Hey everybody, I need some help cant think of an easy method to trigger many speechbubbles i need a method to create cutscenes, where speechbubbles get activated automatically and disappear to trigger a new one how does that work the easiest way? my way: emitter spwans a block which triggers a speechbubble, block disappears, another one appears, timing issue... aaargh is there an easier way? | 2009-11-23 12:31:00 Author: TOBSn08 Posts: 143 |
Thats the way I did it for my MMs next level pack level. Also, if you have a key on a piston that triggers all the emitters. that way its just a matter of moving the switch to the right position on the timeline to get it right. It is very time consuming to get right. No easier way I know of though Im afraid. | 2009-11-23 12:36:00 Author: wexfordian Posts: 1904 |
The way I've done it in the level I'm working on is by having a cardboard block on wheels with a magnetic key slowly move along some dark matter. On the dark matter are loads of key switches. If you tweak the redius of a single switch to be just right, you can align your swithes up to the grid so that they're evenly spaced and the timing will be exactly right for each one. But if you want different speech bubbles to last different amounts of time, then it's trial and error really. | 2009-11-23 14:23:00 Author: Nuclearfish Posts: 927 |

Thanks for the insight guys. I've been working on one of these and I've taken a similar approach as you Wex. The tweaking/trial and error is a time eater for sure. I've taken to moving the start of the level right to where the cinematic triggers and I change one thing, then pop back into play, repeat.... tedious but necessary it seems. | 2009-11-27 17:34:00 Author: Morgana25 Posts: 5983 |
uhm if i understand what your saying..what ive done , is take a proximity switch. and hook the wire to each speech bubble in the the the order you want them to be in. ex: hook the first wire to the first speech bubble, and then the next wire to the next speech bubble you want to activate. When you do this all of your speech bubbles will be in order. if you want this sequence to activate only once then use a piston that can take away the proximity switch some how, or put the proximity witch on some dissovle, then destroy in someway once you need them to go away. i think this would be easier :O uhm | 2009-11-27 18:43:00 Author: drei Posts: 158 |
Be careful with speech bubbles you only see once, though. Some people get distracted or are slow reading english. I hate it when I miss a speech bubble and can't get it back. | 2009-11-27 19:13:00 Author: Rogar Posts: 2284 |
I'm dissolving mine so they go in order and cut from one to the next. I'll need to look at having some kind of redo option where I'd have to re-emit the whole thing otherwise it's a one shot deal on my level. | 2009-11-27 19:31:00 Author: Morgana25 Posts: 5983 |
