It blew my mind! Just amazing! i wouldnt use somthing on a game as a friend but its still amazing! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CPIbGnBQcJY !! | 2009-11-19 01:12:00 Author: Snrm Posts: 6419 |
It's just an Eyetoy with a microphone. Impressive last gen. Now it's a late ripoff. | 2009-11-19 01:16:00 Author: dandygandy2704 Posts: 1002 |
I dont think an eye toy could do near as much as what this is doing | 2009-11-19 01:19:00 Author: Snrm Posts: 6419 |
It's the worlds first nonce-em-up. | 2009-11-19 01:20:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |
*shrugs* Sorry, I find it hard to get excited about Xbox stuff (call me a fanboy if you want, I guess) but when I saw people "driving" cars in racing games by doing the actions, the first thing I thought of was what the Eyetoy was doing last year. This thing just happens to have a mic and be able to recognise colour and shapes better. And that whole Milo thing is just as much, if not more, about the programming than about Natal itself. The camera may see the orange fish, but the Milo program is what recognises it, not the camera. | 2009-11-19 01:43:00 Author: dandygandy2704 Posts: 1002 |
I'm sure there's much more impressive camera technology than that at the moment, and MS still haven't realised that it's not going to work with games at all. You need some sort of physical input, waving your arms around and shouting at the tv is even more gimmicky than the wii. The only good use i can think for it is if i was playing the xbox with the normal controller and it paused automatically when it see's i've walked away from the screen. Nothing older technology couldn't of done | 2009-11-19 06:36:00 Author: Dexiro Posts: 2100 |
Although this is amazing and impressive from a development standpoint... I still don't see how natal can be any fun. There is 0 sense of where you are in the world until something happens... can you imagine playing a game like that? "Oh sorry teammate, I didn't mean to cut your head off with a chainsaw. I could swear I was a few feet behind you. Lionhead studios always impresses with their AI though. Brilliant engineers there. I guess there can be some use to the facial and body recognition... imagine a game where the AI senses fear | 2009-11-19 17:06:00 Author: Foofles Posts: 2278 |
As Dandy says, it's a rip-off of the eyetoy, and a bad one at that. I might be impressed if MS ever comes up with an original idea. | 2009-11-19 17:11:00 Author: ARD Posts: 4291 |
As Dandy says, it's a rip-off of the eyetoy, and a bad one at that. I might be impressed if MS ever comes up with an original idea. No one comes up with original ideas. Microsoft copies somthing like the eye toy Sony copies somthing like achivements | 2009-11-19 20:54:00 Author: Snrm Posts: 6419 |
^The Eyetoy was an original idea, though. As were achievements. People have original ideas all the time. People just copy other people's original ideas a lot more often then they come up with their own. And, to be fair, PS3 fans were clamouring for an achievement-esque system. You can't blame Sony for appeasing the fans. | 2009-11-19 21:16:00 Author: dandygandy2704 Posts: 1002 |
Everyone's guilty of copying but i think MS tend to be a bit more blatant sometimes Don't ask me to name any examples though, my minds blank at the moment xD | 2009-11-19 21:22:00 Author: Dexiro Posts: 2100 |

Moral is every console needs to copy eachother so they can be good | 2009-11-19 21:31:00 Author: Snrm Posts: 6419 |
Exactly. You can't really say that consoles are much worse because they steal an idea here and there, you know. It's this kind of competition that breeds good products. That's why I think gaming would die if we ended up with one console. | 2009-11-19 21:36:00 Author: dandygandy2704 Posts: 1002 |
I think Natal looks very interesting, Although it will only be for party time fun for me with friends and family. Like the wii.... And sony are copying the wii by bringing out the new motion controllers. I've never been a fanboy of any machine. I've owned nearly every console ever made. They all copy each other because they are a business. And to see a competitor doing something that everyone obviously like and not try to emulate it in some way, would be bad business sense. Tell you the truth, I haven't played any other game since lbp came out (actually even a few months before it came out, as I have never been as excited for a game EVAR... lol). And I bought a PS3 for lbp. Until last week...... I bought a new XBOX360 last week (about my 7th lol) after not having one for nearly 2 years. And I have to say that it is BY FAR a lot better than the PS3. No fanboy here, just a very honest opinion. | 2009-11-19 21:54:00 Author: dorien Posts: 2767 |
It's impossible for tons of people to not come up with this at the same time, I can't really say anyone is copying anyone though, per se. These sorts of things I'm sure tons of people and teams come up with independently at around the same time. Just like most techniques in video games. Anyone remember a decade or so there was some really crude robot that would recognize your voice and facial expressions / movements? | 2009-11-20 00:12:00 Author: Foofles Posts: 2278 |
I have a few things to say here: 1. Achievements came to PC before anything 2. As amazing as this seems, it is a bit of old technology... 3. The moral of this isn't that companies should all copy off of each other to get better, they should all just merge together and form one big, giant gaming foundation. And sony are copying the wii by bringing out the new motion controllers. The plans for the PS motion controller were leaked before the Wii was revealed, and it seemed to look very similar to the design revealed at E3 this year. | 2009-11-21 13:28:00 Author: ARD Posts: 4291 |
