So, what are you doing while you wait to download LBP PSP?

Archive: 41 posts

I have finally resigned myself to the fact that LittleBigPlanet for PSP is not going to be available to download anytime soon. Aside from posting here, I've got to come up with something else to do to kill time.

I probably should continue work on one of my many LBP PS3 projects, but I'm itching for a new game. I'm thinking about picking up Braid or Trine, but then again I'm also not really in the mood to reward Sony for delaying LBP. Maybe I'll just keep playing Pinball Heroes on my PSP.

So, what are you doing to keep yourself from going clinically insane while the clock moves slowly in what seems like the wrong direction?

This weekend's my only free weekend, I've got finals week after next, and plans for Thanksgiving and the day after that don't include LBP...

I'll be working on my regular LBP level and playing stuff for spotlights... and staring longinly at my BRAND NEW PSP Go and wondering if it will ever do anything besides play the Papaton demo. *sigh*2009-11-18 19:32:00

I hadn't heard about a big delay, and was assuming it was coming out for download maybe thursday night. What am I missing? O.o

One of my guys at work has it here on UMD and it's fantastic, so I'm itching to get it - but I don't want it on UMD in case I get the PSP Go at some point.

Oh, spotlight levels - good idea. I'm still catching up on all the archived community spotlights I managed to miss this summer... Maybe I'll go do that for a while.

There are some pretty fun and cheap games for the PSP. Pinball Heroes is great (if you're a pinball person), and Numblast is addictive as heck.

I hadn't heard about a big delay, and was assuming it was coming out for download maybe thursday night. What am I missing? O.oTo use technical terminology, Sony has hosed it bigtime.

So the game was supposed to be released for download on Tuesday, but it's still not out yet. Assassin's Creed Bloodlines had the same release date as LBP and was actually available late Monday evening, so there's a little extra salt in the wound. People are thinking we may not be able to download the game until the usual Thursday PSN Store update, but now there are whisperings of even further delays.

Yeah, I know... Can't help but like the little bugger.

Perhaps just a light pummeling with a Nerf bat?

Well, then, I suppose I'll continue with the latest "Ratchet and Clank" installment, which is also an incredible amount of fun.... oh, and play some F4F levels while I watch my poor little new level get tossed in the rip currents that is cool levels....

Oh yeah, and sit staring at the popularity of the Logic Pack in page 1 of highest rated... wondering how in the WORLD I got to be part of that amazing project (kisses digital feet of ConfusedCartman, CompherMC, MrSuperComputer, and rtm223....)

All of the LogicPack levels are so well done it's ridiculous. I keep playing them just to marvel at how smooth and polished everything is. Incredible work and deserving of every ounce of recognition all of you are getting. Seriously excellent stuff.2009-11-18 20:15:00

I feel especially bad for you Morgana because you *just* bought your Go and haven't even been able to use it. I've at least been enjoying mine with other games for a couple months. It really is a nice handheld - you'll love it once you actually start using it.

Oh, that reminds me. Did all you PSP Go owners out there know that you can connect a PS3 controller (e.g., Sixaxis, DS3) to your Go and save yourself the hassle of that whole carpal tunnel thing? Just go to Settings > Bluetooth Device Settings > Manage Bluetooth Devices > Register New Device. Make sure your WLAN switch is on and just follow the onscreen instructions. Easy!

yea, I literally bought it last night at 8pm. Had it charged and had read the quick start info ready to download around midnight and then nothing. I did read about the regular controller thing - that's awesome.2009-11-18 22:18:00

Wow After being distracted the entire day yesterday wondering about the release, How I passed my test earlier this morning, I'll never know. Well at least i won't be thrown off tonight, and maybe catch up on my homework.

There's other things i can do to pass the time, (no way i could wait entirely by doing schoolwork) I could maybe record some more levels (did that yesterday). That Pinball hereoes does sound interesting (but i don't want to spend $ and then not have enough when LBP PSP finally comes out, maybe 1 or 2 tables if they are as good as Zen Pinball's tables).

Because I was already wallowing in misery, I decided to get some chores done and go to the grocery store. Oh, look there's a Gamestop. I went inside and checked out the LBP UMD box for a while, muttering expletives quietly to myself the whole time. Now I want the game even more than I did yesterday. I did find a copy of Tourist Trophy for $5, so that'll keep me busy for perhaps a little while.

I did read about the regular controller thing - that's awesome.I have my Go hooked up to my TV as well so it's basically another console. Really cool.

'Tall mode' view FTW. The Uncharted table is very good, but for some reason I keep playing the Hot Shots one.

Thinking about me playing LBP PSP, then wondering when i'm actually going to play LBP PSP. And sometimes watching the LBP PSP E3 Trailer on my PSP-2000. Playing the PS3 games that i have, and playing my old PS2 (that old PS2 is still working great). Playing my decent PSP games. And reading the news, and doing many other things. All while i wait, and wait, for LBP PSP to be released on the PS Store.

Updating Media Go every ten minutes.

I just got all of the older R&C games I did not own, so I am playing those.

Also I am half way done with my first PS3 level, so I may try to get more of that done.

This reminds me so much of when all of us had to wait an extra week for LBP PS3 to launch. At least that time I got my copy a day early.2009-11-19 00:07:00

Don't remind me. I had to wait an extra week after everybody else got their copy because I pre-ordered at the only place that had the Nariko costume, and for some reason they only got the game a week after every other shop in the city.

Since I'm in China and can't really go out and buy the UMD or boot up my PS3 and play LBP (seeing as I don't have my PS3 with me), I decided to finally play God of War: Chains of Olympus. That game is fantastic. I have no idea how Ready at Dawn managed to produce such an incredible game on a handheld system. Anyway, I guess this is a LBP thread, not a "Random Game" Review Thread, so I'll shut up now...2009-11-19 07:42:00

I guess this is a LBP thread, not a "Random Game" Review Thread, so I'll shut up now...I'd say a random game review qualifies as something you're doing while waiting for LBP.

I stopped working on my latest PS3 level for the evening, currently downloading the new system update.

Yes, definitely update your firmware. The PS3 system update went live last night as well, so don't forget to do that as well if you're planning on downloading LBP on your PS3. You won't be able to connect to the PSN Store otherwise.

One other bright spark this week is that adhocParty is *finally* out in a glorious English interface! The Japanese beta version of ahP has been out for over a year, and while it works great you have to navigate the menus blind. (Unless you can read Japanese that is, which I can't.) The English version of the program should already be on the EU PSN and will be out in a few hours in NA.

Although adhocParty doesn't mean all that much to us LBP'ers, it is unbelievably fantastic news for anybody that owns a PSP. Every single title out there with ad-hoc multiplayer can now instantly be played against anybody over the Internet. Free. I'm bigtime into Gran Turismo, and sometimes Monster Hunter, so it's all very exciting. At least I'll be able to do some online racing this weekend if we are all deprived of LBP goodness again.

Doesn't that only work for those that have there PS3 connected by an ethernet cable?

Correct. The PS3 uses the wireless adapter to communicate with your PSP, so you must connect to the Internet using the ethernet port.

That does not necessarily mean that you need an ethernet cable running through your house to plug into your wireless access point, as there are many ways to get around the problem. There wireless bridges as well as adapters that allow data to be sent through the electrical power lines in your house. Pretty nifty.

A bit off topic (but something that I want to know while we wait), but was the DLC-for-the-first-two-weeks offer available in Europe? I want to know because I am wondering how that works.

EDIT: IT IS OUT NOW.

EDIT: Wait, no it is not. But the demo is out.
