonder how we got to where we are now without destroying all life on the planet.

Too bad Black Friday is only once a year. I was amused beyond all good reason.....

FIRST TIME YOU HEARD OF IT?
Well it is funny watching people rush for silverware, and old ladies bringing their cats and moms their children..
Speaking of that, when I was in South Dakota, some people brought their cat to the badlands, one of the hottest places in the USA. Oh, and it was by a lot of rattlesnakes and a large dropoff.

Ah, Black Friday. Day of the human society's status quo has no meaning, and the animal instincts kick in.

I love seeing the chaos, too. A man was shot near my house, because the man badly wanted in the store, so he tried to shorten the line. Call me wierd, but I peered out the window, smiled, and kept on watching a Christmas Special of Deff Junham's stand up.

I heard there was a riot at Walmart over some really cheap laptops or something. I hate going out on Black Friday, but I love listening to the news about how stupid people can get over a $50 TV.2009-11-27 19:34:00

I worked the graveyard shift stocking at Wal Mart some years back during the holiday rush, including black friday.

Happily, it wasn't a 24 hr wal mart. In my overnight shift (10 p.m. to 8 a.m.), there was an overlap of about 2 hours total where the store was open - one hour at night, and one in the morning.

I got to wave goodbye just as the chaos began. As I swiped my card and clocked out, the store was pristine, the foam just beginning to accumulate on the corners of shoppers' mouths. I slept and dreamed sweet dreams of shoppers, like lions in wild Africa, sharing in the innards of their fallen prey, feasting on human remains in the middle of Housewares, and growling at anyone who approached, as distant screams and the flashes of sparking explosions from the Electronics department filled the air.

Oh, I get it! Black Friday is when Thanksgiving Day is over and everyone starts shoppin' for Christmas! Sorry but I'm in Canada so we have Remembrance Day in November instead of the US's Thanksgiving time and we have our Thanksgiving a month earlier!2009-11-28 04:20:00

^It's called Black Friday because it's when the stores try to break even for the year (Red means the store is losing money and black means the store is even/gaining money).2009-11-28 15:49:00

...or black with the charred remains of people that have been in the electronics department during a black Friday 50% off sale...2009-11-28 17:22:00

Thank you, kind sir, for making my day.
