The Path to NirvanaDuffluc

Beyond an icy and perilous mountain lies a temple full of riches and treasure! (At least, so it is said.) Now that's your idea of Nirvana! If you wish to find and take the treasure for yourself you are going to need a sharp wit, a keen sense of timing and a lust for adventure! Good luck!

Hello all!

This is my 5th LBP level and probably my most complex. It contains some unique platforming sequences and a couple of puzzles that I am sure will keep you entertained. I am very proud of it and hope that you all enjoy it very much!

I believe that my levels have reached a stage where I am going to need your comments and feedback if i want them to improve. Please don't hesitate to criticize and give suggestions, I take them all very seriously!

An icy and perilous mountain...

The path to Nirvana is a lot more than just a spiritual one. It's gonna take some thinking...

... and a quick trigger finger.

http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d43/duffluc/APhoto_2.jpg

The temple itself isn't a very friendly place either.

But who knows where you'll end up?

I would love to give feedback on your levels in return so go ahead and post them!

Some nice visuals, with good use of layers, i'm not sure i like how the magic mouth drags your vision to the fire... it sets up the level well, but is also a little awkward if the player is nowhere near there.

Some of the time, the walls and floor are rather jagged. This is most noticable in the fall down the dark passage. While its partially the look you seem to be going for, smooth cave floors would probably work just as well.

Thats a cool way of making those balls on chains move, by having the grab switch on the ball before it.

At the part with the light on the chain, there is a spelling error, it should read "lose" not "loose".

The light on a string is wonderful, creating some cool moments and puzzles. The part at the end where it is grabbed is my favorite My only concern with this is whether the level is passable if a player drops the ball later on in the level.

When the player first reaches the rooftops, it feels a little plain with just a flat edge of material. Spires or something decorative would help.

Again, some of the platforms are a little bit messy with extra corners. Use the corner editing tool to your advantage, a cleaner look will blend better with the rest of your level.

Overall, this is a good level. you have some cool puzzles, platforming, and visuals, but at times its a little rough around the edges (literally). Thanks for bringing it to my attention, i had fun playing it 4* for you.

No F4F necessary, if you feel like playing my levels, enjoy. But I generally give Feedback 4 Free to people who ask.

Happy gadding!

Hey, I played this level and really enjoyed it. As usual I try and give good points and improvement points for every level I play, so here they are!

+ Awesome platforming. The circular ascension was very clever and unique, and you chose your materials well to show which parts could be grabbed. I think, however, that "Gold Metal" would look better than "Aztec Gold" in this situation, purely because the Aztec stuff shines too much. It doesn't detract from the level, though, just a matter of opinion.

+ The puzzles were superb, excellent difficulty grading. It took me quite a while to solve the light puzzle and I enjoyed the challenge.

- I broke the light string a couple of times and the fiery thing that links it fell off and caused a bit of a problem. Perhaps have it dissolve if it breaks contact with the thin layered piece behind it, or delethalise it.

- Try and add a little more decor to the outside portion. The shapes you use are awesome but some areas, particularly the first outdoor portion, are quite plain and empty. You might want to use Grid Mode to draw floors and walls as well, as some of them are jagged.

Not that those not-so-good points detract much from the level, I still gave it :star::star::star::star::star: because the platforming and puzzles were so unique. This level definitely deserves more publicity.

Nice job!

I played your level and overall it was a sincerely fun little romp. One part that maybe you would want to consider somehow revising is the light puzzle. The light got crushed in one of the movable walls. However I did really like that contraption that caught the light at the end.

My favorite section though was after you get out of the temple and there is then there is another structure with green floral print wallpaper. I thought your use of that in this section was awesome and I really liked how it looked next to the gold borders. Also the shapes and architecture in some rooms looked brilliant.

There were a good amount of uneven edges, you should look into using the grid it works wonders on a plethora of things and using it more often, you'll most likely see, that thermometer space is also reserved more.

I thought it was cool how everything seemed to fit like a puzzle and the whole level in general ran extremely smoothly. I liked the clouds at the end and the whole elevator sequence, did you take some or add some music from the track at the end, I noticed an appropriate difference in the music at one given location which I thought just added to the mood a little more.

Maybe next time add a little story line. Doesn't have to be too fancy just maybe a general scheme to things.

Overall I'd give your level :star::star::star::star::star: It was a great level and I'd love to see what else you're able to dish out in the future.

Thanks for all the feedback guys! I take it all to heart

I'll smooth out those edges for sure, it seems that the edges everyone noticed them lol. I am sure that they detract from the overall visual design. I think that should give me some more room for detail too (my thermometer was basically full) so ill see what i can do there.

I wracked my brain trying to think of a way to not let that light break in the puzzle i made, but i really cant think of anything... any suggestions?

Well I've smoothened out the edges and added a few details here and there. Hopefully the flaws won't be so noticeable now.

If there is anyone out there who could give me a solution to the one remaining glitch (it is possible, although rare, to break the key at the puzzle section and have to go get a new one) I would be most appreciative!
