Multiplayer-Grab-Switch-Problem [Problem solved]

Archive: 5 posts

Hi,

I have a problem with one of them Grab-Switches, as for you cannot set them to only activate when all the Sackpeople in the level grab it simultaneously...

And that is basically my problem... I wanted to make my level multiplayer-friendly, but then I stumbled upon those darned Grab-Switches.

Problem is, it shall work in each case: When there is only one player, it should work normal...
When there are more, it should only activate, when everyone grabs it...

I hope there is a solution and not already been asked and answered here...

If you need more information as to what the he** I'm talking about, notice me. Then I could add some pictures or check my grammar^^

Here's a nice little solution...

Are you familiar with an AND gate?

What you can do is set up a Sensor switch in the very middle of the Grabbable object and tweak the radius to cover the area that sackboy is in when he is grabbing on the material. Set the Sensor Switch to 'require all.' Then set up a grab switch on your material. Set both of them to be directional.

Next, create something like this (or any type of AND gate that you are comfortable with):

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=1822&stc=1&d=1259246617

Attach your sensor switch to one of the pistons, and the grab switch to the other piston. Tweak the trigger radius of the magnetic key in the middle to be big big enough to "see" the keys when the pistons are their shortest length, but small enough that it can't "see" the keys when the pistons are at their longest length. Invert the magnetic key switch and set it to directional. Wire this magnetic key switch to your piston/winch/whatever that you are trying to move.

As you [hopefully] can see, the magnetic key switch will only activate when both pistons are extended, or as desired: when everyone is within the range of the sensor switch and someone is grabbing the grab switch.

You are now finished. If someone grabs the Grab Switch without the other players, nothing will happen. If one of the players lets go and falls out of range of the sensor switch, it will deactivate the AND gate and whatever you have it wired to will go back.

Make sense?

Haha, well actually that version of the AND gate is not shown in the Logic Pack, but it's what I use...

Well, I went through all of the LogicPack Tutorials before, but I couldn't figure out, how to implement it here, but the second I read your reply and you said "AND Gate" and "Sensor Switch" I knew how to do it...

I kinda don't know why I couldn't think of it myself

Thanks alot <3

PS: Your AND-Gate sorta looks like the OR-Gate from the Logic Pack^^

Edit: I just remebered why I couldn't think of this solution... It's because my grabbing material is really close to the ground and a Sensor switch would activate weather someone touches it or not... But I'll just replace the Sponge and it should work problerly. Thanks again :>
