Certain LBP songs blocked in certain countries on Youtube?!

Archive: 16 posts

Okay this is so weird I think I need to post this here. Even though it sounds like this shouldn't be discussed here but read on and you'll see why.

Well Youtube has gotten awfully strange a little while ago, uploading videos has a different progresss bar, and it always comes up ERROR when its finished but my vids do come though (but it locks up from consective videos from recording forcing me to refresh the page and reupload those that were quered)

Okay enough about that, well as you may or may not know, Uploading youtube videos with the Go! Team's "Get it together" is considered 3rd party content (and also prevents me from saving it as MP4).

Well one of my new videos I recorded of someones level with that song, now comes up with "This video is blocked in certain countries". Now I don't think there's anything else in the video that causes this to happen (unless there's a country thats offended by candy...., Looking at the copyright info tells me its the song)

And what bothers me is what countries can't watch this? I got this strange feeling its England or another major European country

I don't want to have to go like this on LBPC...

"Me: Hey I liked your level so much I recorded it, but since you live in this country you can't see it! Sorry!"

Is The Go! Team and/or Sony this desperate for money?

Oh yeah the video this got the message on, here

*sigh* Youtube has struck again on me, Now Tapha Niang (the song in the 1st level of the Savannah) also does this (minus the ad) except Tapha Niang says its owned by WMG

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that YouTube blocks any copyrighted song if they catch it.

I think that if you have a message in the description saying something to the effect of "This video is not for profit and is purely for free entertainment purposes. I do not own the song", it will probably be allowed.

But yeah, I'm no expert on this stuff so I might be mistaken.

well yeah i'm pretty sure that is right, however before today, having that song just said "matched 3rd party content" and just had a litte ad in the video for that song in I-tunes while still being available to everyone. Why did they escalate to this? Oddly the old levels I recorded that had this song, are still available to everyone

Maybe the Go! Team is some shady government superspy agency, and they write their plans encoded in song... so they took over you tube to stop their plans from being decoded... Just a theory.2009-11-26 00:36:00

Google had a falling out with many recording companies over ad revenue. They have thus decided to pull, flag or blank certain songs (even from people singing or playing them themselves) automatically from their servers.

I believe videos can also be falsely flagged as inappropriate/copyrighted by votebots and flagbots and the like based on some random internet troll's instructions.

I'm not saying it's either of those cases, but those are cases that happen on youtube. Ever since being bought by Google it's been steadily going south IMO.

At least you didn't get false DMCA'd.

Oddly enough I had this open in a tab while I was looking at Beatles covers...
"This content is not available in your country for copyright reasons."

Oh so the video of my SuperMarket level you recorded can not be seen everywhere...?
All those rights/copyright issues are annoying...

Anyway, thanks very much for having kept the video on your Youtube channel,
as it was not possible to make a good quality downlodable MP4 version of it...
Guys, don't use "Get it together" if you want your level recorded...

Did you encountered the same problem with another LBP song?

I think yours is still fine and can be seen be everyone. Its just it looks like from here on, levels i record that have that song can't be viewed by everyone, but the main question is who can't view them? It doesn't tell me which countries it blocked out.2009-11-26 03:31:00

USA can watch it.

Its weird that it doesn't tell you though. Or at least tells you where it can be viewed.
