About Lighting in the game
Archive: 14 posts
Well, me and a couple people were in iScribble a while back, and we were creating a volcano level ( inside the volcano ) and we didn't know if the level lighting was really flexible. Well, I found a link to some FAQs about it and some other stuff. Sorry if this was already out there, I searched and didn't find anything so. http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?board.id=littlebigplanet&message.id=34235#M34235 How flexible is the overall level lighting? Very. You have several controls which can affect the overall mood and lighting of a level, ranging from pitch blackness to very bright Hope this helped, it helps me. | 2008-09-24 23:57:00 Author: Whalio Cappuccino Posts: 5250 |
I was watching a live beta video yesterday and the guy was changing the lighting from pitch black to super light | 2008-09-25 00:00:00 Author: Unknown User |
I think you posted in the wrong section. If you want to know about lighting check this video out. Closer to the end [at about 3:33] you'll see what I mean. Simply awesome. Thanks go to BurlapSackBoy for finding it. https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=1849 | 2008-09-25 00:35:00 Author: docpac Posts: 601 |

Hey that's rudegrr:kz: Me and Clank always play around like that, but in the end, he's always my robotic lover. | 2008-09-25 01:52:00 Author: Whalio Cappuccino Posts: 5250 |

For some reason, I really like the idea of the mood created by having a very dark (or black) level, but all along the path of where to go you have lots of ambient lights. Glowing objects, burning objects, just plain lights, the works. Which also means that if you make a certain area with lots of dark places, you could have a secret pathway hidden in the darkness. Perhaps to some hidden cashe of rewards. Heck, go full-tilt-boogie and put these things all over the level. That's be great, too. | 2008-09-25 05:15:00 Author: Mark D. Stroyer Posts: 632 |
The lighting change effects are very versatile, however, they are not all of the tools that are coming out with the game come release day. But, for the tools we have already, in the Beta, WOW. I cannot WAIT for the full release. | 2008-09-25 11:36:00 Author: JigsawGeneral Posts: 46 |
I can't wait to make a scary theme ride...all dark and stuff, then monsters pop out and light switches on for like half a second, mixed with proper sound effects and a creepy music (I'm sure LBP will deliver in all aspects, including sound effects)...Give some players a bit of a fright =D | 2008-09-25 11:42:00 Author: Stix489 Posts: 2080 |

Thanks go to BurlapSackBoy for finding it. https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=1849 After seeing that video I'm starting to think that I'm not nearly creative enough to keep up with any of the good stuff that will be uploaded. A lot of it was so cool and original... the washing machine was amazing! I guess I'll see when the game's released. I have a feeling though that the levels that I make will be rehashed basic platform elements made into a reasonably good level. Which is really not going to cut it if I want many people to play my levels... still as long as enjoy it that's all that really matters . | 2008-09-25 21:29:00 Author: Burrich Posts: 1018 |
That's sick. This shows LBP can be extremely customized! | 2008-09-26 04:44:00 Author: xzentrico Posts: 27 |
Me and Clank always play around like that, but in the end, he's always my robotic lover. You're lucky. You get to say your robotic lover. I have to say whale lover. How bad does that sound? lol I can't wait to make a scary theme ride...all dark and stuff, then monsters pop out and light switches on for like half a second, mixed with proper sound effects and a creepy music (I'm sure LBP will deliver in all aspects, including sound effects)...Give some players a bit of a fright =D Yes. I had the same idea! Have you played R&C Future: Quest for Booty? It has this one section where you are rail grinding in this dark abandoned pirate cave and there are these shadows of large beasts that appear on the walls as you go past them. So cool! | 2008-09-26 04:57:00 Author: Unknown User |
