Stickers that look like the various material

Archive: 4 posts

This is kinda related to what was posted in this Materials (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=15649) thread.

Are there any levels out there you know of where people have created stickers of the different types of materials and they offer them in prize bubbles? I hate making something of disolve material (i.e. a hidden doorway) and then having it stick out like a sore thumb.

I also know about the way to use a brain to make non disolve items dissapear.

I know I could just take in game pictures and use them as stickers... but if someone has already done this there is no point in recreating the wheel.

Has anyone used the PS3 eye to make unique material stickers? The cartoon stickers are ok... I just don't use them. However I would use stickers more if there were more realistic material looking stickers.

I don't get what you're asking here... Are you asking how to make dissolve material not look like dissolve material? If that is what you're asking then just find a "nice" looking material take a photo of it and stick it over the dissolve material. sorry if that's not what you're asking.2009-11-25 22:12:00

Given that this process of "recreating the wheel" takes all of about 8 seconds to actually do yourself, I would highly doubt it anyone bothered to create a set as prizes and distribute them ... going and collecting one from a level would take longer than just creating it.

Yeah, the process is pretty straightforward. Just take a photo of some material that is larger than the size of the block you intend to cover. It needs to be larger, since it will need to wrap around the edges.

It never does look quite the same, though. It always comes out darker.

If you really want to go above and beyond, you can demit the object. The basic idea is to emit the object when the player enters the level. Then, move the emitter [which must have "max emitted at once" set to 1] to a new location. By activating the emitter again (look into OR gates), it will dissolve the original door, and emit a new one wherever you have moved the emitter to. This can be done with any material.

For more info on that, check out this thread:

Also, you can check out the level Subterranean Setbacks, by rtm223 (the inventor of demitting techniques). His level makes great use of demitters, although it might not be readily obvious. Try purposefully screwing up in some areas. It's a great level, regardless, so check it out.
